  1. I don't think you are aware of how it works. Oil does not flow back down through the banjo bolts and into the oil line back to the crank case. You should try what was recommended since I personally have done it. But thats up to you!
  2. HuntStand is one of my preferred apps. I use it obviously for hunting but as well as marking my trails as i go. Definitely a good app.
  3. If you don't do a drone there are various gps tracking apps that will show you what And where you rode.
  4. Very nice progress. Keep up the posts, this is a good project for the next guy to learn from. Nice work @pablo Blake
  5. Thanks @MarkinAR i tried to explain this earlier in the post about the oil line. @Grant Fellowes what you should try to do is the following. Make sure the engine has oil, then pull the oil filter off, dump it out so it's completely empty. Put the empty filter back on and start the engine and let it run for a few seconds. Remove the filter and see if its full. If not thats a good indicator that the pump is not working. After this you should start the engine one more time quickly without the filter on and you should see oil pumping where the filter goes. Again if no oil then the pump is not working. If it is the oil pump then the right side engine cover has to come off along with clutches etc to change it out. Its located down low toward the front of the engine. Whats most likely happening is the nylon gear that drives the pump has separated from the shaft. The gear is spinning but the shaft is not.
  6. Thanks @Arizona i work in the big city and and live not to far away. I have a place upstate in the mountains we go often as well as going to other atv trail riding places.
  7. Thanks @George Henry! To be honest most of us on the roof have lived here our entire lives and we all noticed how clear the air is. I am assuming that it's because the nation is basically shut down and no smog filling the air. The visibility yesterday was amazing.
  8. First thing i would do are make some trail markers. As you make your way through the trails mark along the way. If you find a nice wet spot make it a mud pit and mark up a makeshift map as you go along the way. Some of the places i ride including my place have the mud trail and an alternate dry trail. And mark it and make a map as you go. @mikeexplorer flys a drone over alot of tye old railways and logging trails etc to get a real bird's eye view of the area.
  9. Today the blue angels and the thunderbirds flew over NYC as well as many other parts of the state. I shot up to the roof today to snap a few pics and videos. I go to the air show every year so seeing fighter jets is not new to me but seeing them over the big city is pretty cool. I attached pics and videos. Hopefully you can see the videos as well. Anyone else get to see or take pics? IMG_4479.MOV
  10. Nice work brother! Get that puppy all back together and break it in nice and easy. Ride safe. @MarkinAR good stuff my friend! Well done.
  11. Agreed with @MarkinAR on all things to check. Im sure the spark plug is fine, new and gapped etc. Not what I was getting at so pull the plug and test for spark while your cranking! Reason why: All though your solenoid may be bad it would not prevent the engine from starting by jumping the solenoid. So if you have NO spark then like i said earlier,,,the problem may be something causing the solenoid not to work as well as KILLING the spark. Get it now? For instance if the kill switch contacts inside the switch broke it will not allow the atv to start. This is a common problem, including instances where the insides of the controls being soaking wet. Wire harnesses short out from the outer insulation wearing away From rubbing against the frame etc and eventually short out against the frame. So you should be wiggling the harness and pressing the start button to see if there is a short or a break. There is also a fuse next to some of the solenoids under a rubber cap. There is a process of elimination here that you should follow and the problem will surface. Feel free to order a new solenoid but it may not be the issue and days wasted.
  12. Ok thats fine but at least the starter is working. That small plug on the relay, one wore should have 12v to it. If you have that then the solenoid is probably bad. Easy enough part to get. Double check your kill switch is also working properly and not causing all this. I would also pull the spark plug out and test for spark while your cranking the engine. If you have no spark and no start button then the problem could be causing them both and not a bad relay.
  13. Ok so no need to trace that starter wire then. Plus now that You know the starter turns you can crank it a little longer and see if it starts now
  14. Ok i marked up the pic to hopefully help you out. The red marking is the wire that should go to the starter. The two blue dots are the lugs that you should jump together to see if the starter cranks. Jump them first for a second. See if the engine cranks. Don't hold the jumper on for too long. The engine should crank up when they are jumped. Make sure the atv is in neutral.
  15. The solenoids are all similar in kind. Take some pics and post them so we can help you out.
  16. Hey @WIJBIRD, when you took everything apart did you remove the chain tensioner ?
  17. The solenoid is where you have to start. You should have two large red wires on the solenoid (pic attached). Jump the two nuts together on the solenoid. One wire comes from the battery and the other goes to the starter. Follow those wires and they will lead you to the starter. If you jump them two together the starter should spin. If not then its a starter problem. The pic you posted is the ignition coil. The pic I attached is the solenoid showing the wires from the battery and the arrow goes to the starter motor. The two nuts shown on solenoid are the ones that you should jump. You may get a spark when you jump them its ok but should be only done for a second or two.
  18. I would pull the lower banjo bolt off as well to see what’s going on. As far as the year it’s important so see if you can find the vin # and run it. Oil flow is pumped up, the external oil line and returned via gravity down through the timing chain and oil ports in the head.
  19. Follow the red wire coming off of the solenoid. That will lead you right to the starter. But check the battery first. I dead cell will have enough power to show dash lights but not enough to crank.
  20. If you jump the two large wires on the solenoid and that stater did not crank then there is an issue with the starter most likely. By jumping the two wires your eliminating the solenoid. A few things to check/test: Wiring, maybe the battery is stone cold dead or a bad cell inside the battery is causing this (Very common problem). Jump the atv with another power source to test that. Check the wire from ground terminal on the battery to the frame Is good. Remove it and clean and re install if in doubt. Check the wires (bigger ones) from the solenoid to the starter and make sure they are good (clean if need be). Take a tester and see if your getting 12v at the starter when you press the start button. If so then the starter may be bad or the brushes in the starter could be bad. Let us know what you find.
  21. How its done is take a screwdriver and jump the two lugs together on the solenoid. The engine should crank. Make sure its in neutral. When i say lugs i mean the two big wires on the stater solenoid.
