  1. After another good soak in lacquer thinner and a ton of high pressure compressed air, it now idles like a dream and will scream at WOT. However, idle to 15% throttle still falls on it's face. I can feather the choke a touch to get it just above idle and once it's open, it will scream. But 0-15% throttle is still an issue. At least it's an improvement. The plan for right now is to let it sit with gas in the carb and run it again later tonight to see if it'll work normal. It reads like a vacuum leak since vacuum leak is almost negligible at WOT, but there is none on the intake boot and none on the diaphragm so I'm at a loss where that vacuum leak would be. Maybe a thin layer of silicone where the throttle diaphragm cap meets the carb body? Diaphragm itself is fine, no tears or holes, moves up and down fine with air. Unless the diaphragm itself leaks a minuscule amount between itself and it's seat...that could be an option that i couldn't diagnose from the outside of the carb and may cause the off idle loss of power.

  2. So here’s some updates. After a few months I finally got around to getting this thing into my garage. I was in the middle of giving my garage a little makeover and needed some time to make some room, clean up and throw some old sh** away. The bike is in great shape just super dirty and in need of a what I like to equate it as a colonoscopy! Lol. New parts are ordered and on the way. Clutch, chain, plugs, paint and a new bulb for the headlight. I found that the carburetor has 100% been opened up and tampered with. I can’t read the jetting so I’m assuming they are the oem stock jets 🙏🏻 However the air fuel mixture screw was set at 2-3/4 turns out. The specifications call for 1-3/4 so I guess we will have to see after it’s all back together. I’m going to set it at the spec and go from there. The machine has an aftermarket exhaust and I think that’s it for upgrades. I’m not opening the head up to see the cams or anything else because it seems to be in time as far as I can see and compression is good with a smooth turnover and the head bolts as well as all other engine bolts and nuts don’t appear to have any wrenching marks on them so I’m guessing it’s all stock. More to come soon!

  3. The vent hose coming from the top of my carburetor attaches to a small metal tube that is connected to the frame. Its located underneath the seat. I have an 07 honda trx400ex so I'm not sure if it will be the same for yours.
