  1. I have noticed lately that the ATV tires i generally buy have upped in price quite a bit. The Kenda EX that i generally get are sold out and not available at this time, the EVO which is usually my second choice has increased 50.00 on a set of 4. The HTR Kendas best tire is now 150.00 per tire. Even the Sun F have increased but not so much as the others.

  2. Interesting valves should have stopped the piston before it hit the plug did it do anything weird before it stopped running. I would probably pull the cover and inspect the timing chain first, maybe see if it will budge with a wrench on the cranknut, dont go crazy with it just move it back and fourth gently.
  3. A little more information: I have to admit it, from a marketing standpoint alone, calling so many machines the LT230 wasn’t the best move on Suzuki’s behalf. There were some years when they offered a whopping 6-machine variant on the line at once with the letter designations at the end being the only way to identify one from the next. There’s good news though- the letters tell the story. First the LT230 portion tells us right away that it uses Suzuki’s overhead cam 2-valve 229 cc (“230”) 4-stroke single-cylinder engine. Next the vehicle name tells us about the transmission. Suzuki used the designation “Quadsport” to identify machines boasting a manual clutch transmission (an S letter designation) and “Quadrunner” to describe those machines with automatic clutches. When an E appeared at the end of the vehicle code, that meant the machine came equipped with electric starting (the pure S version was kick start). Lastly the G series meant shaft final drive (as opposed to chain).
  4. Great reasearch Mech. I have run into this also in the past, parts on bikes that did not match service manuals, never did figure out why, i just chalked it up as factory glitches. The age of these units it still possible they were changed out with different parts.
  5. Any of the methods work very well, sand and polish works good but it will need to be kept inside because it will oxidize again if you dont keep it polished. I have found the best way with little maintenance is to go through the cleaning and polishing steps and then clear coat it. I have tried painting and i think it is a good option if you use good automotive quality paint but rattle can paint doesnt seem to hold up. Like i said i have tried it but i prefer the sanding and polishing method. It seems more natural.
  6. If you are referring to the ignition switch, since it did not come with the correct plug and the aftermarket wires are rarely the right color i would confirm that you have it wired correctly before proceding . You still might not be getting power to the CDI but have it correct for other things.
  7. Quadsport is generally considered a powerhouse focusing on power and speed, Quadrunner is aimed more at versatility and utility usage a workhose. Good luck on your 230 great little machines.
  8. Yeah! That will do it, not sure i want to be sitting on top of that engine when that kicks in.
  9. I know that forced air injection does wear out engines faster, but may be an interesting project to see if it really adds that much more power. Is there a kit for that or are you just going to adapt or make parts from other applications.
  10. I was wondered the same thing, i think the theary behind it is you put enough lubrication and force it will go in, and looking at the rubber on the valve stems provided it does look a little different than a conventional valve stem maybe softer rubber and smaller so it will go in easier. I have never used one so im just speculating.
  11. They are made by Colby got it on Amazon, they have normal size ones and short ones, i got the short ones.
  12. Does anyone have a recommendation of a really Heavy Duty ATV cover. I have bought several and they do keep the water off somewhat, but they are very thin and do not contour with the shape very well and water pools up in the rack louvers. I think i may be looking for a heavy canvas one, if anyone has a recommendation it would be greatly appreciated.
  13. I would try a clutch adjustment centrifical clutch is probably worn a little.
  14. Mikuni cabs are rathar expensive i saw one on ebay 349.00 for a rusted corroded ugly carb, thats just crazy, i would keep looking on ebay if you can get one close to 100 and rebuild it thats what i generally do. I would do what you did make an extension for the hitch if you bolt it tight i dont really understand why it drags the ground . Been a long time since i have seen a timberwolfe so i dont remember how ridgid the towing hitch is. I do know some of those hitches are rathar low to the ground i have also mounted a 1 1/4 reciever hitch to ATVs to get clearance, a real trailer hitch would not go on a ball once mounted so i had to extend it not permanant because i wanted to remove it later.
  15. There was another kit to do this that uses conventional valve stems, it comes with a tube a rod that you screw the valve stem into and a hook to extract the valve stem so its not rolling around in your tire. Use the hook to extract the old valve stem, line up the tube with the hole, screw valve stem to the rod and push it through the tube, when it goes in the hole pull back until it pops in place. I havent used this one sounded like a lot of messing around, but may work fine and would be more economical if you had very many to do.
  16. No problem at all. Depending on what size winch you get, larger uses more battery power, but its not on all the time so battery gets charged back up after you use it. I would probably go for a small one 2500 or 3500, Timberwolfe is not that heavy.
  17. CDI is probably not the issue, i would check for correct resistance at the main coil and also pickup coil, which is attached to the stator. Also check to make sure you have a good ground at the main coil and CDI . You can also check to see if the pickup coil is putting out voltage, i usually do it with an anologue meter with a needle seems to be more sensitive to small voltage spikes, you can see the needle move , you have to look close or you will miss it, very quick.
  18. Have you ever been on the trail and your tire valve goes bad. No way to break down the wheel and replace it. A lot of you probably know about this already i had heard of it but never used one. Just punch out the old one insert and tighten down the nut So far it has worked very well.
  19. Welcome to the forum, always nice to hear about interesting projects! Good luck and we are here to help if needed.
  20. They are a must have if you have acreage, at least for me anyway, im getting older and dont like to walk so much anymore, would rathar ride.
  21. Thanks for the info , i generally use Kenda Bear Paw, but the SunF are getting very popular, with a great aggressive tread design.
  22. Thanks for the update! Good work! Glad it s running and driving. Always glad to hear a project getting back on the road.
  23. You might try manualslib.com i have good luck finding manuals there.
  24. Good call, the Red ones always run better. Worked on both also very rarely never major problems so i also never paid attention to the difference between the models.
  25. You guys know a lot about Hondas, i have an older one 87 great machine and am looking to get a newer Honda something newer early to mid 2000s, what is the difference between the Rancher and the Foreman and why would i pick one over the other.
