  1. You can check the resistance readings on the coil to see if its up to spec. Put your meter on OHMs touch the one small terminal with one lead and the mounting tab to the other for primary resistance it should be .1-.2 . Secondary resistance touch the spark plug boot to the small terminal set your meter to M OHM it should be 6000-10000 OHMs.
  2. I thought the rear brakes were spring actuated with a rod going to the hub arm from petal , no master cylinder for rear, unless im understanding wrong, only mater cylinder for the front, this is for your 2000 300 right. There are wing nuts on the end of the rod from the petal to adjust brake tension and cable going from the hand lever to rear brake.
  3. You might try used on eBay if you absolutely need parts.
  4. I have seen a few around but they want money , haven't seen any free ones yet.
  5. You will enjoy it lots of fun ahead.
  6. I would try to salvage as much of the parts as possible, just looking at OEM parts, really expensive, 1000.00 for rotor and stator, hope the stator isn't damaged, rotor should cleanup all right , you can get the broken bolts out, clean up the ratchet Pauls, couldn't really tell by the photos what else might be damaged. I know you don't want to sink a lot of money into it, or you will have more in it than its worth, Im running into the same problem with my Big Bear im fixing.
  7. They should put instructions in the box, that none of us read.
  8. I have heard the same thing, also the smaller arctic cats, Polaris and Canam are the same as well. Kymco (Korean) has really stepped up their game lately, from what Im told they are very good ATV.
  9. Those ratchet pauls look pretty worn, but, I might try it out to see how it works before buying new parts
  10. Sometimes it just takes a lot of tension and time and lubrication to soak in to get it to pop off. I know the sound, sometimes it sounds like a gun going off when they pop free. I have destroyed pullers by getting in too big a hurry, I have had good luck with the air hammer along with the puller.
  11. Thats great, you found it , good that you caught that's, easy to overlook.
  12. I know when to comes to these parts , you might get away with reusing, but I would replace the rotor and stator, can't really tell about the pull starter parts are they all there.
  13. Yes, you are right I have done it so many times taking the hard way to try and save money and end up spending almost the same, you would think after a while I would learn my lesson.
  14. Yes from what I understand the big one by itself is the pulse generator and the other are for charging running lights and such.
  15. This unit I sent a link to has the six wires coming into one side and eight wires going in the other side just like the big bear, just don't know what they go to, but your right it may be an AC CDI. The older BigBears were AC.
  16. You could pull up the wiring diagram for the bike that it fits and see which wires goes where and compare it to the wiring of the Big Bear and make changes to accommodate, the only thing you won't know is if the components are the same. I haven't seen a schematic on any of the CDI units.
  17. If you got one of the cheap ones, there was one that had the same plugs, could possibly have the correct board and components that you need, because it was for a 2000 yamaha, and maybe adapt it for the big bear, since you are possibly going to have buy components and a board anyway. Just a thought. https://www.amazon.com/California-1998-2001-Hampshire-1997-2001-Road-Passion/dp/B07L834QQC/ref=pd_ci_mcx_mh_mcx_views_0?pd_rd_w=YYbZq&content-id=amzn1.sym.1bcf206d-941a-4dd9-9560-bdaa3c824953&pf_rd_p=1bcf206d-941a-4dd9-9560-bdaa3c824953&pf_rd_r=GCBDZZDCZAQBHAH43TWZ&pd_rd_wg=VduKT&pd_rd_r=b0ddf16f-0f07-4e7d-b608-76c69654a554&pd_rd_i=B07L834QQC
  18. I just replaced my oil filter housing on the Big Bear , probably the most difficult oil filter replacement iv done in a while, 3 tiny Allen head screws 2 are easy to get to with a Allen socket on an extension the other one is too close to the frame to get that to it, maybe if you had 1/4 inch Allen sockets, I didn't, so you have to use long Allen wrench and then you can't turn it because the end of the wrench hits the foot rest, poor design. My Suzukis have me spoiled a lot easier to work on , filter just spins on like a car.
  19. Thats your rotor and pull start parts, what shape is the stator in .
  20. It should have the CC s stamped on the cylinder of the engine.
  21. Good you found it, and the stray washer also.
  22. I use Amazon for general maintenance things.
  23. I also use Motorsport.com and go back and forth between the two, whoever has OEM parts the cheapest. I buy a lot of aftermarket from Amazon, because its easy to send back if it doesn't work, plus they have excellent customer service. I don't use eBay except for used OEM thats not available, and then sparingly, because of the hassle to return if it dosent work out.
  24. Its always interesting to hear what kind of special tools people make, then you sit back and say what a good idea, why didn't I think of that.
  25. I want a Big Bear because it was manual shift and geared lower than others, seems to have more pulling power, its not as fast as others, but I really wanted one to do work, haul cars, boats, and tasks around the yard, plus go in the woods.
