  1. Yes sir ,just was looking at for a cheaper alternative than atv oil or said type. Actually I worked on ford new Holland tractors for a out 18 years and before that at various lawnmower and ATV shops when I was younger. Things have gotten better but with that I remember fuel at 85 cents a gallon also. Will post later on my test. Of how the oil will hold up.
  2. Flush everything out for sure. Could be oil pump but probably fine dirt in system. If oil pump most likely to heat a knock pretty soon as newer engines will go dry quick.
  3. Just to holler out there. Came down with rocky mountain spotted fever, came from a little tick. Not anything to joke about within one year I'm messed up ,have nerve damage and probably lung and heart. And have this because of a tick ,drs say nothing they can do about it as I already have the antibodies inside the damaged is done. Just thought I'd put this out there. When you go into the woods cover up and spray deet onto yourself. You don't want this. I promise you ,they say it almost killed me.
  4. I recently went to Walmart for oil for a customers ride didn't have anything, but I did find 10/ 40 and 10/50 diesel oil heavy duty . Walmart brand and was cheaper than any oil out there .bought a gallon for my own atv will post updates on oil later on. Told customer they said they will just go to dealer to get their oil. As for me working on tractors for a living before retirement I think they are a little more demanding on oil. Just observation of 30 years of mechanic work.
  5. Welcome, lots of mechanical background from allot of knowledgeable mechanics. You dont need to go anywhere else ,it's here or can be solved. Enjoy
  6. Welcome,I haven't been able to get on here to try to help out much because came down with rocky mountain spotted fever, and they caught it late. Really messed me up but wecolme all the same, this is a place of great knowledge and gifted mechanics. Hope to see you around,.

  7. Yes sir ,tearing that motor apart if only smoking at start up would only need to be if oil consumption is way high ,doesn't hurt anything and I've seen them come in my shop that have been smoking at start up for years just keep checking oil at every start up and top off. Have fun and keep on riding.
  8. You've come to the right place and if you need any questions answered there are many good mechanics here and are ready for the job. Welcome
  9. The white stuff is normal,it's just the carb showing age. The cast aluminum is breaking down a bit, most I've seen from look like this after setting up for awhile with fuel inside.
  10. I thought it would be a switch ,had many act up just wasn't letting enough voltage go through to power up everything. Great you got it going 👍
  11. Yes usual if stator goes it's gone then if cdi it could be hot or cold with spark I would put new plug in to c if it's different at all first. I have come across some that had a faulty kill switch that did this also wouldn't hurt to CHK that next. Switches are finicky with temperature and wetness.
  12. Yes,I believe that will do the trick. BELT SWITCH BYPASS KIT Fits All Brute Force, Prairie and Twin Peaks 700 Description The Belt Switch (AKA CVT Switch, Belt Sensor, etc.) is a common failure point on your ATV that causes you to go into limp mode. Kawasaki is the only manufacturer of this switch design. Other ATV manufacturers do have a belt switch because they believe it to be unnecessary (and so do we). Install our Belt Switch Bypass Kit to ride worry free
  13. You probably are turning the engine over faster=more revolutions and have more power generation=better spark
  14. Had one in my shop a few years back I pulled it I had to unbolt it first then move forward tilted and put the top ,think that's was the way if I can remember it has a cross member there you have to maneuver around a bit . Hope this helps. If I can find a picture of it I'll try to draw it how I did it.
  15. Yes sir to do it right without worrying about it,must take fuel tank off.
  16. Check for air leaks at carb connection from engine to carb even hair line cracks there you will never get it to idle. To CHK simply get wd40 and spray just a little bit right on that area if it kills it out then you have a crack hope this helps.

Yes never thought about that I have solar , pretty much off grid and have volt meters amp meters. Heck why not bikes. Great upgrade
  18. I would try a motorcycle, atv junk yard for that part ,if you could find an aftermarket one it's gonna eat into you lunch money.
  19. Shoot your questions there are many people here that might have the knowledge of what you might have in need of.
  20. Yes sir ,and it won't take long to do and as long as you make it fun and not a have to do it your way then the kids will find there own way and will be with them for a lifetime, have fun
  21. It would probably be an undertaking. Wish I had time being retired I'm more busy than I was when I had a on the clock job.
  22. Yes sir completely agree with you on that.anyways good luck
