  1. I've bought tires from Dennis Kirk and Amazon. My son has also ordered me tires from where he works. Either way I've had to have them mounted either by myself or somewhere with a machine. Dennis Kirk is good. Been dealing with them since the late 80's. Right now two of my rigs are running ITP mud lyte's and I think I'm getting a set for another soon.
  2. Just gotta keep looking and asking. Don't be afraid to rebuild/restore one if it's the right price either.
  3. My son got his Tri-Z finished. Full resto mod. Polished a lot of parts and even used heat shrink clamps on the hoses. Lots of cool little attention to detail. First official ride not around my house was at Horsepower Park in Morganton, NC (the old Antioch Speedway). The track was a bit rutted from the recent rain/flood we've experienced but still was able to fly through turns 3-4. This thing is a blast! Daniel Z rip.mp4
  4. Your weight positioning is different and for the life of me I cannot ride with a twist throttle on an ATV. It was something people did back in the day because they thought it was cool or because "my thumb gets sore". I can ride the sh** outta my dirt bikes and motorcycles with a twist throttle. I can ride the sh** outta my atv's and atc's with a thumb throttle. Putting a twist on an atv (rode a Yamaha Tri-Z with a twist a week ago as a matter of fact) feels like suicide. Maybe ok on the slower stuff, but on the Tri-Z you just can't get your weight right with balancing your throttle hand.
  5. Used to use Purple Power. Lately I think Super Clean works a little better. I spray it on and hose it off with a pressure washer. Garden hose will be ok, but pressure washer works that much better. Sometimes I just have to bust out the wash mitt on my plastics though and have at her like washing a car.
  6. I have to agree. Not all of those Chinese atv parts are universal to fit in one another just because the plug matches. Sometimes you need to look at the plugs and match wire colors (which are typically more universal among them). Maybe it's somebody at the factory making a mistake, doing it on purpose, or maybe there's no rhyme or reason. I've been through a couple Kazuma ATV's through the years and found it was best to just buy parts straight from Kazuma. I still have one as a matter of fact. Maybe you can buy parts from the manufacturer once you realize the issue. Hopefully you get this sorted out.
  7. Started when I was a kid. We had a sand pit, (they used to haul sand/dirt from there as a business) behind our house. My friends and I used to go back there and ride our bikes. Not a whole lot to do there on a bmx bike, but we used to watch all the people riding their 3 wheelers, dirt bikes, and occasional Odyssey. We always dreamed of owning our own one day. To kick things off my friend got ahold of an old rear engine lawnmower which we quickly converted to off road use. New pulleys, belt, and ditched the deck. Eventually we got some used atv tires for the rear. Fastest we got clocked was something like 35mph. He then got a Honda ATC200X. Well, I really had started asking around at that point. I had a job (I was 14) and had a little bit of money. A coworker told me he had an old atv in his yard I could have! Turns out it was a Suzuki LT125 with 4 flat tires, busted pull rope, and no spark plug. 2 tires got tubes, got a new plug, and that's where I learned the value of getting actual pull start rope instead of regular rope from the hardware store. Pay the money and do it right. It was a great starter atv, but I always lusted after the atc's, finally getting my own ATC200S. From there it would lead to more three wheelers from Honda and Kawasaki, dirt bikes, then back to atv's. Currently I have one of each (atv, atc, dirt bike) in my stable.
  8. Last video I did and a bit of a rocky day there. Still had fun, still couldn't keep up with my son on the 400EX, but we switched halfway through the ride.
  9. Nice wheeler. I've fixed up a couple old Polaris's recently. This one is my wife's. Next is my son's 350L. Just got the cylinder back from Rick Ritter. Long wait, but worth the quality.
  10. No clue what that seat fits... The fenders are in pretty good shape. I will be removing the black flares from them though to put back on my other Polaris. $100 gets everything but those black fender flares/mud flaps. Local pickup in Asheville, NC. Not trying to kill myself trying to package these, just pass along a good deal.
  11. I've always loved trikes. My son apparently must've picked up on that. Not only did he surprise me with an 85 Big Red to restore, but he picked himself up an 85 Tri-Z to restore as well. He's definitely got a lot more money and labor wrapped up into his, but damn she looks sweet. Just finished his this week and he just can't stop staring at it. I tell the kids they'll be burying me with my Big Red.
  12. I have the Maier ones on mine. They're not too bad. Factory looks cleaner though. Good luck finding them affordable though.
  13. Looking for something not too far from Western NC (Asheville area) where my son and I could go and open up on a track, but not be overwhelmed with dirt bike themed jumps. I'm too old to jump huge doubles and step ups and he's on a Tri-Z. I remember seeing one track further east at a private run park, but can't remember the name. Looked like an oval with some small table tops that you could really open up on.
  14. Wayehutta isn't too bad. It's never been crowded any time I've been there. Last time I went, which was earlier this year it seemed rockier than usual. Rattled a few things loose on my 85 Big Red, but my 05 400EX held up just fine.
