When i head out to RAC again ill go to tractor supply or walmart there. Island prices are getting too much. What i was saying is it seems as though people keep posting on other forums that anything over 10 a quart is outragious. The posts are recent so its not old prices. A dollar or so up or down is not great savings You guys are saying thats its not that much less. Maybe its all old timers remembering that gas used to cost 50¢ a gallon or young kids with no concept of money. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk

Does anyone know if they sell atv oil in the 5 gallon pails. My oil distributor doesnt sell any 4 stroke oil. He can get super expensive aerospace oil but cant get thumper oil. What gives! Buying oil online would be worth it if i could get it in a pail not quarts Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk

Where to learn ATV repair???
marioweldinginc replied to kilgore42027's topic in General ATV Discussion
At this point I would grab some small engines. Most people give away rusted out lawnmowers or leaf blowers (4stroke or 2 smoke) because it costs too much to change the motor into a new frame and grab a shop manual. Do a complete tear down change some parts if needed and rebuild it. If it starts and runs you know 75 percent more than those sitting in a classroom who paid $$$ -
I needed to start it now it runs fine O:-) that was my tribute to the vague posts you get. I have the real problem posted in the Kawasaki forum Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk

Driving slow with it produces no backfire. The air cleaner is clean and tight connections to and from air box is tight. Spark plugs are ok little brownish in color. The machine was purchased used. -
My father has a Kawasaki 700 4x4 that backfires when you let off the throttle when driving faster than about 30mph. Its quite loud. My father uses it for stump pulling and haulling felled trees and thats it. Doesnt really go faster than walking speed. The quad is not near me and I am only relaying what my brother is telling me (he cant drive it anymore it drives him nuts). Also the 2wd/4wd light is flashing. Where should I tell him to look? he is in the Catskills in NY at my parents place. No close by dealers, no internet, no cellphone. Oh and the town below was completely flooded out by Hurricane Irene so no local motorcycle shops are open yet. Where should I have him start. He has the basics in mechanics tools and is knowledgable in mechanics but small engines is not his forte'.

Update: I went to Modells last week and picked up a set of weight lifters gloves. They had the finger tips cut off but very comfy. Riding with them seemed strange as the palms were very insulated (I guess for comfort on weight bar?) and steering felt really disconnected like I was wearing boxing gloves. I never felt like I was fully holding onto the hand grips no matter how hard I tightened my hands. Went back to the stealer and Fox rep never picked up my Polarpaw gloves. The parts guy gave me a pair of $40 Icon gloves. I will never look at another pair of Fox gloves again. I could hang on a wall with these and very comfy all around.

I warm my quad up at idle for about 5 min then blast around my block (bout 1/4 mile) then let it idle for a few min then back in truck till I go riding at RAC again. usually about 3 weeks in between RAC riding. I do the block blasts every 5-8 days when i make an "adjustment: (wink wink)
