Hey all,

First time poster here.  I have a '93 TRX300 with no spark.  Measuring 100 volts pulsing at the coil then declining down to 90, 80, 70, 60 and so on.  I assume it's the coil.  If there's voltage to the coil then everything else should be in working order, right?

Thanks for your help,

Deer Getter

I just fixed my 1993 Honda 300fw four trax.    Replaced the  i c m  ECM or what ever it is called.  Computer module.   Unit rides in a little harness right in front of the steering column.   Remove front cowling and replace  Very easy to do.   Was getting no spark.   Replace the module and bingo.  Cranked right up.

Sweet, appreciate the insight.  I have a coil i'm going to try today, if that doesn't work i'll move to the ECM.

I had a no spark issue and it ended up being a R/B wire that was not connected on the main harness - if you've shaken down everything else already might want to look for wiring gremlins.

Good call, there's always a chance Stuart Little got in there for a midnight snack...I'm hoping a new coil works for me, if not i'll download the service manual and move upstream to the computers and control modules.

New CDI box was the fix 4 years ago.  Got a cheapish one on Amazon and boom I had spark.  It’s ran great for these last 4 years.  Funny you asked about this as just 3 weeks ago I again had no spark.  Engine turned over and ran for a few seconds then died.  After some diagnosis I figured out I lost spark again and replaced the CDI box and that fixed it.  The bad CDI box had a crack in it with what looked like a pretty significant short on the circuit board.  I guess at this point I’ll just plan on replacing the CDI every few years.  Thanks for the oven tip.  At around $20 for a new CDI I just went for a new part.  Read into this issue this time and found that no spark on these machines is usually the CDI box and sure enough that fixed it for me.  Hope this helps others.

Bought a 88 big bear 350 4x4 took it for a run and lost spark, found it was stator so I replaced that then took it for a long run and it sat for 2 days and no spark again, this time stator tests good on ohms and voltage for source and pick up coils so I started replacing things including regulator, ignition, ignition coil and plug cap, spark plug and everything tests great including all safety switches until the orange wire for ignition coil from the cdi it only reads 3 volts so I replaced the cdi and still 3 volts, any ideas??

Fixing for a friend. Atv was at a different friends house to be fixed and he rebuilt the carb and had it running nice, then it shut off and no more. He replaced the key and the coil.

So he got busy, so I am helping, I checked the wiring from the stator to the cdi, and from the cdi to the coil. All is good. I checked resistance on the pickup coil, good, and on the source coil, open. I buy a new stator (China) and the 4 prong plug only has 3 wires in it while mine has all 4. I checked resistance in the source coil and it's in the 300's. I pulled one of the old pickup wires out of the old stator and wire it in the new one. Still no spark.

Why do the wires differ, I checked the VIN again and it's "J" for the year and I got a 1988 stator. Please help!

Hello all, I have a 2006 Polaris Sawtooth with no spark. It has a dead battery but with a jump pack on it, it will still not Spark. Plug is good, Throttle ETC is not closed, Stator pick up coil seems to Ohm out in the correct range, Unsure how to properly check the CDI. And when ignition is on the Neutral and reverse light come on but after cranking just the neutral stays on.

      Any help would be great,

      Thanks!

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!
