  1. I've always used the traditional U-shaped holders on the front rack. As long as they are strong and securely hold your rifle to the bike without rattling around, you should have no problem with a decent quality scope holding zero. It also allows for quick access if your hunting requires it.

  2. I think you have to look at your location. In Texas, non-ethanol can be anywhere from 87 to 94 octane. Gasoline that is not labeled non-ethanol will contain ethanol regardless of it's octane rating. The non-ethanol fuel is close to $1 more per gallon. If regular high octane gas was ethanol free, I'd buy it and save some money.

  4. Another vote for rebuilding the OEM Mikuni. Use a Japanese JIS screwdriver instead of a #2 Phillips and you'll have a lot better chance of not stripping out the screw head. The bowl screws should be metric M4 screws. You can get the JIS screwdrivers and M4 screws on the jungle website. Sometimes I'll buy a Niche carb for the parts (other than the jets) if I need them.

  5. I found a small ultrasonic cleaner to be quite effective for cleaning up old carbs that have been sitting with fuel in them. You can also bag them in a zip lock bag full of cleaner to do multiple at once.

  6. lifting 6 inch Ibeam up to 8 foot height safely was with two (2) hoists. I stayed above the beam while lifting . One end sits on bracket secured to 6 x 6 post w (2) 1/2 inch bolts and beam bolted directly to the 6 x 6 post with 3/8 in bolt to prevent lateral or rotational movement on support bracket. Most anticipated loads are less than 1000 lbs; e.g. , zero turn mower, motor cycles (loading and unloading on trailer), and front end of Sand rail. 3/4 tn rachet hoist and trolly from Harbor freight. The antique drill press from Grandpa...LOL

  8. I have had my new tires for a while, chronic procrastinator, decided it was time to get them mounted up. Against my better judgement i decided to mount them myself. I got one of these Harbour Freight manual tire mounting machines, mounted it to a half pallet to make it more portable. Very impressed with the quality and amount of tools that came in the kit for a low price point. The bead breaker worked very well, i wasnt sure it would be able to do it, i think these tires are original to the bike its a 2004, but with enough lube, mothers concentrated car wash straight, it finally broke the bead. Tire fit very well on the machine and it tightened down good. The extra long pry bar that came with the kit worked well to get the outer rim of tire off. Half way there, half way there no issues, then it got serious. I pulled and i tugged had 3 prybars working this thing and it wouldnt budge no matter what i tried it would not come off, until i got the grinder out and cut it off. Im sure most of you see what the problem was. I didnt notice it until i was too far in to change direction. On this particular rim the tire goes on and off from the back side of the rim, not the front like what i was used to. The back side is the low side. Plus to add to the problem tires were old and not very strechy, i have a greater respect for how well these ATV tires are made with well reinforced sidewalls, even with the grinder it took me a minute or two to cut through it, of couse i was being very careful not to nick the rim. Anyway the HF machine worked well and the tire is off, hopefully the next one wont be this bad. Lot of hard work for an old man, glad i can still do it. Now for the fun part , cleaning up the old rim, years of stop leak and slime caked on the inside, that stuff dries hard, the little Milwaukee is good for getting into tight spaces, but wasnt quite up to the task. Needed a few more RPMs. Old rattlecan paint just flaked right off. Now time to decide on a new color, tired of the boring gray. More to come!

  9. Depending how old or stuck screws can get, I’d recommend an Impact Driver which uses a hammer. https://a.co/d/fmrS8Y3 A pick/hook set is good for getting o-rings out of carbs. And just make sure you have some different sockets/adapters/extensions to deal with the space constraints. Also, have some grease available and some notable ones after your multipurpose/moly are the dielectric and o-ring kinds. And as others mentioned, once you get to a specific task which requires special tools you’ll get them as required.

  10. Second tire coming off, bead breaker works very well. Easier off the rightway, good idea actually, if you happen to scratch up the rim it will be towards the back, not seen. This one had a mixture of water and slime, more cleanup time, water been in there a while i havent had it in water since i have owned it. Now trying to decide on rim color, like it will make any difference after one muddy ride. Just want it to stop the rust.

  11. You will never have enough tools, but the ones you only need once in your lifetimes list gets long. For most tasks you just need a regular socket set metric and a volt meter definately feeler guage, JIS screwdrivers, phillip will mess up the screw head taking it out. If you go to do the brakes the rear axle nut is large, not usually in a standard socket set. I would recommend only buying these specialty tools as you find a need for them.

  12. Thanks. Yep it looks like a wonderful site. No more motorcycles for me. Over the last winter I contracted a thing called Gillian Barre Syndrome that left me paralyzed. I am getting better every day but my balance is still off. Can't even walk right yet, but at least I am walking which is more than I could do 5 months ago so I'm a happy camper.

  13. Just bought a 2022 Polaris Sportsman 850 Premium, much smoother than the 2005 Kawasaki Bruteforce that I still have, It is like driving a Cadillac. Much easier to jump too. Still think a Bruteforce is a great quad though. I could have bought 2 Bruteforces for the price of the Sportsman too.
