I like the idea of a video contest, that could be fun. Perhaps an opportunity to see some of the shiny personalities of our members in motion.

You may be getting fuel, just not enough. First try tapping on the side of the float bowl with the handle of a screwdriver, you may just have a stuck float. Then try draining the tank and the carb, start with fresh gas. Then make sure the fuel petcock and fuel lines are clean and clear. Next you may want to take the carb completely apart and clean everything. I believe that is a 2-stroke, so while the carb is off, check the reeds. If none of these things help, check your flywheel key and test your ignition components, coil, CDI, stator, plug and wire. Also, 105 psi is pretty low, so that is not helping things any.

Here are some pics we took on our ride on saturday. The first few are posted in chronological order of my attempt at climbing a small hill made of logs, it was quite slippery. I tried twice with the same result and as you can see, I did not make it. Also, kids, don't be like my friend Brandon who thinks that because his Rancher is not fast, he doesn't need a helmet, he does wear one when he rides his 450R though.

I took the old beast out for her first ride since I put the new shocks on her. It handes sooo much better, but now I think I need to upgrade the rear suspension to even the ride out a bit. Here is what she looks like all put back together. I had to edit it slightly as my friend decided that it needed a new sticker which some might find offensive. lol

That is an LT 230 S not an LT 250 R, so I changed the name of the thread accordingly. I used to have one of those, mine was an '86, my first "grown-up" quad, I loved that thing. I came across a site you may find helpful if you need any parts. New Suzuki LT230S Quad Sport Parts at Vince's Cycle

First off I must apologize for giving you bad info, on a four stroke there is a fuel screw, on a two stroke it is an air screw. I refered to the pilot air screw in my earlier posts, such a thing does not exist on your Raptor. I usually have two-stroke on the brain because I grew up on two-strokes and have worked more on them than I have four-strokes. That being said, your problem could be that you have a float stuck and/or a blocked over flow tube, or you may have installed the fuel screw improperly causing fuel to flow into one or both of the carb throats and thus flooded the motor and the airbox.

That's crazy talk I tell you, the only way I can see the motor running backwards is if the kickstarter acutually turns the motor backwards and the spark timing is retarded way more than it should be so that it could actually run that way. I just don't see how that is even possible, but I have been wrong before. If you replace ignition components timing can be affected, I doubt it would be enough to run the motor backwards and that wouldn't explain why it runs good if forced to start in a forward direction. My brain just started hurting. I would check and make sure some wires didn't get mixed up some how, and did you replace the flywheel, I suppose if the thing was manufactured improperly and the magnets were out of place, then you could have a serious timing issue.

I would suggest getting a new quad rather than sinking money into a the old Breeze. Your money would be better spent on a different ride. You mentioned that you were thinking about gettting a Blaster, IMO one of the best deals out there for the money right now. There is a ton of aftermarket for them too. It is mild enough for nearly anyone to ride in stock form, however they can be made into a really fast machine. I know a guy who drag races a highly modified Blaster and he blows the doors off moderately modified Raptors, 450's, 250R's and even some mildly modded Banshees.

NEVER buy anything without riding it first. Ride one of each and see which one you like better. I agree with Stupidbot that ergonomics are quite different between those bikes, I too felt the Yamaha was quite wierd to ride.

It is a great idea if you like to go fast, and don't mind constant maintinance. I have a CR 500 powered TRX and the vibrations cause alot of cracks and loosen nuts. Invest in a couple gallons of loctite and if it fits in the budget, get the crank balanced.

If it is not a bendix type starter then it must have a clutch of some sort, which is probably the source of your problem.

The air screw is on the outside of the carb, and can be adjusted while the motor is running. I think what you are talking about is a dial-a-jet kit, which allows you to adjsut the jetting without disassembling the carb.

A kickstarter is never a bad idea, as a replacement or a backup. You will never get stranded by a dead battery. As far as replacing the thumb throttle, that is a matter of what you feel most comfortable with.

The KTM is a superior machine in every aspect except price and the Kawi is fuel injected. I like the Kawi, but the KTM is a much better machine IMO.

I broke one of the spring posts of my clutch center by holding a screwdriver between two of the posts while torquing the center nut. I first tried to re-attatch the post by running a screw through the back of the clutch center into the post. It worked ok, but I eventually replaced the clutch center. I also made myself a clutch holding tool to prevent further incident.

I think the KFX would be a great choice for a trail rider. I was going to buy one, but I got a better deal on my LTR. I wanted the Kawi because it has reverse, the LTR does not. The KFX 450 is a great bike IMO, I would pick it over the 400 EX or the LTZ 400 any day.

I am assuming you are talking about the pilot air screw. There will be one on each carb, I believe you will find the air screws on bottom of each carb on the engine side of the float bowl. You will probably need a very short flat-head screwdriver to get to them. They should point straight up from the bottom.

The best thing to do is to actually watch what is happening, you can pull the clutch cover like you said, or remove the starter and watch the starter gear as you activate it. What you will probably see in either case is that the gear is spinning, but not moving forward. You may be able to remedy that problem by taking the starter completely apart. Then clean and lubricate where necessary.

The best thing for fenders is new ones. I don't think fiberglass will work very well on plastic fenders. You can drill holes on either side of the cracks and use zip-ties to hold it together for a cheap fix.

The Kawasaki, Polaris and KTM 450's all have reverse. Between the 400EX and the LTZ 400, I personally like the LTZ, it is more performance oriented and it is liquid cooled. Both are great machines however. BTW, the chick in your avatar is freakin' HOT.
