plastic paint?

i want to paint my plastics but i dont know how it will hold up to the flex of the plastic. if anyone has input on this issue let me know

Use Krylon paint, it's the best. it will still chip tho. use about 10 coats and you might be "ok" for a bit.

You're going to need a paint that embeds itself into the plastic. Those are specialty paints, and won't come cheap as they need to be flexible. Might want to call a couple of auto body shops, they paint plastic.

I'm pretty sure you can get plastic paint at Home Depot for a descent price. My buddy just used some army green he had laying around on his ATC its been holding up nicely and if it does scratch or chip all you gotta do is keep a extra can handy This is his spray painted ATC

I just painted my wifes 400EX and it only cost me about 40 bucks .You need a good prep paint like a primer but NOT , one brand is bulldog. Then about 3 coats of plastic paint and your good. New here but I am trying to get pics to size. Also prep is important clean then wet sand about 400 grit.

I work in autobody shop and when painting plastic bumper they put in the paint what is call flex agent it helps when you put the bumper back on the car and to help when it hot outside with the plastic expand and contract but if your painting plastic here some things to keep in mind just how rigid are the parts if there is no damage to them and the parts are color impregnate which means if it was cracked the color is same on inside as the outside like i said before no damage just wash with soap water and wet sand with 600 no primer will be need just sealer if you repair the parts like plastic weld our bodyfiller that is for plastic parts you will need primer now keep in mind the paint im talking about is use in autocollision shop you can buy them but their not cheap and if you dont have a gun well you can rack up a nice bill if your only going to use one time but you can get the samething from spray can use same step i talked about before good luck

Here is a pic of my 2006 YFZ 450 I used Krylon Fusion Spray Paint, its about $6 a can, i used 3 to do my gas tank cover and front plastics. It holds up nicely, its been 6 months and 5 weekends to the dunes and they still look good with only a couple chips from hard riding, but all you have to do is mask off where the chips are and give it a little spray and you would never know. Its a cheap way to change the color of the plastics. Before i sprayed i cleaned the plastics real well, sanded with 400 grit paper and then ceaned them with rubbing alcohol. I'll see if i can get these pictures to post it might take a couple tries.

Looks good that is about what I did with my Suzuki LT250R. I used the yellow and it came out pretty good I think. We are going to try and do my son's Blaster next I believe. It will be black. I am going to show him your pics.

I put about 3 coats on them , The First coat i went real light to get the feel for it, when using this plastic paint its better to do lighter coats, if you put it on real heavy it is more likely to chip, so the more lighter coats the better but on about my 3rd coat everything was covered and looked good, i painted over yellow plastics so you can see it goes on nicely.

I have heard that that the krylon dont like gas causes it to come right off and so do decal sticker.

Ya gas is not good for the plastics, around my gas tank cover it is starting to chip but i just take it off and give it a quick spray and its good to go.

I do paint and body work also airbrushing and when you go to paint plastics you not only have to prep your surface good you have to add a flex agent into your paint or you will have chipping later down the road

I just pressure washed everything and got some Krylon Fusion camo paint. Done OK for my purposes.

I have been having problems painting plastic panels for years. Some of the suggestions were:sand back with 400 / 600 grit to get rough surface, then wipe down with degreaser, then with industrial thinners, use a plastic primer, mix a flexing agent into the paint, use two pack epoxy paint. guess what; the paint still came off.

Polaris and Honda only import "go fast"red into Australia. When you are out prospecting / gold detecting you want to keep a fairly low profile. My latest quad (500 Sportsman twin seat) I just took the panels into an automotive repair shop;underneath black and outside camo. Still chips but I can just hit it with black or kharki spray paint and it doesn't look out of place.
