wow this is depressing :(
trailblazer_02 replied to powermaddd400ex's topic in General ATV Discussion
go for a 416 and when you buy a cam chain, save about 60-70 bucks and buy a crf450r cam chain. people i have heard from say the older crf450r cam chain is the exact same as a heavy duty cam chain for a 400ex. since the crf chain is about 35-50 and the 400ex heavy duty chain is about 110. theres an easy save. try FST's 416, its cheaper i think. yeah you will need a heavy duty chain and the crf chain is the same as a heavy duty one, so thats the way to go, i know this because my cam chain is streched and loose! i think this might be a common 400ex problem. -

nice bikes, you should deff. check the egronomics though, sit on one and see if you like how it feels. the new 09's have new plastic and 6 lbs dropped. the review in dirtwheels says it feels MUCH lighter than just 6 lbs off last year, they also dropped the center of gravity. very nice bike, i would choose it over anything for GNCC for the price.

i really think it was an even trade. with everything in great shape this is prob worth about 2000-2100. my tb was worth 1800. and some things need done to this one, so it was pretty square.

im still waiting on the nerfss and stuff. but my dad cracked it open to take a look at things, cam chain is loose. ive heard around about a 2002 CRF450 cam chain working, and found one for 10$. might spring for it, and we bought plugs, but havent got the right socket to fit yet.. i think we will have to wait untill monday when my local dealer is open. i cleaned it up though and here are some pics of it. with NOTHING DONE TO IT. sorry for the lack of excitement going on in this project...but its going a lot faster than the TB did! i have money this time lol
-
umm...its a 2 hour ride from where he was. UPDATE: bought the lights today, should be off to get a new plug later today, still waiting on the nerfs.
-
well the night the dude brought it over here it fired right up and i took it for a quick blast down the road. then we put it up, next morning, wouldnt turn over.
-
yeah i have.
-
thats good to hear, hopefully it works the same for me.
-
yeah i really love tweaking and testing stuff on em and tearing em down and building them back up, i think i will go to college and be a tech for atvs or something.. yeah i could make the trailblazer run with that 400ex but i had to face the facts, with the money i have i couldnt do it, i talked to my dad about it, and he said well, it is your atv, and your sister doesnt ride it much anyway [thats the main reason we got auto, she cant drive clutch] so he gave me the ok, put it up on craigslist, couple weeks later she was gone, hey jump into chat.
-
yeah, my dad knows people that do anything, i swear, and he is REALLY handy at making stuff from scrap. i mean he knows machine shops and stuff that will shave the head on my atv for free and everything. + he has been riding since the 80s so. he is good at custom fab work. we have a torch and a drill and everything out in the garage. ill have to look at the mounts and stuff. what do you think of the new project buckbilly? all sound good to you?
-
yeah i was looking at the universal one from walmart..how could i mount those..buying those would also save A LOT of money. they are 15$ compared to the cheapest bar mount is 70$. edit: here are the bar mounts : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Light-kit-Honda-250r-300ex-400ex-headlight-lights-trx_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ43980QQihZ004QQitemZ140249931174

are they easier to start..in say spring time? when its warmer? i hope so.. lol it would be hell for it to be hard to start like this all year long.
-
lol welcome to quadcrazy people ive never seen here before.
-
are you saying its normal for ALL models from honda to be hard to start? lol it would be really useful if honda made a back up kicker for the 400ex.

Someone Found the Holy Grail!!!!!!!
trailblazer_02 replied to mywifeknowseverythin's topic in ATV Picture and Video Sharing
tiger 500 was a factory 500cc two stroke trike. tiger made a 500, 250, 200, 125, and an 80. and they made a quad. very rare machines. -
a regular 18mm socket wont fit, i have to get a thin walled. and it has to be long.

thats not that special, you can find a cr500 and swap it, a tiger was a brand all its own, except their 80 that made 23 HP! that motor was from a KTM. they are super rare. -
yeah s&s powersports is huge, they sell sportbikes, harleys, utvs, dirtbikes, atvs and watercraft. and they have all brands of all of those. lol its pretty big.
-
try craigslist.com find a city near you, go to the motercycles section, then sort by the max price you can afford. you would be surprised what you can find, thats how i got my new atv.
-
buying one. im sure they will. its a full powersports place, and if they dont, we have plenty of places we can, plus i wanna look around there for other parts.
-
find a cheap used one. i see magnums go for 900-1200 bucks all the time.
-
ok, well i need a 18mm deep thin walled socket for the plug cause my dad and i dont have one. maybe the dealer will have a spark plug tool.
-
aw, no snow here..and mines not running... hey quadcrazy, can you tell me who does your embroidery work? PM me or something.
