I suspected that , but figured that was the first thing you checked, good you found it.

From what you describe it sounds like the transmission is working properly, i was just sitting here pondering over what it might be, from the symptoms it sounds like the clutch is not working, disengaged, if i had a manual clutch and pulled the hand lever it would do exactly as you describe.

Good advise Mech, i had been wondering if it might have been the extra washer that was talked about putting in because of the damaged crank threads ,but wasnt sure if it was actually put in or not

Yeah cover off everything back apart, i would get a honda manual, i used to use haynes but they were kind of vague and covered too many years, and photos werent very good, but yours maybe good havent looked at it, lay everything out and put it back exactly like the diagram, im sure you did that, just a double check. While everything is off check also to make sure it is shifting from neutral, wheels turning, to gear, wheels not turning. Im hoping your problem is not there but doublechecking doesnt hurt.

I think its from restoring all these years, i like for it to look good when i finish, wont stay that way very long, but that at least it looked good when i finished.

I agree i would never try to rebuild an aftermarket carb, the kit you buy for OEM would not fit correctly, but i am just assuming that i have never tried and never seen a kit that specifically stated for Niche, Kipa or any of the aftermarket ones. The kit i bought for my suzukis OEM carb fit it good and the jets had the correct numbers on them, still thinking i would like to measure them next to the jets that came out and see if they are the same, or worn, but havent got to it yet.

I use electronic contact cleaner for the switches and connections not sure what mass air flow sensor cleaner is , never used it, but it should work. Sounds like it is electronic cleaner.

I havent really done a whole lot to my project lately, been busy with other things but i did go out today and started putting it back together to get it to where i can test ride it. Plastics look much better.And got all side cover accessories back on pull start , footrest, etc.

Hopefully the reduction gears has slipped out of place, grease is better on the gears but oil is fine for at least a test. Shouldnt have caused a problem

Just trying to understand you can get it to go into all the gears with assist from the foot shifter , but the wheels will not move, meaning they are stuck or wont move with the engine running in gear. Now i have confused myself. If you crank it up put it in gear will the wheels move.

Good job finding that, sometimes electrical insufficiencys are hard to find.

Good you are riding now, been away a little bit and missed a few things, trying to catch up, one of the OEM carbs i had didnt have any numbers on the jets either, so i replaced them with a kit, suposedly a good kit, All Balls, kind of a strange name but had good ratings, should have bought OEM suzuki jets , if i had it to do over i would and still might. But they are 30.00 each kind of pricy for jets.

There is a guy on Ebay that seems to be a Mikuni dealer he sells Mikuni carb kits, if i had a Mikuni i would check with him to see if he had a kit for my carb.Nikki cycle.

97, Because of the angle i dont see how you could put one in like the idle adjustment screw. What i have done so i can set the air screw while its running is either use a 90 degree screw driver, mine is a craftsman, or i have a bosch screw driver bit set that comes with a little ratchet the bits fit into, i have used that, i have also taken a screwdriver heated and bent it to the correct angle you need. All of these worked for me. It may be possible to do what you ask, but i have never tried it.

Good plan, I would check for numbers on the jets to make sure they are correct and get the emulsion tube out to clean it that was part#6 and go from there.

I have went back through all the posts, it took a minute or two, you have done quite a bit of work to the carb with no change, changed needle positions , cleaned carb a multitude of times, there should have at least been a noticable change, if not better, worse. Im not convinced this is a carb problem, but it could be. On rare occasions i have had a carb that no matter how many times i cleaned it just would never run exactly right, until i replaced the carb, still dont know what the problem was. To check it, do you have a carb from your parts bike you can clean put on to try. Just a thought. Also have you checked the compression, the engine sounds really good i dont expect to see a problem there but it might be worth checking. Im also thinking about the pickup coil i know its working and they usually either work or dont work, but because of your continued problem i might check that over really good again, connections, resistances and maybe even inspect for wires that may be loose and not keeping up with spark on the higher RPMs. Im just hashing everything over in my mind trying to think of options that might be causing this.

The jets i took out of the first one i rebuilt had the correct jet # on them for that carb, but the all balls kit i bought also had the correct number on the jets, i dont remember seeing a number on the needle, i will look again with a magnifying glass, they seem to be printing these numbers smaller as i get older.

I have wondered that same thing about carb kits, i bought a more expensive kits to rebuild mine that had good ratings, because i didnt know anything about the carb, both ebay carbs, wheather it had already had a cheap kit put in it, i guess the only way to know for sure on an old used bike is to but new suzuki jets and needle. Unless i can figure out a way to tell if i have original suzuki jets. Still working on that. Yours may not be original either, how do you know.

I thought your video was good, except couldnt see what the exhaust looked like, i heard the bog a little bit, but didnt see any backfire, i thought it ran fairly well for an old engine, i thought the blow back seemed excessive but Mech thought it was normal and im not that expierenced on your age King Quad. How does it do when you driving it ,is it worse, or does it die. or is that when it backfires, also if you take it up slowly to the revs is it better worse or the same.
