  1. I wore a titanium ring originally because it was a possibility I'd ruin another one easily by getting it squished in just tight enough places I wouldn't worry about my finger but did have to worry about a ring. 1) Yeah, my wife is not insecure about the wedding ring and with her metal allergies often keeps hers off unless we're going out. 2) Same if I end up swinging a hammer a bunch in a day 3) see above reply Î Still keeping that in the consideration list for next tattoos on the both of us. This is what I eventually ended up doing. The combination of my new brother in law getting a set for working on their farm and me getting a bit fat and having my original ring start to hurt I just moved entirely to the silicone rings so I keep them on a lot more often now. I also don't worry about losing it when I pull off my glove on a cold day.

  3. I haven't even started to put this back together yet. Got shifted to other projects like landscaping....and because walmart hasn't sent me my oil, I now have to run out! I ordered it on April 9th and still delayed... So I decided to also order it for pick up and will probably run out Friday or Saturday because I need to go to a bunch of other places...was trying to avoid going to the store unless I absolutely had to and they have the best price...with corona its a process...mask, gloves, disinfect everything, shower 15 times... Hopefully back together this weekend.

  8. Thanks, it's been a real challenge to get this dialed in. Turned out the carb was missing the needle jet from the factory. Took a bit to track that gremlin down.

  10. Welcome to Quadcrazy @Susan Makowski-DeGraw Sounds like a fuel issue to me especially if its only 10 mins in when the problem starts. Could be wrong but I would check the fuel delivery first. Since it could be in the tank or the carburetor my first thing would be to cut the fuel line and install an in line clear filter. This will allow you to see two things. 1. If the filter shows no fuel inside then you know the tank has a partial blockage. 2. You will see if the filter is getting dirty. If there is a fuel filter already in place then check/replace it. In addition to this you could be experiencing vapor lock. This happens when the vent hose or hole on the top of the has cap is blocked. It stops fuel from flowing to the carburetor. loosen up the gas cap and and see if the problem stops. If none of that works then it could be inside the carburetor and thats going to take a little work. Nothing you probably couldn't handle! Thats all fuel related items. Electrical: Regulator/rectifier could be heating up and failing. Easy enough to get and change. Its plug and play. Ignition coil could be doing the same and again its easy as the regulator/rectifier to replace. Start with the basic stuff first and go from there. It could be something silly. I always like having a fuel filter in place though so either way I would add one.

  11. Quick and dirty video of it running decent finally. Re-jetted the carb this afternoon, got rid of the sea level jetting. It ran, just now that it's warmed up it would run rich again. Was fine when it was still cold.

  12. It won't keep up. The 300ex is only like 15lbs lighter than the 400ex and 25% less displacement. You'd be better off financially to sell the 300ex and buy a 400ex. Would be cheaper than trying make the 300ex go fast. Or just rip it and have fun knowing on the straights its just not as fast.

  13. Well finally got the parts and everything re assembled except for the clutches due to a cracked basket. But turned it over and now have great compression! Side note, these things are an absolute nightmare trying to install the timing chain. Its a good struggle for sure. Thanks for the help guys!

  17. I did have to use the heat gun to soften the grommets up enough to push into the tank. Used a little dow 111 to help slide them in. Cleaned the carb and re-installed it today. Replaced a couple of the fuel lines, previous owner probably used ethanol gas in it, they were rock hard as well.
