Unless size, shape, or mounting pattern matters to you, It shouldnt matter much. A starter solenoid works by the smaller 2 wires energizing a coil, that coil pulls the contact up and connects the 2 larger wires together until the coil is de-energized. If you are seeing some with only 1 wire I would assume they are using the machine as a the gound for the other side of the coil. A coil requires 2 point of connection, so Im assuming the second point is probably the frame in that situation.

So the white wire, coming from the ignition switch, when I turn the key to start, should energize? Or if I put power and ground the green wire that completes the circuit and the starter should engage? I’m thinking that the ignition switch might be the problem.

If this is your machine it looks like white is hot from your key and green is ground. (They dont show the wire for green, just that the other side of the coil is grounded with the ground symbol.)

If the green wire doesnt ring out to ground, then you may have another coil or something. Do you have a wire diagram for your particular model? Im not seeing anything online that is exact to your post title.

Another valid question; does your neutral light come on? Most of these machines dont allow power to the solenoid unless it knows its in neutral.

Ok I have a solenoid and ignition switch on the way. The owner said he started it at one point with the key. When I got it, turning the key did nothing. No dash lights, nothing. If I turned the key on jumper the solenoid it would crank over.

Awesome man, Im glad you figured it out. Have fun on it and be safe!

Thanks for the help. This thing is going to be used for doing stuff around the property. No joy riding. LOL I have my fun on 2 wheels. The wife likes the quad riding. She has a Honda rancher that we bought new in 07.

Work or play, quads make it better. Nothing like feeling the raw power in such a small package.

Raw power would be a big bore 2 stroke on 2 wheels. That’ll make your sticker peck out!

Been working on this teardown for a while. Special tools are needed in a few key areas such as Flywheel puller, Crankshaft 52mm wrench, wet clutch puller, etc.
I'm trying to get the wet clutch off now, and a few videos out there show it sliding right off.
      Mine isn't that easy.
I measured the clutch's female threads and determined the puller spec needs to be 37mm x 1.5 LH Male.
Anyone come across identical pullers from another mfg?
The Suzuki tool is tough to track down and expensive for basically a slide hammer-type puller.
Just need to figure out anther way to remove the wet clutch without applying too much pressure on the clutch plates to bend/break the plates or base. All thoughts are welcome to homemade tools. After this I need to cut out my own 52mm end wrench for the opposite side of the crank!

So I recently cleaned my carb on my 1986 Quadrunner 230GE and had to replace my fuel pump and now it seems im getting to much air and I can not use carb to adjust it I believe its coming in from either my air box or one of the air ducts or possibly the clear air container that is under front of quad that runs into the air filter bag but im not sure. Has anyone have any experience with this happening quad will idle super high and nothing can lower it except blocking off a air duct that leads to main air box i also have to check again for any cracks or leaks in air lines and box and ducts any advice will help im stumped ! What else can cause to much air coming in ? Could it be a leak from engine or top end ?

When running for a while the rancher will shut off without the fan turning on. We then took it to dealer where it was started and warmed up. The fan came on at the dealer so they then replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump. We got it back and ran good for a few days with the fan coming on when needed. Now its back to shutting off before the fan ever comes on. It seems like the time the fan should come on the bike shuts off. It will start after letting it sit for a few minutes. Any ideas of the problem?
