Looks like you were riding some roads that are not winter maintained. Although the one part was short, it looked like you were riding an old railroad grade.

Winter is long gone here in the east.

You are correct. They close this mountain pass road for the winter, then groom it for the sledders. And to get to where I like to play I have to ride this road for a ways. I do get off the trail as much as I can before I get to the area I so enjoy. But it's all good, sometimes they don't get the groomer out & then the road can be real challenging with all the drifts that get blown around up there. But no railroad grade in that area ...

I did one more ride after this one & even thou there was still 8 ft of snow up on top, the lower elevation snow was gone, so my season ended back on 17 Apr. There's still lots of snow up there & it'll be mid June before I get up in that area on tires, so ............ PRAY FOR SNOW !!! .......... WOO HOO !!!

Glad you enjoyed the video MikeExplorer Guy, and THANKS for check'in it out too ... it's much appreciated !!!

Son of a gunny! At it again.  Great ride my man. Old man winter won’t let up blessing you with the white stuff.  Great video.

I need you to make a video with the soundtrack to the movie top gun! Between the pilot looking helmet and the top cam view it would work out great.   😂

Question: Summer time what do you do swap out the tracks for tires ? Or do you keep them all year round?

Keep em coming @Gunny !

Ride safe.

YEAH BUDDY !!!  :twitsy:  .... and I have one more tracking video to upload yet ... but my tracking days are over for this season. Matter of fact, I took them off yesterday & I'm in the middle of giving the Beast some TLC & doing a few mods. So it'll be a few weeks until I'm "Back In The Saddle" again.

I'm not sure Youtube would let me use that music ... they have been real buttheads about the tunes I use ... the Bast%$'s !!!

Yup, come spring time when I can't access the snow, which we still have a ton of on top, I switch to tires. Then come fall, when the snow starts to fly, I switch back to tracks. At those two times of the year is when I do all my maintenance, change oils, etc.

I tried the tracks out one spring on dirt roads, in the rocks, & mud ... not that fun to me & they beat the crap out of because they don't have any give like tires. So when the tracks are on, it's Snow Only riding ....  :jiggy:

Glad you enjoyed the video Frank Guy, and THANKS for watch'in it too !!!  :notworthy:

It's a great riding area Mark G Guy ... and tracks are a blast. These Backcountry tracks may not be the best tracks to ride on ice with since they have 2 inch tall paddles, but hey, sleds do it correct !?!? There are some 4 season tracks out there that would work better on ice & still get you around great in the snow. Heck, I have a set of those out in the shed ...

Glad you enjoyed the video Mark G & THANKS for watch'in it too !!!  :notworthy:

I took this video back in 2007. Recently the trail (old railroad grade) I was riding was converted into a walking trail (obviously no more ATV riding on it) 👎 I dug up this old video and put it together since it shows the entire section and what it used to look like. The quality of the video is lacking, but this was from 18 years ago. Image stabilization didn't exist back then so I wore the camera on my helmet. (mounted to the quad was useless with all the shaking) so there is some annoying frames of me looking around. I noted any historical items from the railroad in the video. There is a section where the railroad grade is wiped out due to erosion so I had to jump off it and ride an abandoned road for a section to get around it.

Pulled my '86 Moto4 out of shed where it sat for 20 years. I knew it smoked. checked it over a little put in gas and it fired right up!!
Drove about 100 yards, ran about half throttle wouldn't idle.  Put on somenew parts, jug/piston and rings, carb and valve seals.
'went together ok, tuned it over by hand about 6 revs whick went well. Hit the starter it fired for about 6 revs and quit. tried it again fired once and then th sound of something slipping like maybe chain slipping over spoket.
Took cover off to watch cam sproket, hit starter again, heard same noise and the cam sproket was not turning but jumping a bit. Chain was still tight. You will probably tell me I need to split the lower case but hoping there mightbe something else.
I don't fully understand the chain tightener, the plunger only moves about 1/4 inch, should it move much more than that when off the motor and compressing it by hand?
      Thanks for any thoughts.

So my latest wheeler is a 04 Yamaha Bruin 350. It had all the wires cut from the stator and a few others and no wiring harnesses. The previous owner had them all twisted together and the bike neutral light would come on it would start (hard to start) but then would idle fine. It would die when you gave it gas so I soldered all the wires together and went on inspecting assuming it was a carb issue. Later after the carb was cleaned and adjusted I got this (see video). The bike would want to die anytime you gave it gas and there would be this horrible knocking sound but only when you gave it gas. I was worried it was the rod bearing and electrical still messed up somehow.
Upon further inspection of the wires coming from the stator there was a W/R wired to R and a R wired to W/R. I switched them so they matched per the service manual (W/R to W/R and R to R) and the bike started right up, idled and revved out fine and the knocking noise disappeared. This was the problem the whole time. It was just really hard to tell bc the oem wires coming from the stator were so brown and dirty I could barely make out which was which.
Where the hell did that knocking noise go? and what was causing it?? Just racking my brain trying to figure out what it was so I know for next time but I can't make sense of it... Really thought it was the rod bearing but it didn't make the noise at idle so I was questioning it...Luckily I kept searching!!

Just a quick test video while I'm learning to use my gopro (really, $250 discount I couldn't pass it up).
This is from my side drive to the top of the property.
      The Dog loves the runs.
No snowflakes were injured in the production of this video.
