  1. But i think what could go wrong already would. I mean first ride out on the atv you would know that something was wrong with it. On cars frame damage and accidents are easy to cover up. On atvs everything is either out in the open or easy access. As far as cv joints and kebc and all the like, I would think that its easy to tell from noise or you would feel it through vibration. 2. I would say as long as the frame is straight and he did the maintenance on it, its a good deal. If you were to take a look at it, Im sure you would know if it was cared for. I paid $1500 for my '03 400EX in April with the mods listed in my gallery. I dont know how many hours it has on it.
  3. I actually like an automobile with miles on it preferable over 100k because most of wear parts have been replaced at this point. I have a 99 s10 Blazer 4x4 that I bought in 2009 with only 32K on it. It was used for winter driving and thats it. I knew the guy and this was true. I bought it thinking it was a great deal but it turned into a nightmare. There is not a day that doesnt go by that there isnt something wrong. The underside is rusted out. Transmission slips, hard to start, hardware usually has to chiseled off. Wiring and hoses are brittle. Electrical problems up the as*. I have a 99 F450 7.3L with 204K on it that runs like a champ. Obviously the suspension parts are now new as is all maintainance parts. The miles are mostly highway traveling all over NY. I also have a 99 Dodge Ram Cargo Van 2500 which has 159K on it. Runs mint but has a lil rust problem. Its my ATV tow vehicle and also is relatively problem free. Whether this is from sitting or its a Chevy problem I dont know. I wont buy another Chevy again. I do know that higher mileage cars seem to have less problems. Is this true for ATVs?
  4. On his last ride he said the steering was very heavy so im assuming it was stuck in 4 wheel drive Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  5. Any one know if the 05-09 400EX Shop manual the same as the 99-02 shop manual plus the reverse gear? My 99-02 shop manual was in PDF format and now is corrupt. I cant open it anymore. The ATV in question is a '03 400EX Thank You Anyone also know where I could source a shop manual for a 2005 Kiwi Prairie 700 4x4 and an 86 Yamaha Moto4 200 Shaft Reverse? The Yamaha is in desperate need of maintainance but I have no book.
  6. What is that valve for? For pressure checks? If you want to go the cheap route remove the line and get the valve tig welded shut
  7. OK so your saying its stuck in low range and its not firing at the spark plug?
  8. 1- 2003 Honda 400EX 2- Dodge 2500 Cargo Van. Requires one person to load and unload with folding ramps. 3- No and No 4- No 5- $300 6- No
  9. Actually find out what is recommended for an 85. For some reason i thought it was a 2005 Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  10. I dont know if its true anymore but i remember in the early nineties it was easier to remove the air pump cats egr etc and tune it to pass emmisions on a gt mustang. I dont think manufacturers used to care for the state of tune of their automobile as long as the end product was clean emmisions. But now with mpg as all the rage the car has to be tip top shape too. I know cars used to get 30+ mpg in the 70s and 80s but would you trust your life in them now. The sheetmetal was so thin you could poke your finger through it. They were very noisey and had low hp. Now a 30+ mpg car is fully loaded and weighs 4000 lbs plus has 200 hp with a/c Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  11. It probably wont hurt anything if its wet clutch compatable. I would stick with the 10w-40 or 20w-50. There is a reason why Honda says to use it. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  12. Oh and thanks for your help! Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  13. I found your posts. Can the block be removed and the actuator act as just a cover? Again im not near the quad so im not even sure what it looks like at this point. But from what he is describing something happened to that block or maybe just the pin came out. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  14. Got the call. My bro says some type of linkage is broken. Maybe a pin? Its where the four wheel drive actuator is. Took him a while to get it out was jammed. Could he leave it uncoupled and only use 2 wd or would that make the kawi go into limpdick mode Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  15. I honestly think it makes people feel guilty and have to do whats right for the enviroment. Even though its not doing anything. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  16. Update: Found Castrol 10w-40 4 stroke ATV oil (Non synthetic) for 4.49 a quart. It was tucked away behind all the synthetics all dusty. I bought the last case. I could care less if its not synthetic. Also different note anyone see the new Valvoline NextGen recycled oil for cars? It was a huge display with all the pros and benefits of using recycled oil. ITS TWICE THE PRICE OF REGULAR VALVOLINE!!! Literally double the price. Didnt they try this about 30 years ago and recycled oil was super cheap compared to regular oil? I remember my father used to get drums of the recycled stuff and never had a problem with his customers trucks.
  17. Continuosly Variable Transmission. It usually has a belt instead of gears
