  1. I have a 2007 Suzuki Eiger with camouflage finish. Over the years the finish has faded to a blue green color, its not as annoying as some that I have seen that faded to purple, but I still don't like it much. Im sure this has happened to others on the forum. Just curious what you guys do to fix this. I was thinking of mixing up some clear with a hint of yellow in it to neutralize the blue green but will have to do some testing to get it right. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Just wanted to get a little input from members that had owned these quads, your experiences and problems. Not sure about the engines, no where on the suzuki engine does it say suzuki, just wondering who makes the engine, I know yamaha engines are tough as nails , but never had an auto before and the kodiak is auto. I like the feel of the suzuki hadn't had much experience riding it yet, still working on it. The Kodiak appears a little smaller, don't own it yet, so not sure how it fits me, Im 6:3 200 pds. Thanks!
  3. Hello! First time poster here, looking for help. This will be long, but I want to give you the whole story. I'm very confused because I am a fairly experienced mechanic but must be missing something. A friend who is not mechanical brought me a 2003 Eiger 400 automatic that didn't run. A quick inspection revealed that the motor was seized. I pulled the top end and found the cylinder and piston rings were rusted together from the machine having been submerged at some point and then left to sit for several years. I put in a new piston and cylinder and checked the valve lash. Compression test today was 150 psi. Replaced the corroded vacuum petcock with a Yamaha petcock, cleaned the fuel tank out, and replaced all the fuel lines. Replaced the badly corroded carburetor with an Amazon aftermarket model (with good reviews) and it wouldn't start. Found that there was no spark so I substituted an Amazon 4-pin CDI box and found that I now have good spark. It still wouldn't start so I used a little starting fluid and it fired right up for about 3 seconds. Now, after cleaning and checking out the new carburetor, I have found that when it cranks and fires, the engine actually kicks backwards momentarily and then resumes cranking. It is acting like the spark is way advanced and it is firing before TDC. I know that it is turning backwards momentarily because I still have the recoil off and I can see the starter cup rotating and then literally stopping momentarily when it fires. I've had the flywheel off to check the magnets and the woodruff key. The flywheel does not have the exposed magnets, but the fully enclosed magnets like the replacement RMStator flywheel. The woodruff key was in perfect condition. The pickup coil resistance test was good. Since it seems like a timing issue, I pulled the cylinder head off again and double-checked the timing. It did appear that the timing marks were off by one tooth, so I corrected that and thought that I had found the problem. Unfortunately, it still does the same thing...It will crank just fine, but won’t start, and kicks backwards when it fires whether I use starting fluid or not. Since the timing is not adjustable on this machine, I’m wondering if the factory CDI circuitry incorporates any type of variable timing feature that is dependent on RPM? That is about the only thing I can think of. I've read other threads that discuss this "kickback" symptom and the usual culprits are weak battery or a too lean condition causing preignition. I've installed (and charged) a new battery and triple-checked both carburetors...the original one that I completely cleaned, and the Amazon replacement. Same response with both carbs, which leads me back to questioning the CDI. Any body else run into this? Thank in advance for your help.

  9. doesn't idle at times but sometimes when it does as soon as I touch the throttle it just shuts off, what could possibly be the problem? I thank you very much for any help, Thanks.
  10. Hello Team! Hopefully someone can help me. I've been to the Suzuki forum and its pretty dead. I should have been on this site a while ago as I own a Canam, Hondas and a RZR! Anyways issue is the ATV won't start. Friend gave it to me to try get running. They installed a Amazon carb and machine did the same thing. This machine has 1100 miles and is not beat. Appears to have led a gentle life. So the first thing I did was ask for the original carb. They do have and brought it over. But first I changed out all the old gas and put new in. Got it to start but would not idle. But could ride it around yard. Its a manual, went through all 5 gears. Runs like normal but would not idle. So I got a Shindy rebuild kit and rebuilt the original carb. Reinstalled and almost the same thing. Starter spins and it tries to catch but doesn't until it does. Then it seems to run ok. Idles high but after a while it will go down. So I take tank off and give a very good cleaning. Took off the fuel petcock. All looks good. No fuel in the vacuum line so I believe its working as it should. Cleaned carb again. Adjusted valves. Did not need. Reinstalled everything and same exact thing. Spins like a maniac for 10 or more seconds before it will start. Spark plug is black. Brand new one too. I checked the spark and did not see any. Googled how to do it and I was doing it right, tried again, now I have spark. Hmmm. Kept checking and always had it. My battle plan now is to clean the Amazon (Chy-na) carb and install that one. If it does the same exact thing I'll figure its not the carb. If it does something different this will tell me nothing as I don't trust the Amazon carbs! But now I've read that these models Eigers have issues with the fly wheel magnets coming loose. And affecting spark. Anyone know if this sounds right? Maybe if the spark is out of time it makes it harder to start but once started the running engine can overcome that? Oh yeah, compression is 130, spec is 142. Not sure I trust my Harbor frieght compression tester though. I'm bringing it to work to get the gauge calibrated. Sorry so long winded but I like to give all the details I can for the people in the know! Anything anyone can suggest I do? Thanks for your time!
  11. So i took a road trip today to look at a Suzuki Eiger! 2006 in perfect condition other then the fact it starts for 30 seconds and shuts down. Its been sitting for about a year in a shed. It has a plow and a winch included!!! Got it for a really good price and all looks good so far. Stay tuned.
  12. Where do you buy your ATV gear? I am planning to buy a swing arm guard, heavy duty bumpers, chassis armor, nerf bars and grab bars for my 2003 Suzuki EIGER 400. Any recommendations?
  13. Eiger 400 Suzuki runs fine Cook-Out joke face off the handlebars put it back on and will not start now will crank no no spark

  15. I have an 04 Eiger semi auto 4x4. Bought it used. It has good compression and spark, put a brand new OEM carb and manifold on it, new spark plug and did the Raptor 660 petcock retrofit and capped off the carb. So.....here is the question: I turn the fuel on, turn choke on and it fires right up and idles great. I wait 1-2 minutes and go to turn choke off and it stalls. I then leave the choke off and it fires right up and runs great all day and starts right up without needing choked the rest of the day. So why does it die when I turn the choke off?!!!
  16. I need help/ideas please! I have an 04 Eiger 5 speed. Runs great and pull starts. Only clicks at the solenoid when trying the electric start. Replaced connections, solenoid and starter!! Battery charged, still just clicks at solenoid!!! All lights work, I'm at a loss. Could it be the neutral relay? Anyway to test that? All fuses are good. Very frustrated.

  18. so my kids into paintballing- we setup targets and he runs through them shooting as he goes. NEXT MOVE; he gets on back of the ATV and sits backwards as I drive. He blasted his targets then we hit the woods trails. He shot the "enemies" as I drove.
  19. Went for a ride today with some new tires and my bike is pretty dirty. I don't have a high temp light, but when I turn my key to on, my fan runs even with the engine off. What can cause this?
  20. Could use some thoughts /help with this one PLEASE!!! When I depress the starter button (with the key turned on neutral lite on and oil light on) the quad does not start that is no juice gets to starter to engage it. BUT the elelectric at the consol cuts out/shuts off -lites neutral lite and oil lights go out AND the starter relay makes a funny sound and vibrates if you hold it. Then if I shut the key off and wait a minute or so and then turn the key back on the electric/juice comes back on. I am 100% sure jucie is getting to the starter relay in question the fuse is OK-does not blow out It appears it's resetting itself????? I am thinking that the starter relay --the unit next to the battery where 1 wire comes from the battery and the other goes to the starter is shot????????????????????????? I would take it to a shop but they are relativley far away and I'd have to leave the quad and then go back for it- time consuming and expensive I am sure????? SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO could I PLEASE hear from the crowd on this???? Thanks ever so much- Elder statesman- BOB

  22. Please Please any help -- I'm replaceing my right front half shaft and I dont know how to get the axle out... I got the axle apart and pulled the entire unit away from the Quad - I have a complete axle to replace it. When I tapped the axle, it pulled everything away from the quad. That's not what I wanted as the 'green egg' (that my axle slides into) came away from the differential I can't dis-attach it from my axle. I pulled the boot back and can see the bearings in the 'green egg' but cant get the axle out of the green egg-- it wants to pull the bearings out and they wont come out either. (which is good) - I dont really want to pull that out/apart and mess with those. I wanted to pull the axle out and slip mine in. How do I get that out???

I saw a kit online to make your quad an8 wheeler,has any one got experience with this idea I am thinking about putting my stock tires and rims on extensions for traction and flotation of course I would have to design and build my own, but I think this might work a couple guys on youtube did it so I know its possible, just looking for input before I go through all the trouble to fabricate the parts thanks:
