1984 honda 200es cam sprocket chewed up

Recommended Posts

This is my third sprocket. It seems to be more at the index mark on the sprocket. Checked the crank sprocket, no wear. Can the chain be stretched to were I can"t keep it in proper time? Anyone run into this? Any thoughts? Thanks Bruce

I've heard that happens on some of the older Hondas. When they add the key and the index mark after casting the sprocket they would heat the area where the index mark goes before punching it. The heating would weaken that area of the sprocket causing it to wear prematurely. I'd suggest trying to find a fully machined steel sprocket. I'm no expert but i've heard that problem on the motorcycle engines too.

    • 1999 kawasaki bayou won't crank

I picked up a 99 bayou 220 a couple years ago for cheap, put it back together as a beater for my son. He rides the hell out of it. A couple weeks ago it won't crank, push the button it does nothing. He's been pull starting it. I can jump across the two large terminals on the solenoid, basically going straight to the starter, and it starts fine. How do I test the solenoid? There are only 3 wires, 1 hot, 1 ground, I thought the last one was the trigger but apparently not. Any ideas? Thanks

    • 2001 Kodiak 400 4x4 Will Not Crank - I'm Puzzled - Need Help

I bought a used 2001 Kodiak 400 4x4 Camo recently and my plans were to make this ATV into a Prescribe Burning ATV Unit...it cranked and ran great when I got it.... I knew it had a brake problem and a speedometer/odometer problem....I used the bike for three weeks off and on and then I did some work around Perry Florida and on the next to last day the ATV started to act funny about cranking and switching off...after cutting the bike off to do some work, I returned twenty to thirty minutes later and it would not crank....it would try to start but then it would back fire....well I loaded it up and took it to a local ATV repair shop and left it for repair....its now been two months and the problem has not been solved...put a new (rebuilt Yamaha) carburetor in, new coil, new battery, drained fuel tank and put new fuel in, new spark plug, checked timing, checked compression, etc...still try's to start but backfires.....need some help here at     [email protected]

I bought a Honda 250sx 1986 but the exhaust is broken. Apparently it's not possible to order a new one. I checked to order one on others compagny but there's noting.
Do you know which exhaust it's possible to install. Is there a company who sold an exaust to fit on my 250sx.
      Sorry for my english
      Thank you

Im working on a old 1987 honda 125 4 wheeler in the school shop. It will start by getting pulled by another 4 wheeler but wont start with the pull start or Electric Start. When you pull start it it tries to start but when you try the electric start it just turns over but doesnt even act like it wants to start. The spark plug is dry and it shoots fuel out of the back(air filter side) of the carb. Weve had the carb off twice and it is complety clean. What are some things we can try?

Hope someone can help with this one.
We took our 1984 Honda TRX 200 to the shop and they had it for about 2 weeks before they finally called and said that they had cleaned the carb and changed the battery and that it had started up.
We went and got it and when we got home it would not start so we called them, they said bring it back in, so we did. They called us the next day and said they changed the spark plug, and that it was running. We went and got it again and it ran when we drove it off the truck.
We parked it for about an hour because we were going to get ready to go on a ride. Well, it wouldnt start again.
So we called them and they said the last thing they could do was order a new CDI box and put that on. I decided to just buy it myself, so I didnt have to pay them labor again. We put the new one on today and its still not starting.
Does anyone have any ideas on what we could check to see what in the world is going on with this thing?
      Please and Thank you
