I read alot of posts about owners refusing to pay $10+ for a quart of atv oil. Going to Wallys,Autozone, Pepboys, I cant find atv oil less than 10 bux. Am i looking at the wrong oil? Im talking about oil specifically made for wet clutches. I just bought mobil1 10-40 4t synthetic (didnt have semi) and itvwas 13 a quart. lucas oil semi synthetic 20-50 was $10 a quart. Honda lube is 17 a quart and 22 a quart

I buy the Retella T 15W-40 for 13 bucks a gallon around here.. And Honda GN4 goes for 6 bucks a quart, kawasaki oil is 5 a quart.. I guess oil is just expensive around there?

Does anyone know if they sell atv oil in the 5 gallon pails. My oil distributor doesnt sell any 4 stroke oil. He can get super expensive aerospace oil but cant get

thumper oil. What gives!

Buying oil online would be worth it if i could get it in a pail not quarts

the price of any kind of oil is around 10 bucks a quart if you want to get a popular brand. I was just looking at prices to change the oil in my truck and its the same with that.

When i head out to RAC again ill go to tractor supply or walmart there. Island prices are getting too much.

What i was saying is it seems as though people keep posting on other forums that anything over 10 a quart is outragious. The posts are recent so its not old prices. A dollar or so up or down is not great savings

You guys are saying thats its not that much less. Maybe its all old timers remembering that gas used to cost 50¢ a gallon or young kids with no concept of money.

Update: Found Castrol 10w-40 4 stroke ATV oil (Non synthetic) for 4.49 a quart. It was tucked away behind all the synthetics all dusty. I bought the last case. I could care less if its not synthetic.

Also different note anyone see the new Valvoline NextGen recycled oil for cars? It was a huge display with all the pros and benefits of using recycled oil. ITS TWICE THE PRICE OF REGULAR VALVOLINE!!! Literally double the price. Didnt they try this about 30 years ago and recycled oil was super cheap compared to regular oil? I remember my father used to get drums of the recycled stuff and never had a problem with his customers trucks.

I feel the damage is done too many years have gone bye and now the gov. pushes all this going green and the emissions for cars etc. With all the R&D they put into new products It falls back on the buyer. Just like I feel the emission for cars is bull. Bikes & quads without 2 strokes it's just away of getting people like you said to feel guilty and in turn they buy a new car new quad or what ever to be more enviroment friendly. If the wind blows the wrong way from the way they say it should oop's we got to rise gas prices. And their going to charge more for recycled oil whats the since in recycling the oil if it's going to cost more to produce. case and point I had a 1974 Monte Carlo with a 1970 402bb chevy motor in it. Because of the year of the car the motor was in I had to have an emission test the car past better than the newer cars being tested. So are we realy getting something better for the envioment!!!!!?

I dont know if its true anymore but i remember in the early nineties it was easier to remove the air pump cats egr etc and tune it to pass emmisions on a gt mustang. I dont think manufacturers used to care for the state of tune of their automobile as long as the end product was clean emmisions. But now with mpg as all the rage the car has to be tip top shape too. I know cars used to get 30+ mpg in the 70s and 80s but would you trust your life in them now. The sheetmetal was so thin you could poke your finger through it. They were very noisey and had low hp.

Now a 30+ mpg car is fully loaded and weighs 4000 lbs plus has 200 hp with a/c

^^^ All true :cheers2c:

And a Honda Civic of today is equivalent in size to a Honda Accord of the 80's. Cars are also coming equipped with more and more power-robbing-gas-sucking-gadgets ans STILL producing more power for the same MPG as 25 years ago. That's straight up engineering and, as Mario said, consideration for the state of tune plays a big factor.

Ive also seen people write on other forums that running 91+ in there quads is such a waste of money. I only run 93 in my near stock 400ex. I said i only ran 93 and got a slack for it. Said i love to waste money, was a rich boy etc. But the difference is about 23¢ a gallon and my atv holds 3 gallons so each ride i waste about 69c. Honda says to run 91+ only. Plus i ride 2 xs a month. Do people have a concept of money or do they want to just bash people.

some times you can cut corners but their are times you need to spend the money for the best out come. Just like people buying the off brand quads and thinking it's a better deal being new over buying a used name brand. My chainsaw runs the highest grade fuel so thats what goes in it. I run 89 in my quad and to be honest I don't know what grade Kawasaki say to run. I need to find out. So don't let people get to ya! It's your money spend it how you want too! Just like I used to race rc cars and I woud buy race ready buggies an still do upgrades even now the rc buggies I have are race level their better built handle better so the extra cost is worth it. But some of my friends don't understand it until they have to start buying parts for theirs. End the end they have more in their low cost buggies .

We run the Amsoil 0-40 in our 4 strokes. You should be able to find it for around 10 bucks

amsoil_aff.jpg

Same stuff I run and it's around $12-14. It's not too bad of a price when you only need 2 litres to do a oil change.

i know several racing teams and there mechanics ... they use rotella 15w40 in the racing quads ... the even pot the rotella in the sopnsers oil bottles and use it like they are useing the sponsers oil... it is safe for wet clutches and works great in all 4 stroke motors ... it might be a little heavy for really cold weather but it great and costs about 13 buks a gallon here in indiana

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!
