welcome to quadcrazy...you said "will not idle, back fires and bogs out when throttle is touched, have to keep pumping throttle to keep running"

a little thrown off by this..so when you say pump the throttle are you referring to pumping the throttle prior to starting or while it is running? Also did you bring it to the dealer with this problem or after they serviced it did you have this problem?

My best guess from the info you have the engine is being starved of fuel and the carb needs to be adjusted. Probably the wrong fuel to air ratio,,,but thats a maybe not totally sure yet

sorry if i wasnt clear, ..issue started like this- was driving and it acted like i was running out of gas--had to keep pumping throttle to keep it running...got it home noticed gas running out of bottom of carb on to engine.so i took carb off(figured stuck float),cleaned carb and put back on ,stopped the gas from running out bottom but still ran the same. so figured carb issue,,,,took carb to dealer- they rebuilt,,,tested carb--said carb works perfect....so i put back on,,,still ran the same,,,still have to keep pumping throttle to stay running....so i changed plug,airfilter..still no change...the point im at now is..will start after pumping the throttle couple times,,,will idle.but as soon as i touch throttle it tries to die and back fires. but if i pump the throttle faster and faster it will pick up and run ????????

I would start by checking to make sure gas it getting to the carb, check the fuel lines and petcock. Then I would check the folowing things if you are still having problems; ignition timing, valve lash, timing chain, flywheel key, coil, coil wire, plug cap and CDI.

I would take a reciept from the second repair back to the first dealer and DEMAND that they refund your money.

Just some friendly advice on new tires. Check with your ATV dealer.
There are so many aftermarket sites, Revco, Royal Distributing, Partzilla, and on and on. Even with their “ big sales”, my local Canam dealer’s REGULAR price beat the tire prices of the 3rd party sellers! People often assume the Dealership will cost them more, but I found this not to be true!

I rebuilt the carb on said machine. When I hook up the auxiliary gas tank it runs fine and everything is cool. When I put the fuel tank on and hooked up the lines, it completely flooded the cylinder and even about an inch of fuel in the air box. I'm pretty sure that it comes from the little hose on the petcock and hooks to the top of the carb. WTH is that even for? I mean the thing runs fine on the auxiliary tank, so idk And on the petcock when it's in the "on" position, I get no fuel. The petcock from the bike I took it apart and checked out how it operates. The sharpie marks indicate how it really works. Now the other petcock w/o the sharpie marks is an old one that was leaking that I removed from a Polaris quad. It's exactly the same thing, except the small hose and nipple have been removed. I'm so confused, LOL

I'm working on a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 400 with shift indicator problems. The indicator panel only will show Neutral and Reverse. If it's in High or Low, the indicator will show "R".
I have replaced the three position indicator switch on the transmission. There is also a two position switch on the tranny that I didn't replace. If anyone is familiar with this problem, please let me know what I need to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

When I bought my atv.its missing the air filter.on the parts diagram.it shows the air filter cage separate.but in my air filter box.it looks like it has an air filter cage fastened to air filter box.do I need a air filter cage on top of piece in air box.

I recently picked up a  2000 warrior 350 and it doesn’t have the air filter box so I was thinking about using a clamp on filter directly on the carb.  Anyone know what I need to get or where I can find it? The one I ordered goes in the box and won’t fit directly on the carb.
