    Hey all, Just picked up two dead mid-90's Kawasaki Bayou 220s for $250. Already have one running on starting fluid and it sounds healthier than expected. Moving onto a thorough carb cleaning and refurb of the brakes next. These are our first ATVs and we're excited to make family memories on simple, approachable machines on our newly acquired land. In case anyone reads this, is it worth rushing to 10 posts here to get the Bayou 220 FSM if I already have a Bayou 250 FSM? Thanks, Matt

    Going 300 metres before conking out, and pettering slowly to a stop, makes me think it's slowly emptying the carb. I'd undo the drain screw on the bottom of the carb and watch it's flow keeps going after the bowl has emptied. If there is plenty of fuel getting to and through the carb then I'd take it off and clean it thoroughly. if there isn't a good flow I'd check it at the inlet to the carb in case it's the fuel tap/filter.

    It sounds like the main jet may be clogged or not getting enough gas, will it idle without choke.

    Have you tried downloading a service manual ? A manual should have the info you need.

    I can't answer your question but I can tell you this... I drove through the panhandle of texas a few years ago and loved it out there... I wouldn't mind moving tbh.

    We always used ATVs - 90s Polaris Sportsmans - to get to our camp in the bush. Growing up those were my favorite memories. Now I'm a mechanical engineer and I've been rebuilding a lot of the machines we used when I was younger. It's been great to address all the issues. I have no interest in mud bogging and crazy new machines, I really see ATVs as work machines to achieve a greater goal.

    Revisiting this one 11 years later..lol. I never went back to Bimini but have been watching some vids online. The video below is very recent and shows you Bimini today. I guess they have a hotel and casino now. The crew did some nice fishing and spear fishing as well. Good watch if you like fishing.
