Whats the best way to go? Factory or aftermarket? Complete mc or should I rebuild it? If factory I will get it from Bikebandit. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk -
Help me CK!! 2003 Honda 400ex No rear brake.

I completly flushed the rear brake and added new dot4. Bled the brake to get rid of the old fluid and no bubbles present. I got some pedal back but it goes away rather quickly. For a few minutes I could lock the rear tires then it gets mushy. Rebled and no better. So new mc. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk -

Help me CK!! 2003 Honda 400ex No rear brake.
marioweldinginc replied to marioweldinginc's topic in Honda ATV Forum
Im not an ebay fan so the rebuild or new is the way im gunna go. Is there a factory rebuild kit or any aftermarket is ok. Tomorrow I am going to try and bleed the rear and add some new dot4. Thank you! -
Not looking to spark any controversy or any arguments. I was thinking about this all day dont ask why. Ive heard of guys complain about EFI in the new atvs and how carbs keep it simple. wouldnt want their efi module to go out 80 miles deep in the woods. - My 400ex has a carb Now what about when a front axle actuator gets jammed or the electronics for it crap out. Now that 2 foot mud bog you had to travel through was a piece of cake in 4 wheel drive is now going to kick your as*. - my 400ex is 2 wheel drive. I wouldnt attempt it in the first place. Coolant leak in the woods or a broken hose? - my 400ex is air cooled. Melted and broke that CVT belt because you sucked up water into the CVT case? - My 400ex has a clutch. whining that your 500 dollar instrument cluster isnt covered under warranty cuz you broke it. - My 400ex has a neutral light. Got too deep and stuck in mud so out comes the winch. They make a 1500lb capacity winch for my 400ex too. plus it weighs only 8 lbs Your atv is so heavy it needs power steering and wooopsy it breaks deep in the woods. My 400ex has conventional steering. They also make a steering damper and vibration dampening handlebars for it if it gets too rough. You rolled your 900lb atv and cant get it over? my 400ex is only 375lbs your starter crapped out? no pull start? my 400ex doesnt have a pull start either but I can push start mine. Ive seen alot of people say they like to rough it in the woods. How is driving an ATV that is the equivalant of a Cadillac roughing it? Air Ride??? Really? you need an air suspension?? Ill stick with my trusty 03 400EX. Does it break? Yup, but it never left me stranded. Is it crude and optionless - big 10-4 but I dont care. Its simple and trail fast. add a cooler rack for storage and an atv winch and you can go almost anywhere a 4x4 can go.

Thats your opinion and we are in Amerika no offense taken Your correct in that its usually just rich brats but sometimes you hit on a good youtube goon ride and I cant stop laughing Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk

While going on a neighborhood run,I lost my rear brake. Well not lost as in missed placed but my brake pedal went instantly to the lever stop. When I am pushing the atv by hand I can stop the quad with the rear brake but above 15 mph its like i am not using any brake. Rechecked the pads at half way. I have about little more than half way between full and empty marks on the brake resevoir of fluid. Should I bleed or did I just blow out my master cylinder? Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk

The other hose that comes from the top ofthe motor that goes into the airbox takes motor fumes and blowby and reburns them. There should be a check valve but not 100% sure As CK said a rejet is a must. No room for error on an air cooled. 400ex come from the factory lean so any additional air flow needs added fuel. Without it pinging or burnt valves can occur. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk

I grant you forgivness I havent seen a z ring up close and personal but i do see em on atv store ads online. Its probably a new o ring design that drives up cost but has no real world benefit. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk -

Best kind of 520 drive chain? O ring or not?
marioweldinginc replied to cheriah's topic in General ATV Discussion
The test i saw was on a yfz450r and honda 450 and the outcome was consistent on both quads. The quads where ran on a dyno I would assume when driving through mud and dusty areas it will get into the non o ring chain and cause alot of friction but I dont have any test results to back that up. That said the maintanace on a non o ring chain is probably ten fold compared to an o ring. I personally would never run a non o ring on an atv. Is there any difference between an O, X, or Z ring?? marioweldinginc replied to cheriah's topic in General ATV Discussion
I read a similar test and the outcome was the same. The non o ring initially lets more power to the rear wheels till after its good and hot then HP starts to drop. Will you notice that hp drop in the woods just goon riding? probably not but for racing every hp, tq, lbs and Cd can mean the difference between 1st and 2nd. -
