  1. Here is a list of error codes and how to display them with the diagnostic plug. Mike AC Error Codes.pdf
  2. Nice pictures!
  3. I think the 700's at that time were the H1 engine, smaller ones such as the 400 were Suzuki. I know my 2007 400 was Suzuki motor Mike
  4. I use pictures to document the maintenance on the quads. AT times it comes in handy to explain how to do something, like what I posted. Train project is coming along. Wiring and track layout is complete. I started writing the code. I am programming the routines that will be needed for the main programs such as the input debounce (eliminate chatter) Control of the track power segments (to stop and run trains) and the touch panel screens. Right now I am working on the routine to handle the remote switches on the layout. I only can work on this when I have time. Our plant did shut down for a little over a week due to the virus, but I worked several of the days to do an upgrade on two of the lines so I really didn't have many extra days off. Your going to have a blast with the drone when you get it. Look up videos on Youtube, they will be very helpful. Mike
  5. Sure I can help. First if you can find this part number 1402-027 go with them, they are the Koyo brand and are the best to use. The replacement part number 1402-809 are ok to use as well. I would avoid using the cheap Allballs brand and they do not hold up. There are no seals with this model, the bearing is a double radial single bearing. What I do is remove the knuckle and remove the bushings. The bearing has a C-clip holding it in place so that has to be removed. (usually covered in grime) First thing I do is take the new bearings and put them in the freezer. While they are chilling down. I heat up the hub with a torch. This will make it easier to remove the old ones. I do have a 12 ton press in my shed but I have used a hammer and an old socket to pound the old ones out from the back side. Hopefully the old ones are not too shot that they fall apart then it will leave the race inside and that is an issue to remove. I clean the inside of the hub with scotchbrite to make it smooth and clean. I then heat the hub up again and grab the now cold bearing. 90% of the time it will just drop right into place. I kept the race from an old bearing to use if I need to tap the bearing in place. Make sure it clears where the C-clip goes. I then douse the hub in water to cool it off quickly. Put the clip back on and its done. Mike
  6. I had to work a few days even with the shutdown, to help install upgrades on two lines. Not so bad since its quiet inside and I can concentrate on my work. Did get the drone out a few times. This video of the famous Starucca Viaduct, known as the "Bridge of Stone" build in 1847-1848 and is still in use today.
  7. I have an around the wall layout in my living room. Once I complete my programming project, I am going to transfer this to the wall layout. I also did a wall layout for my now deceased uncle in his bar. https://www.nepaview.com/the-wall-mount-counstruction.html https://www.nepaview.com/a-second-wall-mount.html Mike
  8. Ive only started my "Vacation" from work. I have been mainly hiking to different places to fly the drone since this time of year there is no leaves on the trees yet and no growth so this is a prime time to look for abandoned things. My other project when I have time (or a lousy day outside) is a model railway layout controlled by a PLC. I built this to learn how to do programming. I built a first generation unit using an older PLC, but soon ran into problems with limited points and memory space. Decided to go for it and I bought a more modern unit with a lot more points and memory. Had a good chunk of time so far to complete the layout and soon will be ready for programming.
  9. I own an Alterra and its older generation model the 366. Ive been happy with both machines. Mike
  10. Good deal, are you into hobby electronics?
  11. That is not a fusible link, it is a diode to prevent backfeeding into the electrical systems. I have seen a few cases where the diode broke since they stick it inside the wiring harness. Any generic silicon diode rated for 10 amps will do as a replacement, polarity is important. Mike
  12. It looks like only the ATV specific mounts are being discontinued, probably for the older models. I have the 2 inch receiver mount for mine so I can move it to different quads as needed. I only had to use this Tigertail a few times but it works great. Mike
  13. Yeah, Lost trails is local to me, hopefully it will be on a weekend i am not working Mike
  14. Agreed, It probably got wet and that is why its not working. CDI's or any other electrical part does not need a flow of power to keep it good, pure bunk. I don't know about other model ATV's but Arctic Cat usually encases the CDI in epoxy so its impossible to repair them, too bad, because most of the parts inside would be cheap to replace such as diodes and capacitors. Once a CDI box gets to about 20 years old, it is common for the capacitors inside to fail, then you have no spark. Electrolytic capacitors typically only have a life of about 20 years before the plates break down inside (kinda like a battery) Mike
  15. The flywheel magnet problem was common on years 2005-2007 models. He did not post the year of his machine. My first quad was a 2007 Arctic Cat and I did not have the problem. Guess I lucked out. It is something he needs to check as it can cause his symptoms. Mike
  16. Its important to be heard, no doubt the "greenies" will be sending emails as well.
  17. Thank you, it is important to be heard and get more legal ATV miles. Mike
  18. PA Residents, please take a moment to send an email supporting this to [email protected] https://www.erienewsnow.com/story/41590987/proposed-changes-on-the-way-for-riding-atvs-on-state-forest-trails?fbclid=IwAR1EXkgtnRenBzFAKG5h1IOs7xDrNg6iedYSALckbjx2F5ZPjwdDFFij6Jc#.Xic-MeQ7aXY.facebook This week, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) plans to outline proposed policy changes for ATV trails on state forest lands. They will also be seeking public comment. Pennsylvania has more than 260 miles of ATV trails in state forests. The department is reviewing its policy to respond to increasing demands for riding opportunities and well as interest from local governments in expanding tourism. “The purpose of the policy is to provide guidance to DCNR when acquiring, developing and managing lands for ATV use by the public,” Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn said. There had been a moratorium on new trail development, but the policy revisions now authorize DCNR to consider new ATV trails and connectors on state forest lands. “New ATV trails will be considered, while still balancing the protection of natural resources as outlined in the Environmental Rights Amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution, and the needs of all types of recreational users on DCNR lands,” Dunn said. In a 2016 survey of ATV users, more than 4,800 responded with many indicating a strong desire for more long-distance trails. Pennsylvania has around 285,000 registered ATVs. On state forest lands, ATV riding is allowed only on designated trails. Public comment will be taken at a meeting in Harrisburg Wednesday, January 22, from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 105 of the Rachel Carson State Office Building. Written comments can be submitted to [email protected]. The deadline to submit comments is March 27. More information about ATV riding is on the DCNR website.
  19. I have seen this modification done on several quads. The marine grade battery is more tolerant of being drained low (heavy winch usage) and the charging system can recharge the battery, slower then a vehicle alternator, but it will do it. The cost is not that much different to put this battery on verses replacing the original. Wiring on this quad is not that complicated, even if its been hacked up, it can be repaired. Mike
  20. This is what I have on the gravity railroad. Planes 10 and 11 are within Lost Trails property, the rest is not. I have given tours of the gravity planes with a group of hikers who also like to photograph abandoned railroads, Plane 9 is a short walk from the property boundary. https://www.nepaview.com/pcc-gravity-railroad.html
  21. The shackle was part of the cabling system that hoisted the cars up the incline plane. There is a series of historical pictures I had permission to post on my website, but all of the pictures are from after they converted to T-rail. Lost trail is only one of very few places where I can use my quad for exploring (which is handy to carry extra gear) I bought the drone a few months ago to help in abandoned railroad exploring, being able to photograph areas I cannot reach. Plus to have some fun. And yes, that is why my username is "mikeexplorer" 😁
  22. Lost Trails is practically my back yard so I know the area well. All my machines are good to go, in the spring is when I do the most maintenance work on them to get them ready for riding season. Some artifacts I found in the area I posted on my website here: https://www.nepaview.com/pcc-artifacts.html Last year, I donated two sections of strap rail to Steamtown National Historic Site for them to put on display. Mike
  23. Ill be going there in April sometime. I don't ride much in the winter since its ski season. My first planned ride there probably wouldn't be of interest to you since I will be going to do more exploring the riding. Last year I started mapping out the water works that brought water down from the lakes to the gravity plane steam engines. Some areas are grown in and cannot be walked or mapped. I plan to fly my drone over the areas taking pictures to fill in the missing areas I hope to make a map of the water line in comparison to the gravity planes. Later on I will be going there just to ride, once the growth comes back in which will make exploring impossible. Mike
  24. Its a work weekend for me ☹️
  25. Nice video, winter here has been terrible. Ski slopes are not that good right now. The snow in the trees is from snowmaking, They only got a few hours in before it warmed up.
