I rechecked compression. Throttle wide open, fully charged battery, 6 revolutions of motor, gauge went to 140-150. It will run for awhile, then lose power. Anything I can check without pulling the motor? Thanks Bruce

Hi Guys, Im looking for tech advice on a little quad. First of all I dont have alot of expierence with quads but I love to learn new stuff about small motors. I told the guy I would take a look at it. It hasnt been run in two years. He also said while his son was running it a bolt came out of the engine.(I dont know what that bolt does) I think he ran it low on oil. Here are the symtoms. I rebuilt and installed carb. checked compression. 180psi. Started it and adjusted carb. Then as it warmed up I started to lose power. Then it would not turn over.I hope I explained it right? Any ideas, Anyone. Thanks a bunch. Bruce I looked up what the bolt is called. Its the oil gallery plug.

It turned out to be a bad spark advance I bought from a guy on E-bay that came from a "running machine". Thanks for the help. Bruce

Its got spark, fuel, and 125psi comppression test. I should have told the history. Spark advance mechanisum blew apart. The hole on the cam was egged out. I changed the cam, spark advance, and the plate with the block on it. I think its a timing problem. Im ready to give up. Bruce

Im trying to figure out the timing on my Honda CDI ignition. Do quads have the same set-up? Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks again.

I tried to pull the valve cover off, but the frame is in the way. Put it back on, now I dont have any comppression. Do I have to remove the motor to work on this thing. Found out the lever on the cover is a comp. release. I must have it on wrong if I have 0 compression. Bruce

Dont know if this is the right place for these questions. I have a 1984 Honda three wheeler with some problems. Was riding and heard a backfire. Engine quit. I looked at the pulse generator, and found the advance mechanism blew apart. I replaced it but could not get it to fire. Checked compression and had 55psi. Could my piston have a hole in it?
