  1. Halfway there ! Coming back together! Thank god for beer and country music!
  2. Flying pieces for sure!! Thank god I had the old head to practice on! Valve seals done. It was not that bad, I made a jig to press the valve down and changes them out. The inside of the valve chambers were in great shape I attached a pic. I feel batter knowing the seals are done. It would be a shame to have a bad seal after doing this. New head and cleaned up cylinder is ready to go in. Maybe later tonight. I posted a pic of the old cam as well. Super discolored and def scorched.
  3. I think you have to go through all of the wiring with a tester as well as make sure all wires, plugs, grounds are properly reconnected. Especially because it’s a rebuild a wire could have gotten hit someplace. Second if the bike runs take the battery off and run the bike and test for voltage on the terminal wires. Lastly I would reinstall the old rectifier if you still have it and try that. Look for fuses etc. Aside from that you will have to look into the engine to verify that the stator is working correctly and all of the components were installed properly. Get the bike back and try those few things and see what happens.
  4. I hear ya. I just took a look it seems pretty simple. I ordered a spring compressor form amazon just now. Be here tomorrow and get it done. Thanks again pal for all the help.
  5. Awesome replies thanks for the help @davefrombc and @Ajmboy I think I’m going to stay with the orignal piston only bc the compression was great and no smoking or oil blow by. Also your recommendations. What’s your thoughts on the valve seals on the replacement head ? Put in the new seals or not? I have them but honestly I have never done them before. I’m not sure how this head performed on the last engine.
  6. While the bike is running take the battery terminals off of the battery and test for voltage with a tester on the terminal wires. See if you get DC voltage and if so what is the voltage?
  7. Thanks @davefrombc for getting back to me. The cylinder looks good and piston is ok. Usual wear nothing out of the ordinary. I was just thinking why not throw a new stock piston in since it’s opened up. As for the head goes I heard a small knock when the revs came up. After removing the head I noticed the rocker arms and the journals were beat up pretty bad plus that waving pattern so I assuming that’s where the knock was coming from. The cam looks discolored from heat. The lobes have scorch marks. I decided to pull the cylinder only to check the piston and the main bearings/connecting rod which all looks good. No metal shavings of any kind in the oil. The crank and main bering feel good with no play. So do I put it back together with the orignal piston? The head I got for it although used is in great shape. The gasket set that i have also have valve seals. What’s your take on that since the heads out? Change them ?
  8. So my question is now....that I have the head off and looking at the top of the poston I decisded to take the cylinder off and inspect the crank and piston. It looks great but I’m wondering if I should put a new piston and rings in?? I have it apart and the new head/valve assembly are here. Just not sure what to do. @Ajmboy @davefrombc What do you think?
  9. So take a look at this rocker arm. The waves are unreal. Also look at the cam seats (journals). Never seen anything like the waves on rockers like this. Any idea as to why ? @Ajmboy
  10. Great to hear. Keep me posted with some pics I’m curious to see how it works out and it would be useful for future refrence. Good luck. 👍
  11. Hey hay hay so I’ve recieved the new/used head and to my surprise it’s in very very good condition with no scoring whatsoever. The person that had the head threw in a bunch of additional parts, bolts, cam sensors etc even a rear rack!!!!!! Great vendor tg! Going to tear into this thing tomorrow and god willing have it ready to fire 🔥 on Sunday. It’s been a little while since I tore into an engine like this and I’m looking forward to it. Quick question... the new gaskets, in the past (long time ago) I’ve always used a schilack on each side of the gasket right before I set it in place, good bad? Any recommendations on this anyone ?
  12. Here is something to look at I found. Maybe a help. I’m still researching and hope to find something soon for you.
  13. Well if your able to tear into that bike then posting some pics here should be a walk on the park. I’m curious to see how this goes. I will look into that bike in the meantime and see if I can find anything that might help. Good luck
  14. Glad to hear you found the issue. Good info to know going forward. Nice work !!
  15. Wow ok. I snapped mine on my Honda flush. I drilled the center out very carefully and used an easy out to spin it out. Also I sprayed it with penetrating oil 24 hours ahead of that. The trick I used to start my drilling was a small punch tool to indent the center of the stud and a very good drill bit going slow as to not break the bit. Easy outs are a great device for this. But room for drilling may be tight there.
  16. Is the broken stud sticking out of the head at all of flush ?
  17. Sorry to hear that didn’t help. You may need to replace the ECM controller on the bike. Sometimes they just go. Have you checked for spark ? There are a ton of videos on you tube to go through regarding codes and even replacing the ECM. Take your time and don’t get frustrated. Go through everything. Re think your steps while plowing did something hit the bike or a wire get hit or when the plow was installed maybe a wire got caught up in the intstallation? Are the controls ok any water get inside the kill switch or mode button, ignition? Spray them with with WD-40. Definitely check for spark as well. If you are getting spark then it’s clearlry a fuel delivery problem.
  18. It is amazing how fast they rust, i drilled out a few bolts holding my plastics on while working on my recent project and while doing so it got too hot and melted the plastic 😢 and the hole was about 3/4 of an inch since it was a large pan head type bolt that held the plastic to the metal bracket. I had to use a large washer to rebolt the plastics up due to that screw up. But def go with the stainless if you can.
