What experiences have you had with tow behind mowers for your ATV? What brands are better than others? We are now living on a large lot that has about 3 acres of pasture to mow, but we don't have the budget for a tractor/mower.

I have a friend with a DR mower. It works outstanding. Works as good as a brush hog behind a tractor. I help him mow 22 ascres of grass and brush fields. It is pricey at $3,500 dollars, but it's worth the money.

Swisher makes a good trail finish mower and a rough cut trail mower to. My uncle has a rough cut trail mower and mows a 13 acre cow pasture with no prblems. I think the price is around $1,300.

I have not used the swisher mowers, but have seen them in action. The look to work pretty good also.

Do the decks follow the ATV directly behind or is it sitting off to the side a little? My dad has alot of land to mow and I'm wanting to try to help him out.

Thanks!

The only problem I see with using a quad to pull a mower is the lack of an open differential...a quad destroys lawns/grassed areas. Too bad the manufactures didn't design them with a bit more utility in mind and provide a locker in the rear for when you needed it.

I use my Vinson and Recon in the yard more than I use it for pleasure...they have both been work horses pulling trailers, yard carts and moving sod. As long as you make long turns the damage to the lawn is minimal...but when your lawn is maintained at 1/2" with a reel mower the damage shows up more.

They offer turf tires for ATVs and Polaris made the ATP with an open Diff. 1/2 cut height I would just concrete the yard.

This might be a little late, but maybe someone else might need what worked for me. I had 3 push mowers that i mounted on a weighted down triangle wooden frame, that cut a 6' wide path behind my Yamaha Warrior and would cut real well no matter how fast I went! I should have taken a video yet never thought about it back then. Really easy to build and didn't cost me anything! I only had a small lot so i dismantlement it years ago. My neighbors got a big kick out of how fast it cut!

Preparation of the deck is important since all loose flakes and particles should be removed. It would be nice to have the deck sandblasted but that is utopia and most times not practical. Oils and grease should be removed. When in operation the graphite will wear under the cutting edge area and if dry can resemble polished steel. To touch up that surface simply apply another coat of graphite.

This is a lot late for the earlier posters with huge lots to mow. Has anyone with fields to mow of about 2 acres or more thought of renting/ leasing the fields to a farmer for hay cropping? Here in B.C. if a farmer who makes his main income from farming rents/leases farm fields for any farm purpose the land owner is able to  claim farm rate taxes on the rented lands. It makes a considerable difference on the taxes we pay. I rented 2 1/2 acres of my 3 acre property to the neighbour farmer. He cropped the field for hay, I got $600 yearly for the land use plus saved nearly half on my property taxes.

Something worth looking into if your state or province has a similar program.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a really Heavy Duty ATV cover. I have bought several and they do keep the water off somewhat, but they are very thin and do not contour with the shape very well and water pools up in the rack louvers. I think i may be looking for a heavy canvas one, if anyone has a recommendation it would be greatly appreciated.

So we are almost a month into winter and I've been so busy working on my house that up until today, I didn't realize that we just haven;t gotten any real snow yet to warrant putting the plow on my grizzly. So that got me thinking, what are the latest plows out there and what ATV plows are the best? I've got 2 snow plows for my grizzly, a quadboss pile driver atv plow set up and a snowsport ATV plow. They are both a bit dated now and I tend to stick with the snowsport due to ease of use and I just like it so much. So if you have a plow on your ATV, please let us know what it is and post a picture with your atv/plow would be awesome. Would also like to know what you like and dislike about it.
This is back a while when I did a write up on these 2 plows.... in 2009 I got the snowsport and in 2012 I got the quadboss.

I have a Sportsman 450 HO and almost killed my self when loading it on my truck with ramps.  It rolled off the top of the ramps and tailgate and nearly landed on me.  I now want to winch the ATV in to the truck.  My question is are the front side bed tiedowns in my 2011 RAM strong enough to winch to without distorting the hooks or sides of the bed?
