  1. Looking a little closer this part does not go to the Bayou if fits the KLX300, part# 11060 probably just came in the universal gasket kit.
  2. Hard to tell exactly from the photo , but appears to be a new thermostat gasket that goes into the head.
  3. If i was buying one that new i would not buy it without a title. In Mississippi a title it is not required. Of course you have to have a title to tag it but even if tagged you cannot ride it on the road, they dont consider them road worthy. If i owned one that new i would want it completely legal with tag and title whether or not i could ride it on the road would not be considered. I had one with a snorkel it got in my way more than it helped, so i took it off, but i generally dont ride deep enough in the swamp to need it, its not fun when you get stuck in neck deep wter any way, been there done that dont want to do it again. I havent riden any new ones but im assuming the electric reverse is just electric shift, which is fine, no big problems with that i know about.
  4. I would probably try wrapping with header wrap to nock down the heat , but 650 is quite hot, sometimes the ceramic inserts in the cat get brittle and break pieces can get lodged in the exhaust outlet causing heat build up, but yours is so new i dont expect that has happened, just a thought. I have never worked on one with a catalitic converter, but if it is equipped it probably also has an o2 sensor MAP sensor crank sensor and others that are relaying information to the ECU to adjust engine performance. Have you seen any warnings on display or is there a code reader port to get information from ECU
  5. Very nice colt, you should be able to buff and polish that out.
  6. Cant go wrong with a honda, of course i say that, but it also depends on how bad it has been abused and neglected, you can usually tell by looking wheather the previous owner cared about his machine kept in garage or out in the weather. I like manual transmissions also i feel like they have more power in lower gears, and i like the control of manual on rough rocky terrain. Automatic is much easier just give it throttle and it goes nothing much else to think about. Not sure which one you are looking at but honda has an automatic transmission that is not CVT belt drive, very expensive to repair when it goes south , but they are very tough, if it has been taken care of you should get good service out of it.
  7. That is an excessive amount of heat, did this start recently or been a problem since new. If it is recent i would say you have a partially clogged Catalitic converter.
  8. Im kind of a tool Junkie myself, i cant stand to be working on something and not have the right tool.
  9. If this is an aftermarket carb, sometimes the throttle cable is not adjusted proper for the fit. Make sure the throttle plate is closing all the way and the choke plunger is working properly. Try some starting fluid and see if it makes some noise if it does it will run just have to get the mixture right.
  10. If you are not getting fluid to the caliper master cylinder is probably bad. You should not be having these problems on one so new.
  11. Mounting tabs are tough because you dont really have enough platic to repair with, the tool comes with some fine screen that you can cut and melt into the plastic to give it some support. I have had better luck repairing those with fiberglass with the cloth and the resin, very messy and lots of fumes.
  12. I have the Harbour Freight one it works well, i have never seen a Dewalt one.
  13. You could also check the throttle plate to make sure its opening all the way at full throttle. You can adjust the cable to make sure that is happening. You dont want to adjust it so far that the plate does not close completely , there is a fine line for it to be correctly adjusted. Im not sure about which wire would be cut to increase speed.
  14. I agree with Jen typically white smoke is water getting into the combustion chamber, usually from a blown head gasket.
  15. Agreed, shaft drive requires less maintenance.
  16. There is a throttle restrictor on the housing, i just assumed you had already checked that, it is a small screw to keep you from going full throttle, mostly there so you can set to keep young unexpierienced riders from going full throttle.
  17. Good choice very nice rides, as we get older we dont snap back from mishaps as easily as when we were younger, found that out the hard way in my 60s , i am also a motorcycle rider but now mostly ride ATVs. Not quite the same thrill but close.
  18. If you put on a smaller rear sprocket it would increase your speed but decrease torque.
  19. Welcome to the forum. You have excellent rides, enjoy.
  20. Just answered your other post, now i know the engine it should be between 60 and 90 and it does have a decompression valve, so you are on the low end.
  21. Should be about 140, maybe less if it has a compression release, not sure which motor it is.
  22. Good work! I built one for motorcycles do a lot of that kind of work, the only problem i have is getting them on and off i ended up mounting a winch to get them on and off, kind of works.
  23. I have too many and some have to stay outside, just needed something heavy duty to keep the water off.
  24. Agreed the platic welder doesnt do the prettiest repair. I usually do it from underneath just to hold the pieces together then on top you just have a crack to deal with . I have even used hot glue to fill the crack, but generally use epoxy to fill the crack them sand it smooth, it generally works very well.
