05 king quad won’t start after stator replacement

Crank shaft positioning sensor ? -
It’s posable a new diaphragm may be needed but not if it’s in good shape. Double check that needle also make sure all the washers and clips are properly in place. That needle also should have some wiggle room when it’s Installed properly. That carb works on a CV “constant volocity” so you have to make sure that the airways are clear. I’ve attached a link for your use and I encourage everyone that’s viewing this post to watch. It shows exactly how a CV carb works. Thus allowing you to look at what could be blocked or wrong. But just the general knowledge is great.

So I added a new feature to my bag! I was at an army store today and found this cool little collapsible military shovel that folds up and also is a pick axe ⛏ and saw as well as a compass on the top of the handle. It folds up in this little pouch and fit right in the storage back! Never know when you need to dig a trench! Lol just sayin.

You rebuilt it, ok got ya. Well is it in decent shape ? Was the bike sitting, and most importantly when you rebuilt the carb did you inspect the rubber diaphragm for any punctures or damage and is it seated properly ? There is a tab that aligns the rubber on the carburetor. Also the airways in the carb are super important are they all clear ? It may need a good soaking. Whenever I have a difficult carb I soak it in a gunk bin that you can buy at any auto parts store. It has a basket in the tank etc take a look I attached a pic. Maybe break it down really good again and soak the heck out of it and blow out all the passages again with a compressor. It’s worth a shot then a new carb $$. And the cleaning solution is reusable for future parts so it’s worth the investment. Also double check that rubber diaphragm and that the parts holding that main needle down in the diaphragm under the spring are in place there should be a washer then a clip that clips onto the main needle and then another washer that the spring sits on top holding the needle down. If this is not correct the needle jumps up allowing fuel to flow into the carburetor unregulated causing a rev up. Hope this helps

Hey chop, I asked a guy I know who has tons of atv parts he’s in PA but ships all over the place. He will take a look and let me know. If he does I will put you two in touch. Why the need for a new one ? Beyond repair? I’m assuming you checked eBay ?

I like having a spare bike. I have a 2001 bear tracker that’s a beast. This bike is a tough son of a gun, ITP rear tires that allow it to go a lot of places and actually have hurt a few feelings when some friends said the bike would not make it through some muddy terrain as they did on thier 4x4’s. 😂 But more importantly I have a few old buddy’s that like to come up and ride with us sometimes and the spare bike is nice to have. I’m currently looking at a winch for the two bikes we have now but not sure if I’m going to put one on mine but my son is he’ll bent on having one on his.

Awesome reply. Sounds like you have some work to do!!! I use a wire wheel attached to my grinder to clean the rust off of a lot of my parts and metal work. Works great. Safety glasses is a must!! Can’t wait to see some pics.

Did you mean timing chain ? (Oil pump chain) ?Is it possbsle that you are 180 deg out on the timing if so ? Fuel and spark = a running engine. Timing could be the problem. Any backfire at all? I would retrace my steps if I were you. And keep in mind that if you set the timing wrong the valves and piston can hit causing a considerable amount of damage to the engine. Like a bent valve and a dented/cracked piston etc. -
I looked on eBay and seen a few from $65 to $125.

Ok well take a look for the vin snap a pic and we can help you find out what it is. You will find it where I said it is and clean it up with a wire brush or sandpaper if necessary. Good luck.

Your welcome pal. I hope it works out!

Today is February 11,2017. I know some of us ride all year round and a lot of us ride the warmer months. Before you know it March is here and it’s the spring thaw with it! So to all my fellow atv, and 4x4 enthusiasts that are sitting on a broken bike or a bike that needs work let’s get after it!!!!! Don’t be left behind waiting. Oil changes, repairs, upgrades let’s get out to the garage, barn, backyard or wherever you have your bike and get going. Lets see some pics, ask the questions, Don’t be shy. Let’s hear what you have planned for the upcoming months ahead. Trips, outings etc. Let’s get going now and be ready! Hope to see a good response from everyone and I also hope that you riders have a lot of riding/mudding plans in your future. Remember you only live once!!!

Hey Gary, can you locate the vin number ? It should be located in the front lower push bar on the cross brace. If you can find that number there are a few web sites that decode the vin for free and tell you the year and model of the bike. The 10th number or letter of the bikes vin# is the year of the bike when cross referenced on the vin decoder. Do you know the model ?

Ok spark is a good thing. Fuel injectors and or the fuel pump priming up is what you most likely heard when you turned the key on. I believe that bikes fuel system is electronic and has an electric fuel pump. So the problem most likely is either the fuse or power to the fuel pump system, or the fuse or power to the ECU/ECM. If not then it’s most likely the actual ECU/ECM component itself. So before buying that part you really should check all fuses, relays to make sure they are good and any wires that may have gotten damaged. Even go as far as getting a tester or test light yes a test light (old school) and check the wires going into the ECU/ECM for voltage with the key on. A test light has a much narrower tip that can reach into the metal connectors of the plug to that controller. If you have voltage going into that controller then it’s most likely that part. And I would look on eBay for a used one Maybe get lucky. But go through it all first. Pull the plug off the part to make sure all the connectors are not corroded as well. My feeling is you swap that part the bike will fire right up.

Good luck. Pay attention to the reinstall, the manufacturers are very specific about touching the surfaces of the seals with your fingers. Wear rubber gloves And handle with care or you will be pulling it out again. 👍

Ok I looked up the page and attached it for you use. 98 models are definitely left hand thread. Take a look.
-
If that does not work try to turn the impeller clockwise some models have left hand threads. That should do it also should the shaft not come out.
-
Hey jerr welcome to QC. There really is no trick to it. The cover comes off and the impeller is attached to a shaft that is a separate part. Maybe it’s a little stuck. Pull on it it should come out. Either way go to the downloads section of this site you will find the manual for that bike. The 400 Kawasaki bayou 98 model is the same engine. That’s the bike I have and I have changed it. So that manual will work as well.

Help with 110cc four wheeler
Frank Angerano replied to Turtle Harris's topic in Kids ATVs and Youth Off-Road
Does the throttle work when you press it and spring back? Did you properly install the slide back in to the top of the carb properly? What adjustments did you use on the new carburetor? Don’t rely on a manufacturer setting. And what kind of choke is it ? On the carb lever or is it a cable type that is controlled on the handle bar ? Post a few pics if you can. -

Great. Hopefully it comes soon. Obviously test it before you install. Also look for any obvious damage to the old one when you remove it just curious. Good luck can’t wait to hear how it turns out. -

Obviously the one I tested is in range so you should get between 100-150 on yours. Try each one of the wires to ground to see if you get anything. Just a shot in the dark -

Ok so I was wrong on the reading. I’ve attached a pic so you can see the plug and the test result. Possibly a broken wire on that trigger coil it’s self where it was soldered during manufacturing ? Defective maybe ? Check the plug as well, and maybe test further down the wire closer to the engine to make sure there is not a stretched/broken wire. Other then that you may have to pull the casing off and check it out.
