So here she is.  Finally dug it out and about to go into tear down. The last owner was a little sticker crazy 😝 aside form the NY GIants sticker!

The bike is in perfect condition mechanically and ascetically.  No cracks in the plastics etc.  just dirty and sat for quite some tome.  Going to wash her down and take it to pieces, clean it up and fire it up!  More pics to follow.

Thanks @06kfx440  she’s all in tact! Just need to get her fired up.  I thought I would be able to work on it this week but temps are dropping.  Going to leave it be for a few days in my garage and take a few parts off for now. Can’t wash it down just yet.

I paid $300 if I remember correctly. I picked it up back in November.   Put it in a garage I rent a mile away from my house and it sat.   I wanted to wait until it got warmer out. So I picked it up yesterday and brought it to my house and it’s ready to be torn down a bit this week. But it needs a good wash down first.

So here’s some updates. After a few months I finally got around to getting this thing into my garage.  I was in the middle of giving my garage a little makeover and needed some time to make some room, clean up and throw some old sh** away.

The bike is in great shape just super dirty and in need of a what I like to equate it as a colonoscopy! Lol.

New parts are ordered and on the way. Clutch, chain, plugs, paint and a new bulb for the headlight.

I found that the carburetor has 100% been opened up and tampered with.  I can’t read the jetting so I’m assuming they are the oem stock jets 🙏🏻   However the air fuel mixture screw was set at 2-3/4 turns out. The specifications call for 1-3/4 so I guess we will have to see after it’s all back together. I’m going to set it at the spec and go from there.

The machine has an aftermarket exhaust and I think that’s it for upgrades. I’m not opening the head up to see the cams or anything else because it seems to be in time as far as I can see and compression is good with a smooth turnover and the head bolts as well as all other engine bolts and nuts don’t appear to have any wrenching marks on them so I’m guessing it’s all stock.

More to come soon!

Thanks brother I have the manual already and I think I’m good. It’s going to be a fun bike for my oldest guy he’s 15 to he can play around with it.  He as the 4x4 you obviously know so it’s going to be a bit different to say the least for him. But it’s not hanging around long. I want to sell it after he gets his kicks in.

Got the carb broken down and rebuilt. It all seemed in tact and usable.  The jets were a little scared up from what appears to be marks from using the wrong screwdrivers on them.  I filed the scuff marks down and polished as best possible. If there are any performance issues I will swap them out with direct replacements.

Engine is finally clean and ready to come off of the frame.  I ordered a bunch of parts that are in route.  Oem Kawasaki green paint for the frame and a few other goodies for the engine and sole cosmetic stuff.

Overall it looks like I will be into this thing for about $700 to $750 bucks If I don’t need anything more, that’s including the quad itself and not my labor of course.

So not bad so far but that’s all speculation for now until this thing fires up and runs.

But honestly I absolutely love tearing these older machines apart that have been sitting around and bringing them back to life!

Little by little and more to come stay tuned!

Got the rest of the bike up in the air finally! Everything is unbolted and ready to pull the engine off.  Love this new lift I picked up, gets the bike way up and easy to work on.

Going to be at a stand still now until the parts and paint come in! 😡

So it’s painted and looks amazing, color was spot on. Parts showed up and I found the oem air box that was missing!! The chain is sick, going to paint a few more things in the next day or so and it’s going to be reassembled this weekend.

I think I should have ordered a new sprocket but it’s too late now. It will be fine i guess. Don’t plan on having this thing around long anyway.

So it’s alive and well. Wrapped up the mechanical end today and she fired right up.  I made a foolish mistake while rebuilding the carb.  After it was running and idling great it would not throttle up! So I broke the carb down one more time thinking the beat up jets could be the problem.   I found that I put the pilot jet in place of the main jet and the main jet in place of the pilot jet! 🤦🏻‍♂️

The thread is the same so it’s easy to make that mistake.  Anyway I swapped it out and it runs like a champ.  Very happy with the sound and condition of this machine.   I know it’s only a 250 but it’s a little beast!!!

Should get the plastics on tomorrow or Monday and see how it runs when it’s on the ground.

After that maybe let my oldest run with it for a while or post it and move it along to the next owner!

A little update!! Got it all back together for the most part, just waiting on a few more goodies (cosmetic stuff) to show up that were on back order.  They should be here tomorrow afternoon! Going to post up a few more pics after that.

Took it for a ride and it runs like a champ. It’s fast as heck for a 250.  Very surprised about that and it handles pretty good. Cooling fan kicks in at a perfect 186 degrees and it idles perfect.

Prob going to let the oldest run with it for a minute and sell it.

Any guesses on what it’s worth ???

That’s exactly what I was figuring. I was going to list it for $1600 and try to get $1500-$1400. We will see how it goes.  I still have some flashy stuff to add on before the  week is out so I will get that done see if it looks any more attractive.

Thanks for the input.

I realized while I was putting the back together the air box was missing a big part. Shame on me for not realizing. Anyway the parts are well over $200. Found other Mojave bikes that I was going to buy to to pull parts but all missing the air box parts I needed and spending the $200.  So I decided to make some parts and order a filter.  Total $18 bucks.

The first pic is what I did the second is what it should look like.

Thoughts ????

Looks good to me, like those K&N filters for cars. Should give you more power as long as the cfm ins't too high and run too lean. Is that a generic or fit for this mojave?

Sad to say but the Mojave is on its way to NJ to its new owner.  Sold it today to a kid who saved his money to buy an atv.  I dropped the price so this  kid can have it. I’m happy where it’s going but I was sad to see it leave.

Great project!

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

Have a high heat issue on the right side panel on my 2021 cforce 400, as complained about by the wife.
My heat gun shows after 15 minute ride in ambient 91 deg temps;  690 degrees on front end of muffler close to entry pipe and 375 on exit side of muffler.  The right side plastic (where wife's leg would touch) was showing 175 degrees.  This is rediculous!.
As I understand the muffler has a built in catalytic converter which obviously kicks off high heat particularly at front end of muffler, but the heat is atrocious.
What is everyone doing about this problem?  Is there a replacement muffler to eliminate this issue?

Ok guys, I am a glutton for punishment! I picked up this 01 2wd Rancher because the plastics looked good on the marketplace. It has been sitting in the guys back yard for 10 years. The original engine blew and they swapped in an electric shift 4x4 engine. 😒The engine is locked up and was full of water. The wiring is hacked where they tried to get it to run and the rear end needs new swingarm bearings where they left it laying on the ground in the woods for 10 years. Has anyone here ever did the engine swap? First thing is to straighten out the wiring and get the engine free to see if I can get it to crank over. I have swingarm bearings ordered and a new ignition switch. So hopefully I can at least roll it around soon. 🤣
