Yamaha Warrior clutch/carb/exhaust issues
JacobSlabach replied to JacobSlabach's topic in Yamaha ATV Forum
So turns out I still got this bike. One problem after another on it. So I bought the stock airbox and air filter put that on and ran good. Jb welded the hole in this side of the engine...but then I noticed the crankcase seal is leaking oil, and I was riding it one day and it started the old popped with throttle and started to try and seize up on me. I had just added oil ( due to the leak) so I thought I was good on that Turns out its spitting oil out the carb into the airbox as well as leaking out the crankcase. Looks like I'll have to rebuild the top and bottom end...again. not sure what went wrong? Lol. It still runs good cold. I get the weirdest atvs... my old 500 ran great on diesel fuel and this bike runs good for ab 5 mins with no oil 🤣🤣🤣 -
2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 Instrument Cluster Issues
JacobSlabach replied to Barry Troxtell's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
Had you figured this one out yet@Barry Troxtell? I say either it's a corroded connection (either a fuse or a plug for the pod) or moisture got inside the pod and shorted the whole thing like on mine. Let's hope it's the first cause those pods run 200 plus $$$- 4 replies

Sportsman 570 maintenance
JacobSlabach replied to marek porowski's topic in Polaris Sportsman 570 Problems & Repairs
Hahaha I was think 'heck this dude got ripped off" till I saw that 'SP'. Those 570 so models are SWEET with eps and all. Gonna be a solid bike for you brother. But yea a 2017 570 SP is definitely worth that. -
2011 Sportsman 500 belt replacement Polaris
JacobSlabach replied to technofarmer's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
That's one of the best looking used belts I've eve seen! As far as replacing them, I blow my belts before i change them. I tried changing the belt in my 04 sportsman 500 once and couldn't tell any difference. Sense, I blew the belt on my 07 sportsman 800 and put the 15 yr old belt off the 500 in the 700 been running great ever since. I see no need to replace belts till they're in little chucks(it blew). As for which belt to get, it just needs to be for your model and year. I bought a $40 belt off Amazon and it works as well or better than oem. The big no-ons to avoid are letting water into the clutches (gets wet and slips) and sitting the atv for years (belt dry rots) -
570 aftermarket boot replacement (it's been a while)
JacobSlabach replied to JacobSlabach's topic in General ATV Discussion
Got it done. So I ordered a front end lower boot and it fit great! Bought off amazon. Heres some pics. Super easy to disassemble these cv axles if you have the right tools. I bought a cv clamp tightener/cremper and a set of circlip pliers and pics and swapped a lower boot in prolly 2 hours or less (including disassembly and reassembly of the atv. You can see in the first pic I was able to clamp the stock boot with a pipe clamp, but the lower end came apart and lost the clamp. these pics are kinda in order of how I replaced the boot Never mind they didnt upload in the right order -

VID_27001003_073815_161.mp4 20191227_194104_1.mp4 received_515393185994156.mp4 Sorry was having wifi trouble couldn't get pics up last night. So I tried a oem boot and clamping it as tight as i could and it still popped off. Maybe what@06kfx440 was saying would work but I'm leaving rn- just gonna run it easy and keep it outa mud and if the axle breaks it breaks😆👍 I did order a boot that I think will work, I'll let yall know -

JacobSlabach replied to JacobSlabach's topic in General ATV Discussion
So I tried making a stock polaris boot work but both ends are too big in diameter. I'm taking it to my grandparents farm tmr to work on some fence lines so ig i wont be hitting any mud 😪😭. Heres some pics of it in AL where I picked it up -

First of all sorry I have been MIA here for a while, been busy with school and work. I'll try and reply on some other threads asap, but posting this one because I just picked up a 2017 sportsman 570 before the new year and popped a boot on it going through a mud hole. The former owner had aftermarket axles on it to accommodate the 4in lift and idk what brand they are but they're skinny as heck and idk what boot to buy to rebuild with? It's the rear right lower boot (under the brake calp.). I'll post some pics when I can and sorry again I've missed yall on the forum!

i do actually, it works great, tho its hotwired and i never got it road legal.. but its still plenty fun just to run around and tear it up.. at some point i may sell it for parts or use parts off it for something else..

2001 yamaha warrior YFM350x won't fire up
JacobSlabach replied to Chase Cook's topic in Yamaha ATV Forum
Yea start simple, smell gas in tank so make sure it's not diesel or have water in it. Clean carb, black crap in gas sounds like gaskets in carb going bad or some other source of dry rotted rubber. I'd replace gas lines and fuel filter, clean tank and carb with some carb cleaner, check carb gaskets, throw it back together with some fresh gas and fire it up! -

2x4 or 4x4 shouldn't matter for wiring as long as it's the same year right? -
i just try stuff till it works.. also prolly why most of my stuff always breaks

i definitely hear the tick in the vid, i would double/triple check your timing and valve adjustment... maybe you adjusted it to the wrong tdc? its a 4 stroke so there are two. could be a belt valve, but sound to me like its out of time currently. why did he bring it to you? did it jump time on him or just wouldnt start one day or stopped while he was on the trail or what?

JacobSlabach replied to MarkinAR's topic in General ATV Discussion
my experience has been that for the most part (of course there are exceptions with everything) that polaris has the most reliable motors, trans and all.. but have smaller issues that come with any cvt independent susp atv. and personally id rather change an axle here and there then have the solid rear axle. and although the manual, footshift, and es bikes are a lot of fun to goof of with, when it comes to actually getting down the trail, id prefer a cvt drive-train. so i didnt know arctic cat used kawi motors- that would turn me away in a sec.. what years were they using kawi motors? were they having trouble with the suzuki motors too? so i think overall, it depends on what youre looking for.. a farm beat up machine that you need big power out of i little engine at low speeds, i might consider a footshift or es. for trail riding, mudding, or pretty much anything else, i would prefer a cvt. even with the belt/axle issues they have along the way. -

JacobSlabach replied to MarkinAR's topic in General ATV Discussion
yea...gotta be careful about getting water in the clutch on cvt units, best to treat it like an air intake. i have a 800 that will most likely blow a couple axles, just because ive lifted it 4 inches (max is usually 2-3in with stock a arms, axles, and no portals.. but its done great so far. same would happen to any atv even the bigger hondas like the rincon that have independent rear suspension.. -
