  1. and the plastics arnt that good looking on this bike- i stitched them together with zip ties
  2. yeah thats what im thinking.. the tick seems to be getting worse too.. i'm gonna order a fuel pump first and see if that fixes the makeshift gas tank..
  3. wasnt getting gas. duh lol im stupid.. so im gonna order a pump. could hear the old one making clicking noises but wasnt pumping anything. also all rusty form water getting in it. the tick is getting worse.. dont know if im ready to put another 100 into it for a rocker or not.. pretty darn quick for an old 4 speed quad tho...
  4. haha well i love the work.. and with atvs, play is just mixed in
  5. yea, the plastics could use work but i just dont have time... oh well got two jobs and these projects... another job next week.. lol
  6. oh and i took those ugly lights off and put on the lightbar that i used to have on my bayou on this bike: lol those are gopro pics- and its date is off.. i took those this afternoon
  7. ohhh ok thats what i thought. so i think there IS a breather, but it didnt hook up to the old airbox nor was there a place for it to hook up. it just stuck up and dead-ended under the gas tank.. i tucked it under the carb so it wouldnt collect rain (i believe this was how water got into the engine from sitting out for years). anyway i bought a 45mm high flow filter for 20 and it looks beautiful! sputtered at top end so i adjusted it richer like you said and now it runs great. I was having issues with the clutch engaging to hard and stalling me but it softened up and is easy to drive now. so i put it up on CL today for $1700. prolly have to drop the price but who knows.... almost want to keep it- its soo fun to rip around.. even just around my shed i was raising clouds of dust and making berms..
  8. sounds like a good plan to me- ive had trouble with those stripped screw heads too- sometimes heat works- but not very safe to use a blow torch on a carb cause of the gas...
  9. im a huge fan of polaris' RZRs. i think they are mostly 60in to 70in wide.. the turbo s velocity is their latest model- pretty high dollar but it can sure go fast. i dont think you will find many 50in sxs out there because being that narrow posses a roll threat.. whats keeping you at 50in? polaris also sells rangers with are work geared and the general which is pretty much a rzr with a dump bed.. hope this helps! but@Frank Angerano is right- you can fit a bunch of people on the polaris big boss- they still make them i think..
  10. whats going on with the eps? locked up? not working?
  11. any luck? what happened to the bike?
  12. so got the gas tank in and i think the fuel pump is bad- not sure because the bike just stopped running- acting like its flooded or not getting gas.. I still had the make-shift tank supplying the carb while i checked to see if the pump would work and it wouldnt start with the kick start.. so i jumped it with the warrior and it finally fired up but would only idle. then i was gonna see if it would move and it choked out and wont start again. just replaced the ig coil- i know the old one only fired half the time.. so i know it has spark, but gonna run out and check that, maybe replace the plug.. its the oem carb and i did nothing to it so far, was running great yesterday... maybe somehow plugging up the pump caused the spark to trip or not get juice?
  13. so the experience ive had with aftermarket carbs has been hit or miss. but one thing i know does NOT work is using the jets from your aftermarket carb in the oem carb. i tried that with my bayou and it never ran worse- had the same issue yours does- would idle great but coughed and sputtered with throttle. I always try cleaning the oem carb first before buying an aftermarket, and never throw away an oem carb- they are worth a lot.
  14. yea ive shoked myself before- those darn little ignition coils have more juice on them than outlets in houses... shocked
  15. haha yea thanks to the forum.. and@Frank Angerano
  16. so i think im just gonna fix the tank/fuel pump issue, get an air filter on it and a choke cable and sell it- its super easy to kick start and runs great. the tick i dont think im gonna worry about either because its adjusted right so no damage is being done to the cam or valves.. but yea thats one of the hardest parts of flipping anything is knowing where to stop..
  17. ok do you think im losing or gaining value by spending the extra dollar to get everything fixed on it? To be perfect it needs an intake rocker new front tires, the foot brake cable, air filter, battery, starter, could really use some new plastics... I'm just trying to figure out where to stop.. I went all the way with the bayou and lost $1700 lol (of course there was more under the surface on that bike..) should i keep looking for a rocker or spend the $100? It seems pretty steep to me.. the rocker for the bayou was $50 or so for a oem..
  18. wait what are you talking about the air breathers? I thought you were talking about the vent hoses coming into the airbox..
  19. good luck with it!
  20. Also, I'm trying to figure how much more $$ i want to put into this bike until i start loosing profit.. How much is this thing worth in its condition? I would guess out of the $1000 i paid for all, i paid around $300 for this one.. with parts i have $428 into this bike (not including labor). it need new front tires (24x9x11) i'm guessing at least $100 for those..where do i stop? lol oh and the tick- it runs fine, but the intake rocker had about 1/8in warn off the end where it hits the cam lobe. this is a dual intake valve engine so a new intake rocker is $100
  21. i found one on ebay for $99 as opposed to $200+.. inside looked non-rusty too.
  22. ok. are replacement clutches expensive? Thats weird that neutral is where it is- any reason for this? The bike has one breather, but is doesnt attach to the air box, it just sticks up under the plastics.. (maybe this is how the water got into the engine?)
  23. figured out the issue- just the incorrect tooth on the linkage. Jumped the bike and took it for a ride (strained the oil, cleaned the oil filter, and put it back in). the clutch seems jumpy like it engages all the way at about 3/4 way out. And it doesnt like shifting into neutral when running and when its off, neutral is between 1st and 2nd gear...??? gonna order a new battery for it as every time i stall, it has to be jumped..no pull start. also, i was thinking of getting a aftermarket air filter that attaches directly to the carb so i didnt need an air box. is this a bad idea? the old airbox melted on the exhaust. but i'm still impressed as to how good this thing runs after having water in it. has tons of power and endless rpm.. i haven't needed to use but about half throttle on it so far.
  24. whats the clutch actuator again? I found part of the issue was that the linkage inside the clutch cover was not adjusted to the right gear tooth, but now it feels as if the clutch is locked up.
  25. I think im going to go with a 'new' tank. took a closer look at the inside and this is what i saw (i cut the tank in half so that you guys could see) so the inside of the tank is coated with some kind of thick paint that peeled off and is almost rusted through in some places.
