  1. Sounds like a voltage related issue. First thing I would test the battery. If the battery is bad you might be getting too much voltage and that will cause the display to blank out, turning on your lights puts a load on the system and would bring the voltage back down to normal level. Mike
  2. Not knowing the year / model I can only provide general information. Typically if you have 12 volts to your ignition the IGN fuse is good. When ignition is turned on, a relay closes to energize the circuits. Depending on model, some were known for wires in the harness rubbing through and breaking. You can download schematics for free, but need year / model
  3. Yes they are very good to deal with. I recently broke one of the straps that holds the side down on the wing and called them for replacements. He told me how to replace them. They were not expensive. I am surprised there are not many on the East coast. For us it was the best option to camp and carry two quads.
  4. If your camping where there is no electric hookup charging it up each night is a problem. If your on a ride and run out of power, charging it back up with a generator will take some time, probably a few hours.
  5. I posted a link to download the service manual above
  6. Over time I have tweeked the setup. I added the propane rack on the front which allowed room to add a battery. I built a breakout box with a small fuse block to power stuff including a 12 volt refrigerator. Since we don't use the bed extensions, it leaves one whole side to store gear inside all the time which saves on packing / unpacking.
  7. If you don't have the service manual and wiring diagrams, you can get them here for free: https://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Arctic-Cat-ATV-Repair-and-Service-Manuals/ The manual will give you all the information about what voltages are needed for spark and so forth. I owned this model machine, One thing they are known for is the harness wires rubbing on the frame. I have had several electrical problems with mine because of wire damage. Strip off the plastics and go over the wire harness carefully. You can get some of that spiral wrap to protect areas of the harness. I did this and it solved the problem. You may have to open up the harness and inspect the wires to be sure., Using a meter to ohm each wire end to end will be helpful. The schematic will give you all the wire color codes. I also do know the CDI box shouldn't "tick" so its a good bet it is bad. Mike
  8. It is now our sixth year using it and it has been good. It has held up well. It still didn't seem to catch on on the eastern side of the country. I still have yet to see another one They no longer have dealers on the East coast. So if you want one, you order it from them and for $500 they will bring it right to your door. Mike
  9. Post is over three years old, doubt he is going to reply back
  10. If you go to country cat's website and select oem parts, you can bring up part diagrams of what you need and write down the part numbers. You can then search for what you need by the part numbers. Mike
  11. Best to get the marine grade heat shrink, offers better waterproofing of the splices. You can get spiral wrap there as well which can protect the wires from damage.
  12. Go to countrycat.com and look up your machine to get the part numbers for the bumpers. They probably are not available anymore but you can use the part numbers to do a search to see if anyone is selling them used. I know there are several ebay sellers that sell used ATV parts.
  13. Its handy to have the schematic with you on paper, but its too hard to read on one sheet of paper. this will help: The website that has the schematics located here. http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Arctic-Cat-ATV-Repair-and-Service-Manuals/ The file is large and includes a whole slew of schematics, the question is how to extract out the one you need and print it? The diagrams don't print well on a regular sheet of paper due to their size so here is a procedure to get the diagram you need and make a nice print. This will be with utilities you can get for free (the best kind After downloading the large PDF of the schematics, go to this website here... Tracker Software Products :: PDF-XChange Viewer, Free PDF Reader Download pdf-xchange (its free) Open the pdf file with this program. by clicking on the selections you can get to the exact schematic you need. Once its displayed do this: File -> Export -> Export to Image Select "Current page" , Image type "JPEG", choose your folder to drop the image, give it a name like "2006 400 auto" set page zoom to 100% and resolution to 300 or 400 dpi Then click export. You will now have a JPG of the page. Next step is to go to this website... posteriza.com - Home Download the program (free) What this will do is allow you to tke this large JPG and break it up onto several pages. I use 4 for the schematics. Its pretty easy to follow and I print them without a border. Print them out and use an old fashioned "cut & tape" and you will now have a nice large printout of your schematic.
  14. Rubbed wires was a problem with the 2006-2007 models, I had a 2007 model. Wires still could be broken even if it looked like they did not rub through. Your going to have to use a multimeter and the schematic to verify the wires, I am betting you have broken wires if you have no power to the start button. Best bet is to solder them and use marine grade heat shrink tubing then where the harness has problem spots, wrap them with plastic spiral wrap for protection. I would add this wrap to any area of the harness that looks like it can rub on rough spots. I did this with my 2007 machine and never had an issue with the wires again. Mike
  15. There are two known issues with that model year machine, one is the magnets coming loose on the flywheel and wire harness problems. (wires rubbing through) You can get a service manual and the schematic for free from this website: https://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Arctic-Cat-ATV-Repair-and-Service-Manuals/ This should help you trace out the problem to figure out the electrical issue.

  17. Verify the pin is moving in and out when you toggle the actuator
  18. Codes are stored in the pod. Next to the fuse block there is a diagnostic plug. You can use a jumper on that to have the pod display the stored codes.
  19. The seat on my old quad got the point it was more duct tape then seat. The material can be found at a craft store and it wasn't hard to remove and replace it. At the time, I think it was only like $10 for enough material to do the seat.
  20. Could you contact the seller and see if he has the original part still?
  21. Agreed, sounds like a distraction
  22. If you go to countrycat.com you can look up a parts diagram of your machine to get the part number for the carb, then use that part number for a search (ebay, etc) you should be able to find a good used one online. Mike
  23. Happy New Year
  24. I have seen people do this, even replace the battery with a bigger one, but you have to keep in mind the stator only puts out so much power and if you exceed it, even with a bigger battery, you will be drawing it down as you ride and eventually, your dead in the water. Mike
