Update ! Parts installed and all back together.   Reused the old neutral safety switch since it was never bad in the first place. Bike runs great.  Going to post a few more pics tomorrow of it all back together.

It’s all done. Final touches put on today. Runs great. The last owner of this bike kept it in amazing shape.  All the lights work and had added rubber boots over the plug and bulb assembly’s def not factory. Haven’t seen that before.  Everything was kept in tact and not beat up.  But anyway it’s all wrapped up.  Thanks @wanrep for the help with the pointers and pics for this bike.  It’s always easier when you see pics form someone else’s project.

I really have no reason for this bike.  The price was right, it’s a fun bike for my oldest to play with and the bike is in great condition.   Going to roll it out of the garage and see what’s what.   I really am starting to think I need a bike lift.

Got the left side tore down ,found the reverse cam broke in two pieces. Did you say you found one for 13.00 oem?  Nice looking bike in the pictures Frank. What are you asking for it?  Where do you live?

I just purchased a 1991 Bayou and the neutral light is not working. I want it for my granddaughter (and me for hunting) so it will need repair. This post has really helped me and will have to get started on this once the snow flies and after hunting is over. Thanks for the pictures and explanation!!

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

Hi my name is Greg and I just acquired a free 2000 yamaha kodiac 400 4x4 with the ultramatic transmission that does not run. I plan to get it going and use it around my property

I have a 1990 Bayou 220 that runs pretty well for it's age--needs a new muffler, but sounds tough.    Have had to start with a pull cord since I got it, and recently started troubleshooting the start button.  Finding a lot of information on this issue in the forum, but haven't been able to chase it down yet.  Got a new battery, new starter solenoid, and going to replace the starter relay this week, but not convinced that's going to do the trick, since I can't get the neutral light on when turning the key on.  I can start it by jumping the solenoid, but the 2 black wires to the relay do not activate the starter.  Bad ground or a short somewhere?  Is there a good way to just test the ground?

Bought 4 wheeler for kids. Used to run and soon as it was put in gear it died. I have put new carburater, new plug and battery. The neutral light won't come on. I replaced the solenoid, then the positive battery cable and today put new relay assembly on. Still no neutral light. Not getting any juice and I don't know why.
