Okay so I put a video up on youtube for audio and visual refferences. I seem to be having some issues with the fuel delivery now. I took my stock airbox off and i am running straight UNI Filters and a 147.5 main jet and the e-clip on my mid throttle pin is all the way down on the 5 notch, making the needle as high as it possibly can go. It seems that no matter what I do the thing runs rough in low to mid throttle, but wide open and idle it runs fine. refer to video. I have a 145 main jet a 150 main jet and a 152.5 main jet. I am at a 1130 feet elevation, no airbox, in the video my quad is currently set up with a 147.5 jet, and e clip all the way down on the pin making it the highest it can go. it sounds VERY throaty and feels like it misses, but I think it might be something else. Thats about the best I can describe it in words, the rest will have to be done by listening to it. Here is the link [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRsan-PPgGE]YouTube - Yamaha Warrior Problems[/ame]

If you have any suggestions, or know what settings I should be running on my carburetor let me know, I want to take it out riding, now that it is running, and now that the tempurature is below 100 degrees consistently!

Before I was having issues with the stator and the clutch (got those fixed). Now its the fuel mixture/delivery.

Well after taking the stock airbox off and running a straight UNI filter, i would hope that the quad is getting to much air, thats why I stepped up the main jet from a 145 to a 147.5. The mid throttle pin settings and the main jet settings are the only thing Im having problems with. I was hoping someone might know the settings for both of these on ANY YFM350 motor. Whether it be a Raptor or a Warrior. If someone has run into this and figured out the solution, please let me know.

I think you may have the clip moved too far down, I would start with it in either the stock position or maybe 1 down from stock. Since you are at a relatively high elevation and in a warm climate, there is less oxygen in the air, so you shouldn't need to be too far off of the stock, sea level settings. I would start by raising the needle clip back up and then maybe make an adjustment to the pilot screw. One think at a time though. The pilot circuit will affect things from idle to about 1/4 throttle, the clip position can start having an effect as early as 1/8 throttle and will continue to have an effect up until 3/4 throttle, but it will affect things sooner, when the needle is set higher. Don't forget to check your plug, that is your best way of checking how well you quad's jetting is set.

I have a 1990 Bayou 220 that runs pretty well for it's age--needs a new muffler, but sounds tough.    Have had to start with a pull cord since I got it, and recently started troubleshooting the start button.  Finding a lot of information on this issue in the forum, but haven't been able to chase it down yet.  Got a new battery, new starter solenoid, and going to replace the starter relay this week, but not convinced that's going to do the trick, since I can't get the neutral light on when turning the key on.  I can start it by jumping the solenoid, but the 2 black wires to the relay do not activate the starter.  Bad ground or a short somewhere?  Is there a good way to just test the ground?

I hadn't driven my Kodiak for a two months, and since it was low on fuel, the first thing I did was filled it up to maybe 7/8 full. Getting ready to start it, I rotated the fuel selector switch to "on" and within seconds I smelled and saw fuel dripping onto the floor. I quickly turned it off and the fuel gradually stopped - I can repeat this.
The fuel is flowing from the hose that is connected to the bottom of the carb, and routes around to the left side toward the wheel well. Any idea what's going on here? It ran fine the last time I had it out.
      Thanks...

If anyone is having issues with the Mikuni VM24SS carb, I thought I would post what issues I had and how I resolved them.
Acquired a 93 Bayou 220 that had sat for over 4 years.
The carb was extremely corroded and pitted and full of leftover fuel.
Cleaned carb and bowl and was able to get the engine to start.
Within 30 seconds exhaust would heat up and start to glow red hot.
Removed carb and recleaned everything, including a second overnight soak.
Needless to say, after removing the carb for the 5th time and my frustration to the limit I
realized that my attention had been to the carb body and not to the bowl.
There is a small brass rod on the bottom of the carb that goes down into the float bowl but is seperated from the main section. I had cleaned that area very well....I had thought.
***The corrosion had sealed off the channel that runs from the main bowl section to the small tube section on the side of the float bowl. No amount of carb cleaner was going to get it to budge. So i took a small nail and started to scrape away the corrosion and was eventually able to dislodge enought of the corrosion that carb cleaner would flow through that channel. ***
I thoroughly cleaned each side of the channel in the float bowl and reinstalled the carb and now the issue of it running lean is gone.
On a second note the fuel mixture screw was a nightmare to remove as the threads had been corroded and wouldnt let the screw come out. I used a little cutting oil and worked the mixture screw in and out until I was able to push past the corroded threads and completely remove the needle. After a couple passes with a tap to clean the threads it is like new again.
Hope this helps if you are having a lean running machine.

I bought a 1996 Sportsman 500 4x4 about a month ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing a few problems with the high-range gear. The first problem is that the gear selector will intermittently pop out of high and into neutral. This problem will sometimes occur when starting from a stop and sometimes will also occur while at cruising speed. The last time this happened I stopped and put it back into gear, however, as soon as I tried to throttle the machine would die. I turned it on again with no problems put it back into high and it died again. Once again I turned it on with no problems put it into low instead and it worked fine with no problem. I drove in low down the road slowly for a little and then shifted back into high with no issues.
I plan on working on it this weekend and would just like some opinions or feedback from anyone who may have experienced these problems before. I'm very mechanically inclined but im unsure of exactly where to start as this is the first Polaris ATV that I've owned. Any feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance
