  1. I take it as a feature, really easy to push start this way. 😊 Especially when the battery dies, or the switches just stop working for no reason other than the fact that it's cheap. Had a 2007 110cc Chinese atv with the same problem. Went through a few different clutches over the years and, even when they were worn out to the point where it couldn't make it up the smallest hills, it would still grip like no tomorrow when off. If I wanted to move it, I would just start it and let it idle while I pushed it around, or just picked up the back.

  3. No it can get going on a flat surface and going slow but any incline or going faster and it slips out. The belt did help a lot but quickly started getting harder and harder to go up hills as the days progressed.
  4. Wow it is so ironic that you say that. We went on a riding trip this week with some decent hill climbs (nothing that a 110cc Chinese atv couldn't make up though) By day three it was getting harder to get up hills with the new $70 dam* belt. And on day 4 we were riding over some jumps and all of a sudden we hear eeeeeeee and it stopped going. Now any pushing it will make it do it. I am going to take the rear end apart to see what broke now, but I noticed that after the axle almost falling off on its first ride and we took it in on warranty and had the guy fix it he said everything was good and no dirt got in the rear drive shaft well that dumba** never reattached the rubber boot so inside that tube is filled with dirt rust and debris. I will never buy a Polaris again or go to the dealer we got it from and as soon as I fix this piece we are selling it. So if anyone wants to buy it let me know honestly like I said our 110cc Chinese atv lasted longer this past week than the Polaris, now that's saying something.
  5. Alright finally got the clutch belt in and put it on. It does seem more responsive, like we dont have to push the gas as much to get it going. We dont have any real hills on our property so I cannot test that, but we are going riding the first week of april. So I will let you guys know how it performs, also is there anything I can do to make sure this belt lasts longer than a year? Thanks guys
  6. Ok another issue with this wonderful machine that I would greatly appreciate if you guys could spread shine light on. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdUgp-WuuSI]Polaris Phoenix 200 starter issue - YouTube[/ame] As you can see in the video it usually takes the atv at least two tries for the starter to grab the engine, sometimes more. It has been doing this since we got the atv and we asked the dealer after we first noticed it and they said it was normal. It doesn't seem normal to me since I have never seen an atv that was this bad with a starter. Also you can hear an odd noise right after you turn off the atv, like the starter is disengaging finally or something. The teeth on the starter are fine which is leading me to believe it is the starter gears themselves. Before I drop $100 on new gears, what do you guys think? Could it just be one? How can I tell? Again any help or insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. Alright finally got a chance to take it all back apart today and here's what I got. Here is a pic of that bearing you were talking about, but honestly it looks like it is just a rubber seal. I also sanded everything down and cleaned the belt. And used almost an entire can of brake cleaner on the thing. I bought a new belt, but I'm still waiting for it to come in. I also cleaned the bushings and everything slides freely. Also here is a video of me reinstalling the entire cvt assembly.   8. A ring set from polarispartshouse.com is about $30. I'd say at least a few hundred, to make it cheaper you could remove the engine from the frame and take that in which would lower their labor charges. I did it on a 110cc Chinese atv and it took me about 2 hours including taking the engine off the atv, but actually replacing the rings only took about 30-45 minutes. Good luck man
  9. Ok I'll check that out tomorrow if the weather lets up, your thought makes sense. I do know a guy who has done some machine work for the company I work for, that's a good idea better than spending $110 plus shipping for new ones. On the secondary it did not move freely it got stuck up when I squeezed/rotated it by hand, but then after I blew all the dust/dirt out it seemed to operate more smoothly. So again depending on the weather tomorrow I will try to do everything you suggested and let you all know how it turned out. Now what I'm also wondering is why did it do this in the first place. My wife weighs 150 which is nowhere near the weight limit and we are not extreme with it, just trail riding. I only ride it to load/unload it from the trailer or to move it somewhere almost never up a hill.
  10. Hey thanks for the reply. By bearing do you mean for the drive shaft going to the rear axle, because if so I'm going to be pissed. About a month after we bought the atv one of the bolts holding the rear axle onto the the atv came loose and caused the rear axle to separate from the transmission. Luckily she wasn't going up a hill because she would have been screwed . We took it to the dealer and they claimed they took it apart and cleaned it and nothing seemed damaged. But the rollers and slides looked good. I am going to take everything apart again and use brake cleaner. The front sheave has a slight groove in it which I'm guessing could be causing some trouble, but I'll try sanding it down and see if it helps, would you say 400 grit is good? The secondary clutch looked good except for the heat marks, but I'll pop it off again and inspect the springs for the weights this time. But for parts needing replaced would you say I should get a new belt soon since it probably is worn down past the tolerance level, which by the way does anyone know what the tolerance range is for the width of the belt.   11. Ok everyone here is my wonderful dilemma, any help or insight will be EXTREMELY helpful. 2010 Polaris Phoenix ridden by my wife. Last year we were riding and after going up some decent hills there was an awful smell of burning brakes. well since then she has a hard time going up almost any hill and really has to get a head start to get up the steeper ones. So today I took it all apart and found a lot of dust in there and blew it all out. I also notice the rear clutch is wobbly you can see I'm trying to show it in my video, also you can see in the video the atv seems to jerk a lot when I press the gas. Also in the video you can see when I squeeze the belt the rear shaft stays out and the belt stays loose, is this normal? It did not seem to be doing this as bad after I took the rear clutch apart and blew all the dust out. The weights also look like they have some signs of excessive heat The belt doesn't seem to bad although it does seem a little bit shiny on the sides possibly meaning it has glazed over? The front clutch doesn't seem bad at all and the rollers looked in good shape So what I am wondering from the pics and the video is, what parts do you guys think need replaced? I am guessing the weights on the rear clutch need replaced and possibly the belt. What do you guys think? Thanks
  12. AW darn, oh well I will have to try and find one unfortunately my hard drive crashed a while ago so I lost a lot of pics and vids but I'll look. And Wellsville is like the biggest place to ride in Ohio with ridiculous trails and hill climbs. It is right on the border of Ohio and PA.

  16. Can anyone who has a suzuki eiger test their RR with the part that mine failed on? I just got one today and I'm still having the same problem and it too failed that same test. I want to return it to the Ebay seller, but I want to make sure it is really bad. Thanks Guys
  17. So do you think the old stator was bad as well since it failed the resistance test? I'm figuring that maybe the stator failed and that caused the RR to fail as well, or vice versa. Either way I found one for $30 so once that comes in I'll let you guys know. Thanks again.
  18. So does that mean they are going to come loose soon should I put some epoxy or something around them to help them hold better? Also I am checking it with it plugged in. EDIT: Ok I checked it with it disconnected (had to hook up to my car for it to run) and at idle I'm getting 12 VAC and at increased engine speed I'm getting 50 - 60 VAC. I found a walk through test for the stator and regulator rectifier and I'm pretty sure it failed one of the tests for the RR. They look good they are evenly spaced and are all stuck on there extremely tight, also the rotor will not turn without turning the engine, so I guess that rules those out, what else should I look for. So I checked the output voltage directly from the stator and I was getting 3 AC volts with the old one now I'm getting 8 AC volts which explains the higher voltage at the battery, what it does not explain is why the difference? I'm starting to think maybe I got a bad stator. I took some pics of the insides so you guys can see my setup. Thanks
  20. Well now im lost I replaced the stator and now at idle I'm getting 9.6 - 11.2 volts and when i increase the engine speed it goes down to 3.2 and just hovers there. So it seems like it has gotten better but what else could be causing the low voltage. Im starting to think it is the regulator/rectifier since the voltage jumps so much, but could it also be the magneto(rotor part)?
  21. Ya thats what I read somewhere so I went ahead and bought one off of Ebay for $150, has 1 year warranty pretty good deal. I should get it soon I already got the thing apart and the old one out so as soon as it comes in I'll put it in and let you know. Thanks for your time and info.
  22. Ok ya I tested it in AV and it hovered around 2.1 volts? Does that sound any better or no?
  23. Ya the voltage is coming directly from the wires inside the engine, right at the first set of connectors, so that is before any voltage regulator or rectifier. I was measuring in DC volts, should it be AC? I remember reading somewhere that there are two parts to the stator one for running the ATV and one for the charging system,lights, etc. I have tried a fresh battery and it will start normally and the lights will work until the battery runs out and dies then nothing works again. So the battery and cables seem good it just is not getting charged. Is there a way to test the regulator/rectifier, and do you possibly know where it is/ what it looks like? Thanks

  25. Well i guess take the switch apart and jump the contacts in there and see if it starts if it does then it probably just needs a good wire brushing otherwise its a wiring issue. We went to Hatfield a few years ago. It sucks though cuz we are about 45 min south of cleveland and all the good atv places are like 2-3 hours away from us. Oh well it is worth the drive. My wheel bearing went out on my Eiger over the weekend at Wellsville, so we took our 2000 Jeep GC out on the trails. It did pretty good even with street tires and no lift. That was FUN. Hey good luck with the starting issue man I just gave up on my boys and just jump the contacts now, maybe I'll tear it apart this winter
