are they rock or sand ?

They are rocks now. Looks like they were made up of thousands of layers of silt, kinda looked like pancakes stacked up. I guess after a very windy storm they were uncovered, then the next year they were covered up again, never to be seen. Maybe next year they will appear again.

Those big rocks look to be made up of many layers of silt from eons ago. One year a big wind storm uncovered them. Then the next year they were gone, recovered by the sands of time. Who knows when they might reappear again. Just glad most of us got to see them. I sure wouldn't want to hit one of those during a night ride!.
