Which tires?

Recommended Posts

I need to replace the front tires on my '86 Quadsport 230. What kind should I get, Radials or bias ply. I will be doing mostly turf riding in my hay field with 2-3 trips a year to trails up north with mixed terrain. The rear tires are Dick Cepek's that have a tread that looks like a combo of tractor tire and a turf tire. My riding style is not extreme, but can be mildly aggresive. Thanks for your input in advance, Rob.

I put a set of ITP Mudlight XTR radials on my quad and I'm totally satisfied. I mainly use my quad for utility purposes. ( Plow snow, pull a utility trailer, and drag large tree branches to the fire pile.) For general use and dirt trails they are overkill but Ive never gotten stuck in our old houses muddy as* trail. I dunno how effecient they would be for steer tires on a 2WD machine.

if you just have a leak from your tire, most likely cause is small hole or dirt and debris around the bead. mix up a bowl of water and some dish soap and try and find where it is. buy a plug kit if its a hole (you'll want one in your quad anyway) and if it's the bead, take the tire off and let the air out and break the bead seal and clean it. if you put a tube in, it will probablly twist and move and tear the valve stem...

I have yet to try and find a leak, as you suggest. I do have a plug kit and soap mixture in a squirt bottle, as I am in construction and always finding nails! But the tires are showing signs of weather checking and don't appear to have must pliability left. I didn't think about the tube twisting though, very good point!

I`d stay away from tubes !

Just aquired this Honda 4514. I had heard of them and seen them but had never really looked at one. Amazing machine from the 90s.
It has a 14 HP inline 2 cylinder engine. A cute little fan like the old school cars had and a little radiator. It has a timing belt on the back of the engine running the cam and a water pump. Just like a miniature car engine with  electronic clutches to turn blades on and off. Pretty hight tech for the 90s not a small thing and built like a tank weighs in at 600 pds hydrostatic trans. I have found out that almost anything you have to do to it the engine has to come out starter timing belt water pump. Very expensive parts i think most got junked for that reason, i did find out they were built by John Deere except for the honda engine.
Does anyone here have any expierience with these.

I'm repairing a 96 Timberwolf 2x4. Many years ago a dog chewed the wires that go from stator to the rectifier/regulator, and I've had to use the pull start ever since. Ive since lost the plug for the stator and on the wiring harness side. I'm ordering a new stator that will also come with the female plug that I need to fix it on the wiring harness side, but I have no clue in what position to put those 3 white wires(ones I'm holding with electrical tape on them) back into the new plug. Since they're all the same color, does it matter? Any info on this or pictures anyone has of their own will be very much appreciated.
