  1. I have a question that goes out to the creators of QC. Have you ever thought of creating an app ? Just curious if so or no ? Pros cons ?
  2. Just wrapped up my newest rebuild project. Honda 300 fourtrax 4x4. Bike runs like a champ. Beat the crap out of it to see how it held up in the snow and weather. This was a “rescue bike” sitting in a junk yard not running and some beat up plastics. After a stator coil replacement and a little work this is what it looks like. Before and after. Looking for the next project!
  3. Awesome links brother. Already spoke to the Long Island locations. Thanks. ✊🏻
  4. Well who doesn’t love a good mystery? I picked up a bike a few months ago that was not running. Owner said one day it works the other day nothing. He was frustrated and could not figure it out. The price was right and I was looking for a problem child to keep me busy. After about a week of going through the coils and electrical components of this thing which tested fine, I eventually pulled the entire wire harness out and hung it up from the garage ceiling and went through it with a fine tooth comb. I found where the harness meets the front of the frame (the neck) where the steering is connected was a worn out spot on a wire within the harness that was rubbing against the frame for a long time. And the inner conductor of a wire was exposed and rubbing against the frame grounding the harness intermittently. I re insulated the wire and the bike has been perfect. Just one of those weird things that the previous owner could not find and I got lucky finding it. Anyway it’s going to show it’s ugly little face in time just keep at it and keep us posted. If anything comes to mind I will let you know and I’m sure someone on the site here will give you some info that had a similar problem or point you in a good direction. Good luck.
  5. I feel your pain but process of elimination is the key here. I would swap them and see what happens. Run the sh** out of it and see if it comes back. Any chance this happens on damp or rainy days ?
  6. So I’m looking to make 2018 an exploratory year for riding locations. We have a place up in the Catskills to ride and we love it. However we are looking to load up the bikes and gear and ride some new spots. Does anyone have some locations that are open to riders, trails etc that they can recommend. Whether it’s up north or on long island. We would love to hear from you! Any info would be appreciated Thanks. ✊🏻
  7. I keep going back to that regulator. What type of tests did you perform if I may ask.
  8. Have you changed the regulator ? Also be careful putting a big battery like that. You can blow the stator coil. I agree with @olbooker and maybe a loose or poor connection. I would start going over every connection and don’t assume just because it’s tight it’s good. Make sure that there is no corrosion inside the connection.
  9. The three screws (Phillips) are the ones holding that coil in place. Nothing else. You may need an impact driver to listen them up or good size long screw driver that fits them screw heads perfectly. That should’ve been the only times holding that coil in place.
  10. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F132327854429 here is a second one

  12. Have you checked your charging system? Sounds like you are loosing voltage someplace esp since you say when you use the winch. My friend was experiencing the same problem and finally found out his charging coil was week and not supplying the proper voltage to support the bike, winch etc.
  13. That’s great. Strange but great news. Enjoy.
  14. Well honestly there is not much more then that. If the bike is getting spark which you said you are sure of, compression is good and the fuel is in the bowl and the pin is not stuck. The only thing I can think of is the path that sends fuel up and into the carb is clogged either at that point where the needle is or further inside and needs to be cleared. It sounds repetitive and can be frustrating. Did you check the manifold where the carb bolts up to make sure that’s clear ? Keep at it. Good luck.
  15. Should not matter cold or hot. If it’s getting fuel and spark it will run regardless.
  16. Yes actually I would take the bowl off the bottom of the carb and blow through the fuel line. You should hear air coming out of the bottom of the carb. While your blowing into the fuel line raise the float up with your fingers and the air should stop. If you don’t get air when you blow into the line then the float pin is stuck in the up position.
  17. It’s clearly a fuel delivery issue. It may have gotten inside a small jet or one of the orafaces and may not be in plain sight. Its inside that little sucker someplace. Process of elimination you will find it. Patience and persistence. Keep in mind the intake for the carb. Make sure nothing got into there! Good luck.
  18. Merry Christmas Dave and to all QC members. Let’s make 2018 even better, more bikes, more riding, more trails, mud, troubleshooting, I could go on forever ! Best wishes to everyone !!
  19. It could be possible that you sent more junk into the new carb if you changed the gas tank petcock valve after the new carb was installed? If not then I would take a look at the carburetor hub where it enters the engine. Maybe something inside there? I would take a look at the new carb first and make sure no clogs are there from residual junk in the line and go from there.
  20. Wow some great replies. I keep just about all of the same things. And extra eye wash! The only item I truly love is instead of the jumper cables is the small jumper pack. Mine is about the size of a cell phone and has a flash light and two USB ports as well. Other then that great replies.

  22. Hello everyone, back from a crazy few months of riding, hunting and fishing! So I’ve added a storage bag to one of my bikes and loaded it up pretty good before we went out into the woods/trails etc. My son questioned me and said what do we need all that junk for? I told him you never know maybe a flat tire water etc. Needless to say that junk came in handy. So my question to everyone that hits the trails is what do you have or recommend to maybe take with you before you go? And what would be the one most important thing that’s a must have? And also any recommendations on a storage bag that’s not so costly and performs the best? I like my bag but not very good .
  23. Soak the sh** out of them with penetrating oil. And let them sit. They will come loose
  24. Can you post a pic of the bolts ?
