Hey, Im new here. Just signed up a few minutes ago. Recently i bought a 85 Honda ATC250ES Big Red. It needs a fair bit of work and Ive been trying to figure it out. One problem is the kickstarter being locked up. Just today I got the right side crankcase cover pulled off and the gears in there look great. Does this mean the engine is locked up? To be clear, the engine has never run in my ownership. Thankyou for any advice.

I know this post is a couple months old, but have you had good luck with these carbs? I had bought a cheap one on Amazon awhile back for a mower, and it seemed ok for the short time I had it...🤷🏼‍♂️

It does sound like the engine or clutch plates might be stuck, i would put some PB Blaster and Marvel Mystery Oil in the spark plug hole and let it sit overnight, if you can get to the crank nut try turning it a little at a time each way and see if it breaks loose.

Take the bung out of the left side and use a socket to try and turn the crank..
