I called myself buying a good one made by Dewalt used it twice and it quit working, cost more than i had ever paid for one, you just never know. Meanwhile my cheapies are still going.

I generally get mine at the Chevron station, but i have noticed recenty the Exxon also has it but havent really got any from there. Glad to here yours is cheap the stuff i buy is 1.00 gallon more than regular ethanol gas.

I have used zip ties for really bad ones, then i found the plastic welder and it does a little less Frankenstein looking repair.

Every station that i see that carrys non ethanol says on pump this is not a Chevron, Shell, or Exxon product depending on your which station you go to, dont know where its coming from but i have been getting it for years and never had a problem.

I think Battery Tender is the highest rated one i dont have one, been meaning to pick one up but my cheap Amazon and Temu ones just keep working.

They do make an air filter oil spray might be a little gentler than regular oil.

Thats very possible but these things do get kind of honery with age, i always put the harder stuff off as a last resort, but would be good to check that and make sure things are moving properly. Good luck, keep us informed!

No dumb questions here, we are here to help, i usually oil the prefilter lightly, the foam that goes over the filter, the oil helps trap the dust and provided better filtration. If yours does not have a prefilter i usually dont oil paper filters directly it breaks down the filter element.

Very good! I would run the fresh oil for a bit just to get everything lubed up properly then change it again, wouldnt push it to hard, water and oil are hard on the internal engine componets.

My first question would be is this an OEM or aftermarket carb. This procedure if for OEM carb, may work for aftermarket not sure. Most addjustments are done by ear you know when its running good and idling right, the settings are starting points, if not running good on recommended settings adjust accordingly. First step would be to make sure the carb is clean, very clean, not mostly clean. Pilot Screw Adjustment for the Recon 250 ('97 and up) This may also be suitable information for the same year 250SX quad. Note: -The pilot screw is factory pre-set. Adjustment is not necessary unless the carburetor is overhauled or new pilot screws are installed. -The engine must be warm for accurate adjustment. Ten minutes of stop-and-go riding is sufficient. -Use a tachometer with gradations of 50 rpm or smaller that will accurately indicate 50 rpm change. 1. Turn the pilot screw clockwise until it seats lightly, then back it out to the specification given. CAUTION: Damage to the pilot screw seat will occur if the pilot screw is tightened against the seat. TOOL: Pilot screw wrench 07908-4220201 INITIAL OPENING: '97 (except California type): 2 7/8 turns out '97 CA type: 2 3/4 turns out '98 - 2001: 2 5/8 turns out After 2001: 2 turns out 2. Warm the engine up to operating temp. 3. Stop the engine and connect a tachometer according to the tach. manufacturer's instructions. 4. Start the engine and adjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw. IDLE SPEED: 1,400 +/- 100 rpm 5. Turn the pilot screw in or out slowly to obtain the highest engine speed. 6. Readjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw 7. Turn the pilot screw in gradually until the engine speed drops 100 rpm. 8. Turn the pilot screw counterclockwise the number of specified turns. FINAL OPENING: '97 (except CA type) 3/4 turn out '97 CA type/'98-2001: 7/8 turn out After 2001: 1/2 turn out 9. Readjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw. The throttle stop screw is on the right side of the carb. right behind the mounting stud where the carb. attaches to the intake rubber. The pilot screw is on the front center underneath the side close to the engine cylinder. The above info. was taken from Honda's '97-'04 Recon service manual, and I hope this helps.

Yes you can just hook your jump starter box to the battery and crank it up. You can use a trickle charger on it ,leave it over night, if the battery is good will charge up. I have so much trouble withr these small batterys not lasting very long i have just been leaving the trickle charger on it when not in use. I usually use aa trickle charger that puts our 1.5 or 2 amp.

I use Rockymontainatvmc.com, Motosport.com, and have used Partzilla a time or 2 for OEM parts. I use Amazon for aftermarket parts, mainly for the ease of returns if the parts dont work. The 3 sites i listed also sell aftermarket alternatives if you dont want to pay the OEM prices. I like Rock Auto also, order a lot from there, no interaction, no friendly emails, but they always do what they say they are going to do, never had a problem with any orders. Sometimes that happens from sitting, things seem to dry out, i would try rocking it back and forth to try and free it up, you may also try changing the oil the new oil going in should lubricate things.Of course you said you have it runnings. That should have lubricated everything, but new oil might help.

It does appear that most of those reasons would describe battery conditions in a garbage truck. I do remember once putting a AA in my pocket it shorted out to either keys or change and my pocket starter heating up, got it out of there very quickly. Button batterys would even be worse although not as much amperage.

I also have the Sun Joe, works very well, i also have a battery powered one that does a good job for light cleaning also Sun Joe.

Good mud riding here, its been raining all week. Dont do a lot of that since i got older, just more work cleaning when i get home.

Interesting battery discussion, i would have never thought small battery would cause a fire , but i guess its possible, i have many battery powered tools, saws, drills, impact wrenches, and i take special care when charging them also, i never charge them directly after use, the battery is usually hot, so i let it cool for a few hrs before charging, i think what really concerns me is leaving battery maintainers on equipment i use rarely, never had a problem, but it is concerning keeping them plugged in all the time. Intersting enough i have several of those going all the time and the only one i ever had to go bad was a Dewalt, and i paid a lot for it just to get a good one. Goes to show you, never know, and the chinese ones still going good. Battery boxes also concern me, im not talking about the cell phone size ones, i have a few that i use rarely because they are annoying, never have power when you need it, have to keep pressing that little button, im talking about the big ones that take a small battery and amp it up. I have had more of these go bad and internally short, no fire just sparks but most just die. I am extremly careful with those.
