  1. A bit shinier than my '99 KQ 300. That's a beautiful machine right there. Wowsa.
  2. Given the number of experts on this site, you'll likely find MORE than you need here. It's truly amazing the depth of knowledge on this site. Welcome aboard.
  3. We can only hope. Talk about a literal slap in the face to every breathing dimocrat. To be forever known as cheaters - what a shameful "party."
  4. it IS a joke - and notice how relatively-quiet dimocrats are about the issue - they KNOW it's wrong but what's done is done - they also know that the other side will do nothing... and they're correct. too early for a revolution but that's all that remains - and best of luck mobilizing hundreds of thousands.
  5. Apparently, in Michigan (I forgot where) 100k Biden votes just... magically appeared today? And they were ALL votes for Biden? Not one single vote was for Trump? That's statistically impossible. Unsure the validity of this but it wouldn't surprise any rational person. Could the dimocratic party be ANY more ridonkeylous or obvious with this one? No. U.S. Suburbs: gone as we once knew them - to eventually have the lovely addition of low income housing. This bodes well for home appreciation, crime and graduation rates in (the) affected areas Gotta appreciate ANY government doing this to a community or nation. Healthcare for all: this is going to be the most interesting change of all. I give it 18 months. I'll say it again: Dimocrats hate America and love socialism. What a shameful, embarrassing lot.
  6. Heard today that the numbers in NY are tanking, which is good for everyone.
  7. Now THAT's funny. I've seen workers in my town riding side saddle - and they're some "larger than normal" boys - not two cares given The u joint on the outer axle I pulled was welded in place - 4 spots - strange. I pulled out the inner axle and it had a lotta rust dust on it - what does this tell me about the center of the transmission that connects the axles? That there's no grease in there? Stupid question but does it need grease, or is it a bigger u-joint that doesn't require it? I'd guess it would but i'm not the atv king. I think I can push back the inner cv boot enough to get to the center if needed- use something long to cram grease in it both sides....
  8. Admin - I was able to upload it Community - you ever seen such a sight?
  9. perfect shape - no reason for the left rear tire not to rotate freely not difficult to remove for a novice will try to send other picture if can decrease the size - it's even more perfect
  10. that's what I think. if they last 8-10 years, even better. and i'm looking at doing all of them - the CV boots are dried up anyway - it's only a matter of time until the others start to grind. gotta figure out a way to move the 600 pound beast 30 feet to my workshop - I guess that's what teenage boys are for thanks, spock
  11. if it were your 20 year old machine - that runs really nice - what would you do? the guy is reasonable, but I wouldn't know if I need just an axle... or also a u joint... or also something else. mechanics often find things ya really don't need - and not being a mechanic and a novice ATV rider helps very little. not trying to take up your time
  12. thanks, spock - you ever see one pop through the metal like that? how the hell would you go about moving the machine since that wheel is locked up? not finding new ones on amazon or ebay - not checked cycle shops yet - but i'd guess $150 apiece
  13. i'd seen that video before but couldn't find product online - I think amazon cancelled it - ordered some self-fusing rubber tape from china that i'm going to evaluate - worth a shot unsure if mentioned that I took KQ to atv guy - valves needed adjusting - clutch was slipping some - carb needle adjusted while there and it runs/idles the best it ever has - he said it was running too rich while there atv guy asked if i'd heard any popping noise from back end - I hadn't - 2 weeks later, I hear popping - today the back left wheel locked up - see picture will the wheel spin freely if I take off wheel and other inner parts? or is it doomed to never roll again, until axle is fixed? and can that area be welded or am I looking at a whole new back end?
  14. I don't think I could grow a full beard if I self-infused testosterone over two weeks. Meanwhile, a friend of mine had a full "man" beard at 16. Crazy. Where the heck has Frank been? He's usually a post-daily cat. Hopefully he / his family are okay and non-covid. Be paying attention to things, especially this fall when/if kids return to school - seasonal flu traditionally rears its ugly head around that time - don't be complacent... this crap can kill. Some key physical markers we're looking at are: shortness of breath, really low oxygen levels, red or bluish "spots" on toes/legs (see petechiae on internet), fever and overall appearance (the person just looks sick or ill) - if I see a person with 1 to 2 of these characteristics, depending on their social/medical history, they're going STRAIGHT to the hospital. Better safe than sorry. And keep wearing that mask every place you go. --> Could use advice on CV boot if/when you have a moment - it's under my "1999 suzuki king quad fuel pump/petcock/carb advice" post dated 19 May.
  15. rollin' on in Texas - had a few more covid cases pop up locally - one in a 6-8 month old child - but businesses have opened up to around 50-75% capacity in my neck of the woods still wearing masks and distancing
  16. anyone repair a CV boot without replacing one? mechanic told me I could clean area really good, then apply silicone to the hole - hole measures just under an inch long and is about a 1/4 wide and is on top of one of the front boots. I've seen "split" cv boots that appear to act as a shroud on top of existing boot - don't wanna junk things up but if it were clamped really tightly on top of existing boot wouldn't this be an option, however temporary? any input appreciated. gonna look around for this topic for a bit
  17. Was wondering how things had been progressing, man. Your efforts will likely last a good 20 or more years.
  18. water leak fixed, thanks to permaseal. bearings were replaced but machine sounds a bit louder from wheels when driving on street - not too worried about this at present. newest issue is the gears (i'm guessing the issues don't end on a 20 year old atv): - first gear is fine - switching to second gear there's a lull... then it finally grabs and goes - it's not a knock you out, atv rocking grab, but a slow grab and eventually a regular pull - I haven't tried it under any type of load - it's also harder now to pull up on the gear shift than before - I don't hear any grinding sounds when shifting - hopefully this is a clutch issue. I can try to adjust this. am I headed in the right direction?
  19. same issue here, frank, but a 17 year old senior dude. wish they could have a prom this summer but so many are ready to get out, start working jobs and getting on with their lives.
  20. that's crazy, considering the number of folks affected in NYC alone. stay away from folks - make it TEN feet away - wear gloves - wear a mask if have it and take it off only to eat, drink or curse the engineers - leave early if you can - strip to your skivvies in the garage - take a shower, then interact w/ family. i haven't spent this much time with my boys in a LONG time and am enjoying it - received new solenoid from RM Stator today and installing it on king quad tonight w/ oldest son - wife and I going crazy w/ two man-sized teens fighting all the time but we'll look back on it and laugh. my salary was reduced earlier this week - this is hitting people DEEP, man, but we'll pull through
  21. You lay some of the blame - and even deaths - directly on Trump? To what other institutions or people do you lay the remainder of your blame? Do you blame life-long smokers who are predisposed to contracting breathing-related diseases like COVID19? What about those with cystic fibrosis or lung cancer? No country or person can foresee a future pandemic. We both know this. If another individual were in office and the same scenario ensued, I wonder if you'd also blame this individual. Trump or any other president could fund the hell out of the CDC, NIH, drug companies and mask manufacturers, but guess what: it wouldn't matter. It takes time to assess the virulence of a disease, who it affects, the degree to which it affects certain people/populations. A government is likely not going to say, "Okay, every single person stays home for 8 weeks" at the onset of a pandemic/other disaster. It takes time to see what occurs. No pharma company can create a vaccine in two months. It takes time. No company is able to manufacture 500+ million masks overnight. It takes time. To think Trump wasn't ultimately following the advice of the CDC and top virologists is ridiculous. Trump doesn't give a rat's dropping of what others think about him. This makes him effective in my book. And that's MY book, just as you have YOUR book. In my book, I'm right - in your book, you're right. We all have roughly 80 years on this earth and are free to make decisions about what we, individually, deem right, just and true of our own accord based (largely) on our lived experiences. We have one confirmed case of COVID19 in my town in Texas. 47 year old male - he was in Washington 2 weeks prior to being diagnosed - is recovering well at a local hospital. I've yet to diagnose any cases only because my clinic has no testing kits. If I suspect COVID, I'll send them directly to one of two hospitals and let them make the final determination, as they have the testing kits (in limited supply). Avoid crowds. Wash your hands often. Hydrate. Rest. Cover your freakin' mouth when coughing. Treat your symptoms at home with OTC medications. If OTC medications don't relieve your symptoms and your symptoms worsen, see your medical practitioner. But, as Dave mentioned, you'll likely not be tested unless you meet a specific set of criteria. My wife is making me strip down prior to entering our home in the evening - I leave the skivvies on... but it is NOT a pretty sight - my clothes go straight into the washing machine - then I take a shower, eat and finish my notes from the clinic during the remainder of my evening. We now shop later in the evening to avoid the crowds. types "stay safe people" from 44 stories up. DAYUM, frank - what's wrong with you? it's obviously a fever - please get that treated.
  22. That's crazy - and I'd think a significant loss of revenue for them. Hell, start making them with OPDs, tack on $300 more and maintain sales. The same thought ran across my mind, MarkinAR re: owners. It'll be here before long - ATVs, riding mowers and go karts. --> on a side note, do you work on ATVs in LR? I'm not too far south from you. Just curious.
  23. yep - the seam at end of forceps goes all along the internal joint - I can push the box toward the rear and see the gap widening just a hair. don't see any other visible joint spaces or fluid/moisture. should be able to take air box out without touching carb. gonna hit it with a hose this weekend or next to make sure that's it - but I don't have any doubts. weird how I just wanted to check the filter and found this surprise makes me want to leave cap off end to let water flow but don't want any critters in airbox and it may affect performance so, silicone along outside joint after letting it dry for 48-72 hours? I wouldn't think it'd be an issue putting it on inside, as well re: solenoid - I agree - they're $30 but will likely last a lot longer. putting grease/permaseal on outside joints to prevent moisture won't hurt, will it? and yessir, it was water - no gas smell - no greasy residue
