  1. Pictures and videos are key Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Time to rebuild. Pull the engine out and work on a bench so you don’t lose anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You should inspect the crank while your in there. Check connecting rod bearings and maybe inspect the timing chain and or tensioner. Did it seize or just lose compression? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yes. Low compression equals bad rings. Or cracked piston. But pull it off and inspect the jug liner and hash marks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Can you try to free up the piston from the jug? Because we need to figure out what happened and go from there. Try spraying pb blaster in the spark plug hole and let it soak for a bit. Then just a little turn to free it from the cylinder wall. Then check your timing. It could be binding up in the valves and not letting it turn. Or just take the jug off and let’s start inspecting parts to again, see what happened Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I’ve blown pistons and luckily was able to figure out what happened. Could be simple, could be time for more. But we will figure it all out together. We are all quadcrazy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Like I stated before. Do a google search with “02 Yamaha kodiac 400 front shocks” or whatever your looking for. It will pull up several shocks from different sites with new and used pictures. Select what you want to look at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Can you see thru the jets. The pilot has 5 and the main has one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If not. Use a thin needle and clean them out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Welcome to quad crazy. If it idles fine the pilot is partially clogged. If it runs better on choke your not getting enough fuel. What happens when you hit it at wot? Look up the factory spec for jetting. Your a/f screw should be at 1.5 to 2 turns. Your float is off and has to be adjusted. I’d go thru that carb again and make sure it’s clean. Blow air thru the carb. Check to see if your float is even working and seating properly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I’ve never had luck with aftermarket carbs. Spent more time guessing than riding. Let us know some info as you go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Are your valves okay? Yes. Go ahead and replace the chain and tensioner. Move your cam sprocket to in time. You may have to roll it back some because once the tensioner tightens it will roll your cams slightly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Well. What kind of help do you need?. Plenty of members are very knowledgeable and can help you if you need something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Won’t crank how? Does it turn by hand? Loosen the cap to the crank and put a socket on it and turn counter clockwise. Then report back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Those are new my guy. We can’t help you if you don’t know any other information. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Did ya try YouTube? How about some pics? I’ve always heated the frame and tapped them out with a bar or whatever fit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I just did a google search. I think it’s a 400. And there are plenty of option. From stock to modified. All different prices Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Try bike bandit or Motorsport.com. Once you get a part number you can cross reference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Yeah. Lol. I’m sure she won’t mind. Btw. Thanks for your help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Yeah. She drives her manual Jeep just fine. I had to show her once and she got it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. My wife has my kfx now. She loves it and regrets not getting on quicker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Yeah. Smaller lines and filter fixed it. But now it’s a ping at low idle and goes away when you rev it. It’s all new besides the dome. I don’t suspect piston slap. Give me a text frank. New phone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I love finding new things that break. Lol. The magnets on the flywheel came off. But it’s a simple fix. Gorilla glue and clamps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. It’s the same thing that happens with the filter. Runs great then dies. Ill show you guys what I’m talking about in a few minutes. It’s awesome to be back. The quads took up some time. I have something else I’m working on too that will be custom and awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Yes. When I was shooting air thru it it’s clear all the way to the carb. The carb is clear also. I took the cap off the tank just to rule that out too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. So I’ve rebuilt this quad and the only issue is fuel delivery. The filter fills up then runs out of fuel then dies. I’m thinking that vapor lock is the cause. And here’s my reasoning. The fuel lines are supposed to be 3/8 are 5/16 on there and it looks to have a huge filter on there. I did blow out all the lines and checked the petcock as well as the screens in the tank. Sonic cleaned the carb and replaced all the jets and needle. Blew out the vent lines too. Any one else have thought? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
