  1. I would contact the Manufacturer and see if they have the correct adapter to fit your machine or specifics on how to make it work, shame you had to cut the plastic
  2. Welcome! Glad to have you, Hondas are great machines.
  3. They are fairly specific the Kodiak is closer but still wont fit exactly, Grizzly is quitee a bit different.
  4. I only mentioned the carb in response to post #9, only have ECU if its fuel injected, you have a CDI(Capacitor Discharge Ignition).
  5. It should have a Mikuni carb on it unless its been changed.
  6. Glad it wasnt internal. You have been busy. Good diagnosis. It sounds like it has been ridden hard and jammed in and out of gear many times at some point in its life. I think it is repairable clean up the threads on the rod and it may work, but i would be tempted to look for a new shifter in good shape, you definately want to get it adjusted correctly so no internal damage happens. Hopefully the correct belt will solve your clutch problems also.
  7. Which amp fuse is it blowing and what accessorories are on your machine.
  8. I think the first thing i would check would be the shift linkage make sure its well oiled and moves freely it could possibly need adjustment.
  9. Just a thought since it runs on jack stands if it was clutch it should die as soon as you put it in gear.
  10. It sounds like the engine is stalling under a load . Plate clutch may be stuck.
  11. I f they have boots on them you do not have to take the boot off to grease them the boot keeps the grease in there.
  12. Do you mean the engine never rotates when you press the start button, but the starter turns, or it just wont start.
  13. If the kill switch does not move there must be corrosion in there also i would check it out.
  14. The 2004 single cylinder engines have a Power Distribution Module that serves the same function as the fuses and relays. The PDM is located above and just forward of the radiator and looks like a silver box with fins on it.
  15. Those 90s kingquads were the best, good luck getting it going.
  16. It wont run 180 out
  17. I think you have 2 things going on here you have worn rings and top end and you are running a diaphram carb that wasnt designed for the engine, but should work if everything else is in top notch condition. The plug should not get that oily that fast unless your rings are practiclly non existant which would lead me to did you check the compression, if the compression is low that would cause hard starting when cold plus the battery is weakened from the cold and does not spin the engine fast enough to start. Fairly guttsy putting 20 amps in to that small battery but is it worked that great.
  18. Yeah and depending on which side you have to pull the clutches on one side or the rotor on the otherside. But all good still a ton better than splitting the case.
  19. The old honda is working great with the new honda gears. It does still make the clunking sound on starting and this is with new gears and new starter.
  20. Update: I walked away for a while not knowing what i was going to try next, sometimes when you are at the end of your rope you have to do that or either call the junk man, didnt really have the time or interest in rebuilding the hydrostatic trans, dosing it weekly with PB Blaster and the last month Marvel Mystery Oil , it finaally let loose, even though i could move the mechanism a month ago it still wasnt releasing the wheels. Went out today and just tried it and wheels released. I can now roll it around. Now i have to put it all back together to see if the trans actually works, and fix the brakes while its apart.
  21. If you just want it pointing downward no backpressure if you dont want it permanant just make up the pipe stick it on there when you need it and take it off.
  22. They were a lot of fun and lately have been developing a huge fan base, seeing a lot of those being restored.
  23. Also brake lines swellup with age and get weak when you put pressure on them they blow out you may also check the bleeder and make sure its sealing correctly. Blue smoke could be rings or valve guide seals, if its more prominant when you first start it up its valve guide seals if it is fairly constant it could be rings or flooding although flooding is more of a darker smoke and not so blue.
  24. I think he is referring to the main jet size , you may be too rich, what do your plugs look like. If you are referring to Niche Cycle on Ebay they sell Mikuni carbs, since it came with the different jet sizes it is for many applications including the rare carb on your Kodiak. Is it a Mikuni . I would try installing the 135 and see if it helps and go down from there. Was it bogging with your old carb? I wouldnt throw my old one away.
