  1. Yes,I like to see the old bikes restored and hear them rev back to life. Atv where you can't go by truck you can with those little buggers. Like to see pictures when restoration complete.
  2. Completely understand with comparison but some aftermarket ones just has the look the feel but doesn't perform and mostly substandard, will run but not at top performance.
  3. That's what I would use that rig for
  4. From watching the video, looks like it's firing erratically on spark plug ,should be more of a blue ish color also ,could be that the spark plug has been gas fouled.looks old also by the video ,might run but not top performance.many times you can hold a plug in a vice and put a lighter to the end and if it has been fouled it will burn the gas out. I would try that to see if it would help the spark a little bit or a new plug would definitely help.
  5. Yes please don't cut it if frame is bent as such when you cut the metal will try to go back to it original form as most metal will because of memory of metal tube ,could heat with torch back and forth to release structure bend a little bit with the pull of chain block to solid structure of sorts ,yes cutting will be a whole big can of worms you don't won't.
  6. Should be as simple as tying into the rear lights,do you have a Manuel for the bike most Manuels shout have a schematic on wiring harness,or trial and error with a voltage tester, and LEDs will most certainly be less amp draw than regular bulbs. Hope this helps you out.
  7. Like to say if I'm not working on something then I'll be checking out here to see if I can help anyone, see you there.

  8. Looks good. I make most of my gaskets or use grey silicone that is made for small engines never had a problem yet. I get it in the tube that fits in caulk gun and it's fairly cheap compared to small tubes you can get at auto parts stores ect and in my opinion it works best in some cases ,when you go into an engine that was taken apart before and messed the matting surface up so much that a gasket won't seal, but you got it going good,be running in no time ..
  9. Hello name is not important but the game is,grew up in a shop, grandfather had, been working and messing around with stuff for some 50 years now. Worked as a Diesel mechanic for a while, then went to bmw, Volvo, Toyota, ect cars and trucks. After retired, as wife said I have to,I now work on small engines ect especially quads and bikes of all shapes and sizes, just am posting this to let it out that if I can help I'm here probably have done it or have seen it done before.
  10. Yes,like mech said try a battery, and could be a carb that is just too small for bike ,could try running it on half choke to see if it stops that would be a spot on indicator of running still too lean as mech stated before hope you get it running.
  11. Yes their tools are some quality just enough to get you by or you could get a better quality one at estate sales garage sales. Or ebay , Amazon, most likely about the same price or cheaper than . I have a lot of tools Wich I have acquired threw such channels as these.
  12. Would have to agree with mech. Most newer bikes have this same ole problem either low voltage from battery or battery dead .not old bikes Wich would fire up with jumpers and run all day if you didn't kill it. With all the lights and other newfangled electronic mess on bikes nowadays it's a wonder they run at all. I miss the old days. Good luck on bike.
  13. The old one should have a marking on one side or the other I've seen numbers or letters and combination of both ,Wich teels you the diameter of cup and t ,if you don't have or can't see them measure the specs of without the cups on and the cup itself that should give you the size of,and cross the specs with specs of other u joints online Hope this helps
  14. Yes safety first, but having fun is what this life is all about. Get out there and ride ,then maybe a beer if you like when you get home.or if you don't drink ice tea,ps sorry about grandson.
  15. Just have a problem of sorts on a 300 with new aftermarket carb. I have narrowed it down to the temp sensor on carburetor making it read the wrong temp , wouldn't idle until warmed up and takes awhile to crank will let you know what I find out in a few days ,have others I have to get to first.
  16. Have seen many options on ebay for such and know of a couple that had come up with such and had made there own bags .
  17. I had one just like that without the flames, ran but needed some work because previous owner ran it into barbwire fence and flipped it hard broke ole boys leg in 4 places. Fun to ride but know your machine before seeing what it can do. Nice ride ,have fun.
  18. Could have a bent cable also if was routed wrong. Just a note have seen this before on new cable installs
