  1. Thats great news! Good work finding the loose ground sometimes they are hard to track down.
  2. There are many things it could be, but the way you describe it sounds like its loosing connection after initial spark maybe arcing from a loose ground. I would check to make sure the coil is grounded and also that you have good ground to your CDI. You know you are getting voltage there or it wouldnt spark at all, if all that checks out you can check the harness and start switch for possibly corroded terminals. I assume you have tried a new plug.
  3. Good job getting the float height corrected hopefully that will solve your issue. When the handle bars rotated it might have pulled the throttle cable causing it to rev up, if it is an electrical malfunction from pinched wire etc on the switch it should not have revved up to wide open unless carb is misadjusted, i would think that would be a problem with the throttle cable causing that.
  4. Hondas are great. I also like the Big Bears and Kodiaks early 2000s, Kawasaki Bayou is a great one. Also the Suzuki King Quad. Always heard good things about Polaris but never owned one.
  5. You are doing great you have spark now. Hopefully your timing issue will be the flywheel key and you will be up and running.
  6. Oh no, No feelings hurt here. I remember the Skidoo havent seen one of those in a while.
  7. Can-Ams are fairly rare in my area and i have never worked on one, and i have never seen a 250 at all. We dont know all the answers but just wanted to let you know someone is listening. I did a couple of searches and came up with the same part # that you already had, nowhere did i find the size just part #. So you did good to find the size.
  8. Thank you for loading the manuals, really appreciate your effort.
  9. Thats a nice looking UTV never seen one but have heard good things about them. Does it work or what kind of problems are you having.
  10. Is this the electric hybrid one or a conventional engine.
  11. Sorry my input wasnt very helpful, but glad you found one.
  12. Yes that would be the one ,it tell you which color wire goes where if you get an OEM switch, but aftermarket switches dont always come with the same color wires as OEM so you have to figure out which wire goes where by taking the switch apart ans visually inspecting.
  13. Good choice replacing the carb, i dont spend my time trying to repair aftermarket carbs. Just get a new one OEM is better but expensive and the last few aftermarkets i have tried have been good idle perfect runs very well through all the speeds but if you want full throttle perforce it is not there on an aftermarket carb.
  14. Not sure on this one , generally when i get one im not sure about i measure it in mm and order one to fit, thread pitch is usually 1.0 but i found that you can order a whole set for just a little more than one would cost, if you do a lot of this.
  15. Thanks for posting.
  16. Not in the VIN # but you can do an online VIN search and it will give you the model # i have done that with serveral that i was not sure of the model # on.
  17. Great repair site. Good luck with your renegade.
  18. I would probably check the pickup coil for proper resistance and that it is putting out voltage first, the value should be listed in your repair manual. If you dont have a manual you should try to get one. Is your new CDI aftermarket, sometimes they dont work right out of the box, if the original CDI is OEM dont throw it away until you are sure thats the problem.
  19. Welcome! Good luck with your project. Moto4s are good machines.
  20. What are you calling cheap, you can get a set of Kendas for a liitle under 300 and Sun F a little less, they both have good ratings. Thats less than 75 per tire and i havent seen any off brands much cheaper than that.
  21. I have seen some of those guys also, really acting the fool, you need to respect the machinery or you will get hurt, they not only need a helment but body armour as well. I understand i was young once, my philosophy was, if you cant feel the wind in your hair whats the point of having a head, but many years later and not a whole lot of hair left i wear a helment. Except for when im just pulling stuff around the yard in a trailor.
  22. I run dino oil in older ATV dont know if its better but i try to stick with manufacturers recommendations. Some older quads you had a choice synthetic has been around a while. I also stick to manufacturer brands only because all oil has gotten expensive and the manufacturer oil is not that much more. The cheapest option is Rotella 4 and there has been contraversy as to its compatability with wet clutches.
  23. I feel shaft is more reliable but chain is more responsive thats why you see them more on sport bikes with shaft drive on utility.
