  1. Thaks for the tip, i didnt know that, i would have thought vasoline would have been the safest
  2. ATVs, side by sides, but there is a general talk forum, anything goes.
  3. I have got them on Amazon before, but you should be able to put the 11 on it, it just wont be as wide as the 12. will be not as wide as the 12
  4. Very nice, even got my favorite tires. Good find!
  5. I have been to several high end auctions at Barber Motorsports, they are lots of fun, more motorcycles than ATVs , but surprized at how low some really good stuff goes for.
  6. According to JD power value of 94 Quadrunner 4x4 in excellent condition is 3000 and in very good condition 1800, King Quad was not on their list. Sounds like you did good.
  7. Never tried that thanks for the tip
  8. Thats strange it must have unlocked something when you put it in neutral, good, i thought it would take more than that to lock up a honda engine, even with no oil, but check the oil anyway to make sure its good.
  9. I know every state is different but i went to a few of those auctions, my expirience is if there was anything good it was pulled out before the auction started, most of the stuff was trashed, missing parts, bent frames locked up rear ends etc, the auction is only as good as the people that are running it. So i had better luck with Bonam and Henderson auctions they have them occasionally in my area.
  10. Great user info here appreciate it
  11. Sounds to be in good shape.
  12. I would go with a 250 they are physically smaller and not quite as powerful as 450 but plenty of power for a young rider.
  13. Just kind of brushed it off, thought ,well i guess harley connectors will work.
  14. I would definately check the compression, valve may not be sealing, those engines are fairly resiliant but could have a broken ring, i havent worked on to many arctic cats but i dont remember having to pull the engine to change rings.
  15. Oh you were riding high on those bikes, we just had little tiddlers but they were probably hondas most reliable engines, pushrod, only a few came over in the early 60s they were so smooth and quiet, no overhead cam and tough as nails.
  16. Im really not that familiar with Polaris , they may sell generic connectors for them, but the Japanese models dont.
  17. Depending on the size of the hill that may be normal if you are in high gear. Does it climb without bogging in low gear, the big bear lowest gear is like a granny gear. They are rough.
  18. I have run into that problem also i just buy used wiring harness off ebay cut the ones you need out and wire them into the original, keep the rest for spares.
  19. Nice article, pelican cases are great i have used them for years transporting and storing photo equipment. They are tough, reliable and water tight.
  20. I really enjoyed reading your story, thanks for sharing, brought back lots of memories, my brother had one of those 50s. I has a 90 but mine had a clutch, fun little rides.
  21. Great you found those, they are sometimes hard to track down.
  22. I liked the idea because i sometimes like to ride around barefooted and toes seem to take more of a beating shifting than they used to never noticed it until recently, certainly it couldnt be thant im getting old.
  23. I would drain the oil out in a clean container in case you need to reuse it. Take the front cover back off and check the clutches for proper operation. It just suspicious that the engine seized shortly after you were working on the clutches and trans especially with all the trouble you have had getting them back in right. Too much water under the bridge to give up now, plus i always like to know why it failed, if for no other reason peace of mind. The engine may very well have seized if the oil pump stopped working.
  24. You are very knowledgeable and have checked everything and everything comes up good. The pickup coil puts out voltage and has the correct OHM specs. It concerns me that the OEM CDI smoked when you hooked up the battery, that tells me that either the CDI is internally shorted or it is not the correct one for the Quad. I dont trust aftermarket CDIs they can be hit or miss, i generally read the reviews some say they are perfect and other say they dont work at all. I would look in that direction, everything else seems to be working correctly. The only thing i might add it to make sure you have 12 to CDI and a good ground, check continuity from the wire to the coil, maybe feed 12 directly to coil and see if it actually creates sparks, i say this because i have had them OHM out correctly and not spark and it gererally turns out to be cap or wire. Im sure you have probably checked all these things, but thats all i can think of right now.
  25. Motor shoudnt have seized imm thinking the trans has got you locked up, did you try taking out the shift motor to see if it frees up the engine. Any noises before it seized.
