  1. Lead acid batteries do not like to be discharged beyond half their capacity before they begin to degrade. "Deep cycle" batteries are more tolerant of draw down beyond half but even they begin to lose capacity much faster the deeper they are pulled down. Lithium batteries can be drawn down to nearly their full capacity without similar degradation, but they are not as tolerant of the cold. They can be left sitting at less than full charge without degradation but they cost a lot more than lead acid of the same capacity rating . Lead acid batteries need to be fully recharged after use or they begin to sulfate up and lose capacity rapidly. What kills most ATV / UTV batteries is letting them sit partially discharged , or unused for long periods unused. If you want long service life out of lead acid batteries , they need to be kept on a maintainer when not in use. Newer cars and recreation vehicles are pretty much all electronically controlled and their computers draw a small constant current whether in use or not so they increase the discharge rate when the vehicle is idle. There's nothing wrong with Duralast batteries. Like all lead acid batteries they must be kept fully charged on a maintainer if you want long service life from them. Leave them partially discharged or idle for months and you will be lucky to get a year or two out of one .. Keep them on a maintainer and you can expect several years use. If it uses a lead acid battery , get a maintainer for it if you want it to last, whether it is a big name brand battery or some generic brand, and whether it is in a car, truck yard maintenance machine or recreation vehicle.
  2. The winch with the lower ratio ( higher speed) will require a bigger motor pulling a lot more amperage out of the battery than the one with the higher ratio. It may have a higher line speed unloaded, but it puts a LOT more strain on the battery and charging system when loaded. There are a lot of other factors that determine which is the best winch than the gear ratio.
  3. Since you refuse to accept anything that goes against your biases, I'll let you talk to yourself.. Maybe you'll accidentally find something that finally gets you to see the reality of COVID and the vaccines. You might also learn Pfizer used technology developed in Vancouver, BC in producing their vaccine. There's a whole world of knowledge out there Randy if you'll just open your eyes and mind and you leave your conspiracy theory / vaccine denial cult.
  4. He's more like your cult Randy.. Contrary to your belief , I did read through the articles.. I suggest you do the same and learn to comprehend them .
  5. Do a lot more searching and reading Randy , and you might begin to learn risk/ benefit ratios and why the vaccines were approved . You might also begin to realize just how tiny any of the noted risks are, and how great the benefits are for all among the vaccinated as compared to the unvaccinated. You might also search on "long COVID" and how it has affected some that showed even very minor symptoms at the time of infection.
  6. My son-in-law would read that with the same comprehension I have .. I'll let you try to figure out how well we understand it.
  7. I'll let you go on with your denial and searches to justify it, and I'll continue to follow the advice of my doctor and the medical profession.
  8. As with any anti-viral or any other medication, there will always be some with adverse reactions. Any of those results listed could occur in some individuals. What really matters is the frequency of them. For any one of them the rate is so low as to be insignificant compared to the benefits of the vaccine. Here is an article with the numbers per million of those that have had adverse effects. Note that the adverse reactions rate doesn't mention the rates of mild and severe reactions , but the total rates. Those suffering more than mild reactions requiring interventions would be far smaller. https://graphics.reuters.com/HEALTH-CORONAVIRUS/VACCINE-EFFECTS/xegvbglkrpq/
  9. I am not going to argue over vaccines. It's no use when you are so convinced they are useless and can find those on the far right holding medical degrees arguing against them. I'll go by my own experience than the 90% plus of the medical profession and researchers that say they do. As I said before , the internet and its free access for the conspiracy theorists has proved as detrimental as it has proved useful for the spread of information. It's too bad so many refuse to believe the facts over the disinformation/ misinformation out there. Yes, a lot of us were lucky. I smoked heavily for years before I quit shortly before I had quad bypasses. Both of the parents of one of my chums weren't. They both died of smoking related cancers , and one of my school chums died of lung cancer at 26,, before the links between lung cancers and heart disease were well establish over the disinformation and denials of the tobacco industry at the time. I took a lot of years before the togacco industry were forced to admit the links smoking had to lung cancer, heart disease and emphysema. Despite knowing the links between smoking and cancer I smoked. It was an easy habit that was hard to break; and despite being smoke free for over 20 years, I know damn well if I was ever stupid enough to take the first one again , I'd be right back on therm.
  10. As I said , we can disagree on many things. The protests , , parades, months devoted minorities are all direct result of the discrimination and worse for far too long by the minorities. Whites don't have to have any of them for the simple reason they've always had the luxury of lack of colour discrimination all along. You only perceive tv and movies are heavy on gay and minority issues and "grooming of kids" because you're looking for it and take many things that normally would not have raised an eyebrow as somehow an attack on your values. The vaccines work, despite your prejudices against them. That is established fact whether the right wing ant-vqxxers and conspiracy theorists want to admit it or not .The misinformation and outright lies by so many have made the measures to reduce the spread of COVID far less effective than they could have been.. The vaccines did NOT give anyone cancer or cause it to reoccur if he had it before and was cancer free for 8 years.. I, unfortunately have had too many friends and family fall to cancers, my mother included, that they had been treated for and had in remission for several years. When it flared again , there was no stopping it .. A friends wife was thought to be in perfect health. Felt ill and went to the doctor. Diagnosed with cancer and dead a month later.. It was that fast ,from nothing wrong to dead in a month. The electrical foreman in the mill I worked in had a complete physical for his company insurance and was assessed as perfectly healthy. A week later sitting at coffee with other staff, he suddenly looked very surprised and collapsed on the table without uttering a sound .. He was in his mid 50's. The doctor said he was likely dead from a massive heart attack before his head hit the table. All these deaths occurred a long time before COVID appeared; but if they happened now after someone had been vaccinated the vaccine would have been blamed by those that know no better. Everyone I know and associate with have never had any adverse reaction to the shot; and those that refused it have been fortunate enough to remain healthy. I have had the full lot of vaccine and boosters, including one booster where the nurse accidentally gave me a double dose. My reaction to the entire series of shots?. Nothing more than a slightly sore shoulder the next day. That's it. My family and friends had no more than a couple of them feeling "a little off" for a couple of days .. My son-in-law is a fully vaxxed paramedic. He caught a breakthrough case of COVID. He was very sick , but didn't need hospitalization. He said he knows full well had he not have been vaccinated it would have killed him. An Asian friend caught a case of it long after he had been vaccinated. He ended up with no more than the sniffles and a bit of fever. Yes Randy , believe the deniers or the facts , but the fact is the vaccines work and I have seen some of the results in friends and medical reports.
  11. DeSantis may get things done if he gets the presidency and a majority in the Houses, but you won't like what he gets done. I don't see extremism in wanting to see people able to love who they want to or what sex they identify with. None of their personal choices or orientation affects me ,nor should it anyone else. I don't see extremism in saying everyone should have the same rights and respect, no matter what race, colour they are, or what religion they follow. Again none of that affects me. What does affect me is how others treat me, and my opinion of them depends on that and how they treat others. There are many things we disagree on. I know the vaccines and measures taken to try to protect people and limit the spread as much as possible. We can disagree and still be friends with others , and that's how it should be .
  12. I am definitely not a DeSantis fan and I agree with your assessment of him. As you said, someone can be a member of Mensa and still be a fool. I said the GOP needs to move towards the center right. I know it would hurt them some , but really , how much?. The extreme right and GOP only voters would still vote for them. They might even get some of their old centrist base back that either didn't vote or voted for a Dem because they can see how damaging to the country the extremists and some of their nut case attitudes can be. Unfortunately I see right extremism rising everywhere, not just in the US. We have more than our share here and in Europe too. It does not lead down a very good path as the 20th century showed all too horribly well.
  13. Herschel Walker and Dr. Oz didn't need tRump to help them deserve to lose. Oz is an as* to put it politely, Walker is despicable on several counts.. How can any intelligent person vote for Lauren Boebert or Marjorie Taylor Greene is also beyond me. I would like to think the only ones that would are die hard GOP that wouldn't vote for anyone except the GOP candidate , no matter how unfit they are for the job, and the far too many that don't follow the issues but have the "right" letters after their name on the ballot. The GOP needs to get rid of the extreme right nut cases and return a lot closer to the center right . The GOP of today is a very far cry from the "Party of Lincoln"
  14. I think Mech answered the power source to the fan with key off.. There are 2 power source in and out on the key switch, so likely the second circuit is the one that powers the fan in key off .. I would suspect the fan sensor is faulty since It would appear to me the second power source on the key switch is to provide constant power to that sensor to power the fan when the motor is still hot after shut down. When the motor is below fan triggering temperature it should remain off no matter which circuit is powering it . Check the output of the fan sensor with the motor cold there should be none if the fan is powered directly through it , and if there is a relay the fan sensor triggers, check that relay for it being failed on ( points fused closed) delivering power to the fan constantly.
  15. If you bought that quad used and this has been happening almost right off, it might be someone has messed up the wiring to the fan. It seems to me from your description that possibly the hot wire is going directly to the fan and the ground is switched by the relay. Fan stays off until the sensor calls for it to run at temperature but the ground is switched off by the relay. When the key is turned off the relay switches to normal off position and in doing so actually grounds the fan so it'll run.. As Mech says , there should be a wiring diagram in a service manual covering your machine in the download sectio n to help you trace down the gremlin..
  16. Just my 2 cents worth, but the picture he shows of the stuck Polaris is hilarious to anyone who has driven 4x4s / ridden ATVs in the gumbo we have in north central Bc and farther north, Those people standing around the ATV would have about 20 pounds of mud on each foot . Where they are looks more like a fine sand than mud. Since that appears to have an open differential in front ( back also?) it is at best 3 wheel drive since if one tire loses traction on front there is no more pull there . If the rear diff is also open the same goes for there. I would hazard a guess that if the machine had locking differentials front and back it would easily have handled that hole. Sorry , but that ground doesn't look like it is slippery at all; wet and soft , maybe , but not really a challenge to all wheel drive or on demand 4x4 with at least a locked or locking rear differential. As far as the belt shredding goes, I strongly suspect it is the driver or mechanic's fault far more than the clutch set manufacturer's. The posts and claims by Keys has that familiar farm smell to me.
  17. You have just proved my point. The farce is strong with tRumpers.
  18. I find it hard to understand how anyone can blindly worship one of the most corrupt individuals, never mind politician, the US has ever produced. Despite all the evidence up to and including the Jan. 6 insurrection, they refuse to believe any of it. The cult of Donald and his apologists in the House and Senate goes against everything Americans claim they stand for.
  19. You'd be amazed at how many big name American products are either made in China or are composed mainly of Chinese made parts made to American specs by a company affiliated with an American one's foreign investment. NAFTA has nothing to do with it . As far as the orange one is concerned,, that scammer has cost the US far more than you realize. Hopefully after November he will be called to task for it.
  20. Contrary to what so many conservative Americans think, the Chinese and Asians are just as capable of making quality parts as anyone, and North Americans are just as capable of making junk as the Chinese and other Asians. You want to try to bring some of the manufacturing back to the US? Bring back the tax regime of the'50's where companies and individuals were encouraged to invest and re-invest in the US rather than take their profits and run offshore to invest them while demanding more subsidies from the American taxpayers. Don't blame Asians for the tax and business decisions made at home.
  21. The basics you mentioned plus a snatch block if you have a winch, or a "comealong" if you don't.. A dedicated GPS works everywhere. They don't rely on cell service. Not really "extraction gear" but an accessory socket wired into your ATV, if it didn't come with one already, and a 12v to USB adapter and cords to connect you cell or other USB charged accessories. It's no fun being broke down within range of a cell tower and having you cell battery go flat. If you don't always leave with a full gas tank, an extra full gallon can of gas might be a good idea too.
  22. I see no reason an atv master cylinder ( and wheel cylinder(s) can't be bled the same way automotive cylinders are bled. Fill master cylinder, pump up and hold brake and crack the bleed valve. The fun part comes with some atvs when you need to remove the seat or plastics to access the rear master cylinder cylinder or bleed valve.
  23. That's what makes me suspect a loose or corroded connection. Turning on the power can make a momentary surge in power that can connect through a little corrosion, and movement can make a loose connection make contact when previous movement made it lose. I'd bet more on a loose connection or even an incomplete break in the wire where the ends are close together and a little movement makes connection. It's possible in the ignition switch too if a little corrosion in there .. Next time it doesn't want to turn over, try turning the ignition switch on and off a few times to see it that makes it work. Electrical gremlins that cause intermittents are the most evil. It's much easier finding a complete failure / disconnection.
