Exploiting a loop hole in the law, turn 4 wheeler into rev trike

for a long while I have been trying to get a real 4 wheeler street legal.

the problem is with the state laws, if it has 4 wheels, its a car and has mega more rules.

If it only has 3 wheels, its a trike and can be made from cobbled junk parts held together with duct tape and they will plate it

I wonder if anyone would have insight on changing a 4 wheeler over to a single rear wheel?

[ I can't afford some $40-60,000 canam or super bike modded into a car, rev trike kit ]

I want something I can truly ride year round on and off road. Ive rode enough old Honda 3 wheelers that I know I do not want a traditional motorcycle trike. So the single wheel has to go out back.

Looks a bit goofy when he turned, maybe cause he used a reg rounded rear tire. With it now being like a car, trike or even a side car your not leaning to turn, so the rear tire can be wide and flat.

as if the front end isn't articulating when he turns, the rear end is leaning.

Though I do see a flaw, 4 wheelers are often geared for those tiny rear tires. a 16-17" rear tire could really mess up the gearing.

Can ya imagine that little tire on the yam I posted, spinning at 70+ MPH on the eway for a while?

Id almost like to do a rear tire like that, wide and flat. But not so small.

There was a time when I was in contact with a person in San Fran that converted a Raptor 660 into a reverse trike and made it street legal. He was going to do some more R&D and try to market a kit. But that was back in early 2000s..Not sure what happend to him..His screen name was Legaleagle on some trike sites..I also believe this was his ride..

Why would you take a perfect racing Yamaha and make it a trike? That is a disgrace

Because  he  can use it  on the  highway  in 3  wheel  mode   and  trail riding in  4  wheel setup..   Didn't  you  notice  it  only  takes him a  half  hour  to  switch  between  3  and  4  wheel  setup ?
I've  also  seen  conversions  done to   allow  a  snow mobile to  be  used in summer  as  a  rear wheel  driven trike.

I  think it would depend on the  state ( or province) what  modifications to  a  quad  or  snowmobile  would be  necessary to  make them road legal;  or even  if they  could be made road legal. Every state  and  province  has its own traffic laws so  anyone contemplating such a  project would be  wise  to  check  the legality of it  out  first. Here,  in  BC some rules governing  ATVs on  secondary  roads vary  between the much  less populated  and developed north, the  rural southern  areas  and the cities / primary   roads and  highways.

The   ATV  shown may have been  street  legal as a  trike (  trikes  are considered  motorcycles in BC) in  the  lower  mainland of BC  if  it  had  a speedometer; but  I wouldn't  guarantee  it.

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

Hi, I am having issues with my TRX350D fuel pump.  It suddenly stopped running so I have replaced all the fuses and cleaned all the terminals.  I have fitted a new pump, fuel cut-off relay and rectifier.  Still nothing!!  The pump runs when attached to a battery.  The engine will start on the choke and the filter fills with fuel but it will  not rev and dies when the choke is closed. I have power to the relay but nothing at the pump black/white wire when cranking the engine.  Any ideas where to go from here would be very much appreciated!!

My king quad 700 runs rough when cold then won't start some times but not often when it's hot. And occasionally smoke's a lot when it's cold I'm guessing that's rings but I'm worried unless it's causing the other problems

      All help is appreciated thanks

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.
