  1. we hear the claims of tires and whats good for trail riding, mud, moto x, sand, etc. I want to know what tire is good for trails covered in leaves those suckers are slicker than mud I think. I would hit the throttle and then the fish tailing would start it was fun until you trying to stop and you slide while headed for a tree.
  2. I hope you get it fixed soon! Good to hear it's the actuator and not the diff. I got lucky with my prairie I guess you could say my frame broke where the front A-arm mounts so I was looking for a frame and ended up getting an 03 prairie not running for 300.00 so that took care of my diff trouble, frame & left me with extra parts that I sold for 200.00 a used diff sells for more than what I paid for the donor quad and 200 was cheap for the extra parts I sold and the buyer had them sold for 400
  3. I'm not sure on the king quad. My kawa does not. Can you post a pic.
  4. I had this to happen on my 02 prairie 650 in stayed in 4wd and the gages showed 2wd. I pulled the actuator and then added power to it and my actuator was turning but there was a small block on the actuator that was worn so I thought that was the problem the block of metal swivels on a pin it was what contacted the collier to slide it back & forth to engage or disengage 2wd & 4wd. Mine turned out to be the front diff. Now I wll say this my actuator did not get hot. I would pull it out and turn the switch on on your quad and flip it 2wd & 4wd and see if your actuator is working if you have to unplug the wires to remove it just remember to plug them back in once you remove the actuator. Or if you have a 12 volt battery charger you can use it to test the actuator.
  5. Welcome. now that the carb is clean I have shared this before there is a product called ethanol shield wal-mart sells it. Sta-bil also makes a gas treatment for the ethanol. Ethanol is a big trouble maker for our quads & any thing like lawn mowers, chain saw, weed eaters etc. In just 1 season I had a fuel line fail on my weed eater the shop said it was from the ethanol thats added to gas. Our local motorcycle shop stated the same thing. I guess it effects the compelet fuel system but on my weed eater it caused the lines to harden and crack. Some station sell gas without ethanol we have 2 but it's 3.90 gal. and only mid grade 90 octaine is sold without ethanol here in west georgia. My ethanol shield was 2.00 & treats 10gallons.
  6. Welcome to the QC. This has been the best quad fourm I have found with a great group of friendly people. I myself grew up on 2 wheelers and I got my first quad around 2yrs. ago and love it. I just traded a small quad for a bike that has turned into a project. So upon getting the bike I went searching for a fourm dealing with semi vintage Honda's and I can't find 1 that comes close to the QC. So I just share with my fellow QC friends whats even going on with the bike and they have not banned me from the site yet. I have a loop hole if they do I'll put training wheels on it then it will have 4 wheels.LOL
  7. I traded Jenns Eton 90 that she was to big for NADA was around 400.00 so if I use that as price paid and not what I gave for the quad which was 800.00 2yrs. ago. I may in the end have close to 1,000 in the bike and thats around the NADA on it. Now If my daughter likes it and rides it once the bike is done it might be worth the money I will be putting into it a little at a time but for reselling I might go in the hole. That would include a new set of rings but I don't know what it will cost to get the cylinder redone for stock size rings or bore it and go with a new piston & rings. A BBR big bore kit is 300.00 so that would put me over budget. I had priced what it needed and was at 3 to 350.00 before the timing chain.
  8. Well the trade I made my daughters eton 90 for the Honda xr100 has bitten me in the Bum pretty good. I worked today welding a crack in the exhuast & wed. I adjusted the valves the bike seem to be running good I put the pipe back on less than an hour ago and took it for a test ride and ended up pushing it home. Now I need a timing chain and I'm pretty sure rings should be on the list. Now I am pondering if it's worth the money to fix. I shoud have put the Eton up for sell to see what I could have got for.
  9. Just saying a pray for all you QC members living where the storm is hitting that you guys will be ok!
  10. I worked on the bike too! But it was a few shorter test rides for it. If it was a taller setting bike for my size & height the test ride would be longer. I love those second gear wheelies my wife can't know about them just the fix & ride part. I think today I'm going to try different air pressure in the tires and go for a test ride! lol
  11. It sounded like I was shooting a gun out the exhuast when I let off the throttle & popping thru the carbs. I thought I was going to be working on the carbs all day & then sync them so they work like they should. Well I thought I would richen them up a little first to see if that would work & there it was a missing vacum cap off of the intake where you hook up a sync tool easy fix for me and then about an hour test ride. The bad part is there may have been some foul play!
  12. I would do a search for reviews on each brand barrnett & hinson are used by most pro riders for racing and are worth the money if your racing. Most products that are used in racing is built to with stand more punishment & give better performance. For wiseco & ebc I would try and find reviews on the net and see what customers have to say. If a 89 or 99 dollar kit will work for what you need I don't see spending 200.00 dollars. If a product improves the performance it's going to cost more but that dosn't mean it will last longer than a product that cost less just do some research. And this is a great site for info out of all the members I'm sure someone has used the brands you listed.
  13. I just did a search for kebc reset for kawasaki prairie and all kinds of info sites came up. Just give it a try & see what you can find
  14. I have the 02 650 prairie the K-ebc is on the right side engine cover. The light could mean the cvt belt needs service. A few question is your quad shifting from 2wd to 4wd ok & 4wd back to 2wd, do you have squealing on take off or when climbing hills & last when going down a hill if you blip the throttle you should feel the kebc working. Their is away to reset it I just don't remember the web site I found it on I will try and find it and post it on here. I think it should be the same as my 650 as far as the reset.
  15. Ox now that I put the new carb on and got it running right the front wheel will come off the ground in 1st,2nd & 3rd now. Thats good for a bike that will be 30 years old I didn't expect it to have the power it has being a 100. I would say to get this bike in very good condition it's going to take around 300.00 to 350.00 bucks. Thats for the missing parts that I can get skid plate, chain adjusters, brake & throttle cable, tires & side covers last is (a repaint frame & tank I think I got that part covered.lol)
  16. Some of you may have read I traded my daughters E-Ton 90 quad for a 83 Honda xr100. I should have done more homework some parts are hard to find. I bought a new Mikuni carb now it runs good & the master link came apart on the chain. I made a parts list but it looks like it is going to grow. I was asked what I would take for my Prairie & I said 2,500 thinking the guy would walk away he said he well get back with me on it this week I should have said 3,000 then I would feel good if he were to buy it.
  17. Is the clutch almost out all the way in 1st before it engages as with the other gears. Like Ox said it may just need an adjustment. Have you felt it not engaging over time or was it all at once?
  18. The one I bought had the helment mount and head strap some flat & curved base mounts. I would like to get the chest harness that would give a good behind the bars view & it would not get hit by tree limbs hanging down.
  19. Handyhiker I got your message thru email but not on the qc fourm for some reason but yes I took the carb completely apart. If I'm right the pilot screw should have a spring on it and if so it is long gone and the adjustment was fully closed I opend it 1 3/4 turns but I'm sure it wont stay without a spring. I was not thinking when I started working on the carb it's 29yrs. old. Today it had sometimes where it idle high then almost die as if it was running out of gas. By the way the plug looked like it had black soot on it. I have looked on ebay for a carb They have new carbs cheap but I'm unsure of the quality.
  20. Had to go get a few parts for the bike so my daughter was checking out the new quads! We looked at the Raptor 250 & 700 then a Polaris 200 she said the 200 would be ok. Then she picked 1 without any adult input. Santa is to poor but the winner was the Polaris 850 with camo body It broke my heart when she said no to the BF750.
  21. I don't know if all Wal-Marts have the GoPro camara. Last night I walked by the camars at our WM and they have the Hero Naked for 129.00 was 199.00. I think the naked doesn't have all the attachments for mounting it but 129. is a good deal.
  22. I bought a new plug & the bike is running but still running rich I can get a new carb for less than a rebuild kit off ebay so if I can't get the carb working right i'll just replace it. Here's a few pics I put the rear fender on after the photo shoot. It was learning day!! Thanks for not disowning as a quad crazy member for posting about a bike.LOL! No kidding I checked on finding a bike fourm to see if I could get a little help & info. on the bike & for some reason people don't respond back I got 1 welcome. I think the QC is the most friendly fourm.
  23. Whats next the cover of Rolling stone.Very cool pic with nice air !
